I had my worked on my 7 rem mag by LRI. THEY DO EXCELLENT WORK!! The scope rail will need 6 screws to hold onto the action…. Other than that you will be happy with the work from LRI. Notify us of your results😊😊😊
Good to see you went with a K&P barrel. I have multiple. Wait and see how it does once you get about 40 rounds through it. Mine are all excellent. I think K&P is the only barrel LRI keeps in stock or it's one of their preferred barrels
Great shooting with that custom rifle and a great review Eric. The gun seems to like a good cleaning. I gun is great when it's barrel shoots everything well and this one certainly did. You should buy it or trade for it!
As long.as your shooting jugs good fun but it shouldn't be used hunting game past 300 yds you missed 60 percent of your shots if you would have been hunting game and only had one shot you more likely would have missed 75 percent past 300 yrds. And your overall a dam good shot these long bomb scopes take the fair chase out of hunting with to many wounded and lost animals and to many killed that would have got away if you tried to stalk closer that's hunting and what it should be about
I have a Ruger American 6mm creed. I was shooting 1 1/4” groups with it. I dropped it into the XRS chassis and now my worst group is 5/8”. Very happy with the XRS!
Works great for me on multiple guns . F y I your moving it way to far at a time only move 1/8 to 1/4 inch at a time. Mine are at the last two inches of barrel+ or -
Very good looking rifle. Always like to see how people put together their rifle since it’s a personal choice on everything. Been looking at that scope for a while now. How ya like it? Good job putting a 30” barrel on that 338. Thats bare minimum for that big case i have a 35” for my build. Going with akley version.
RU-vid has done away with the skip ads option. Your vid got interrupted 3 x 3-4 minutes each time. I don’t see how content creators don’t lose views with this horse 💩. Consider Rumble.
Not bad groups but if ur going to reload for this gun what did the sd/es look like? That's what would be the deciding factor for me. Then use that brake to dail in the accuracy.
Seeing the grassland of NE WY made me home sick. Last time I hunted was 38 years ago in the Gros Ventre. Now that area is farmettes owned by CA liberals.
All the companies are going to say not to hunt with match bullets and closer than 500 yards I’d agree. They excel at ranges beyond that. Tough hunting bullets are designed for much higher velocities and match bullets are too fragile at high velocity.
You got yourself a shooter there mate, every one of them groups were pretty good even the factory loads shot well, I’d be happy with any of them, very nice rig, cheers Yogi ✌️
that is a nice rifle. Wow! You had me at 30” barrel. A .338 Lapua 300 gr you can shoot pretty much anything you want and it’s going to floor stomp whatever you are shooting at.
With a 30” barrel I’m surprised at how slow some of the groups are. The reason I ask is because I shoot a 24” barrel with a 1:9.5 twist in my Barrett MRAD in 338LM and I get 2799 fps with Hornady 285 grs ELD-Match and 2815 fps with Cutting Edge Bullets 277 grs MTAC bullets. What is the twist rate of your barrel? Like the look of the barrel.
Haven’t shot an XRS but I have mdts oryx chasis on my tikka t1x and it is fantastic especially for the price they go for! Highly recommend for a plinking and target rifle little heavy for hunting imo though.
It’s nice to see the initial groups for the loads. Pick the bullet you want with the speed you want and use the tuner to dial in the group size. Like watching your videos, not a lot of new stuff with 338 Lapua. I just got a Desert Tech SRS chambered in 228 Lapua with my reload using 87 grains H4831SC with 250ge SMK.
Nice groups!! Watch Long Range Hunting Group here on u tube. He tested a bunch of match bullets on game. He shoots a 300 wm with heavy Sierra match king bullets. He shows the results to u. I am doing load development on my 280AI. With Hornady ELD M 162 and 180 gr bullets.
Hey, Eric. Been watching your channel for a while now. Really enjoy your content. Just want to let you know. You should really check out all of the good reviews on Arken optics. If you're looking for a good long-range the E.P series the new one it's called the EP-5 G2 7-35×56 FFP 34MM Tube with illuminated VPR reticle it comes in either MIL OR MOA They are extremely incredible optics. I have several of them. Now I wish I would have been introduced to them before I spent thousands of dollars on these other brands. What you spent on that scope on your lapua, magnum. You could probably buy 3 of Arken long-range optics. They also have 5-25×56 30mm tube Do me a favor and check. Them out. I have been watching reviews on these scopes for the past 2 yeand they've been put up. Against some of the best brands out there. Schmidt and Bander. Vortex. Zeizs, maven, opticforce. They've been put up against everything and they either beat them in quality or tie neck and neck So before you buy another scope, you should definitely check out arken, optics. You will not be disappointed. They use Japanese glass very Is impressive Don't waste your hard earned money What you save on an arken. You can go and buy a new rifle compared to these other scope brands. Just just saying check them out Again great content. Would like to see some more 22-250 dusting coyotes.
I think you’d be surprised. I shot the light weight savage with the hunting style synthetic stock and it wasn’t any worse than a relatively heavy 308 without a brake. Just a solid push and not sharp at all.
Do some reloads with Berger bullets and you will completely change your mind on your best group Sir. I've reloaded all of the other brand name bullets and found Berger to be the supreme best bullets for hunting in my humble honest opinion Mr. Eric .
Welcome to the real world where wind blows and altitude/air pressure play a critical role....... I agree with the shooter's main teaching point: a “rock solid position or don’t chance it”. I see a few more learning points in this: 1) the trickiest part is the wind (it causes him to miss to the right a number of shots); 2) observe how his last shot is a lot more deliberate (slow), hence better. Indeed, “aim small, miss small”; 3) he is only able to hit at longer range because he reviews the video of his misses, hence he can correct for the wind, and elevation on the last shot, which I attribute to EHR (Equivalent Horizontal Range) being shorter then measured range due to altitude and pressure, hence he missed high. His conclusion that 600 yards “is ethical” is ‘interesting’ because in truth without the video review he could not punch past ~300. Do we have the missed shot video to review when we hunt? Nope! Past 300 he had no idea where he was shooting, which he said himself. Was he missing close enough to still have a killing shot? Not on Pronghorn, and sometimes yes, sometimes no, on Elk, but at random. Is this ethical hunting? To each their own… He states the commonly ‘accepted truth’ that custom rifle and handloaded ammo would do better, which is an obsolete belief pre-dating CNC factory machining and factory loading, but he just demonstrated that his misses were not caused by factory equipment but by wind drift to the right and EHR distance being shorter than measured distance. He therefore demonstrated that the shooter was the cause, and that factory rifle and factory ammo do just fine when the shooter does his job… Good honest video, with a lot to learn from.
