Barney is a huge step above Greville! Do not underestimate it! Yes Barney is recommended for very fit and experienced hikers however, if you find someone who's done it before, they can show you the way.

I am dying to go on this Gap Adventures trip - so much so that I have a GoFundMe campaign started since Peru is my absolute dream trip (just posting the link - not asking for money: www.gofundme.com/perhaps-peru)! Your video has just confirmed what I always knew - Peru is an amazing place!

Great Video! I love hiking Mt Barney. I think its actually easier going up south east ridge and coming down peasants. Feels more direct and you get the beautiful sunset on the peak. Logan's ridge is fun too!

Where did you buy the Nemo Meta? Just trying to get an idea of the cost and can't find an outlet in Australia. Thanks again.

I'll have to add that one to my list. What kind of tent is that @5:40 ?
@roughnecktrekker1976
@roughnecktrekker1976 7 лет назад
Herbshirt it's a Nemo Meta 2P trekking pole tent. Super light and roomy for its weight. Weighs under 1kg.

Under 1kg?! That's amazing. I'll have to check it out. Thanks for the reply.

Hello! I will be doing the same trek with G Adventures this coming April. Do you have any recommendations on what and how much clothing to bring. Do you also recommend renting the sleeping bags/mats or bring your own? Also, do they allow you to leave extra luggage at the hotel and how safe is it? Your feedback would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
@roughnecktrekker1976
@roughnecktrekker1976 7 лет назад
Robert Bolanos The trip is awesome you will love it. Definitely take your own sleeping mat if you like to get some sleep. The ones they hire aren't that nice. I had my own. I went in Oct so the temps at night only went down to 13c so a zero degree bag was ample. Not sure about temps in April but get a good poncho for the rain. Don't worry about waterproof pants just a long poncho will do. Take snacks as I found the food was not enough for me. But I eat a bit so just be prepared. Waterproof gloves are essential as your hands will freeze if it rains. I have Sealskinz gloves which are top notch and light n comfy. Just shoot me an email on roughneckvp@mail.com and I will try and answer your questions. It's easier than via RU-vid. Andrew.

Mitch, it's a tough hill but worth the effort. Take lots of water if you are tackling it in summer. Good luck.
