I'm an old school gamer who was brought up on Jolt, stand-up arcade games and the culture of the 80s. I've grown, but not much has changed; I'm still gaming and have a strong desire to share the games that I've enjoyed over the years. I hope to bring gamers together and put the spotlight on the games of an older day that still hold up in today's world.

@@JohnMegacycle I watched these on Katherine's side already and came over here to show support. I hope you both enjoyed it. There are not a lot of factorians that do multi-player content.
@@johnnytieszen It's all good. Megacycle is a fake last name. When I came up with it I wanted to do a super friendly sounding name instead of something like xX_Bone_Killar_Xx or some such thing. I was working on a video detailing how I got it, but I never finished it.
@@johnnytieszen Eh, it's okay. I game for myself and if I get some fans and pals along the way, then great. If not, no worries. Also, don't hesitate to let me know if there is anything I can improve upon.
I wondered when you would play 1.0 but realised that you had quite a few series going on yt, so I assume you did play on release but have only now had a slot free for yt. Have you played Planet Crafter, I know its not your usual fare and not really mine but it sucked me in, just one more.....
@@Rich_Xnda For this I have recorded 91 episodes and they are scheduled to release. I gave the demo of planet crafter a try, but it was too slow for my taste. It's not a bad game, but not for me, I think.
Oh yeah I'm happy that you're playing this ! I can't handle the first person view but I'm always interested in the factory processes and the verticality itself. I don't think the worms from Dune are compatible with the "patented fire technology" of Ficsit. You're welcome to try !
@@miakintosh lolol, agreed. Honestly, the FPS view of it messes with me as well but I wanted to give it a try. Tbh, I'm a little suspect about the later phases, but here is my honest attempt at it.
I desagree about nuclear energy beeing a "set and forget" project. To use nuclear you need to set a lot of smaller and complex projects: Larger sulfuric acid production, Manual minig (i supose that changing the haversert thing to retrofit sulfuric acid would be a bad and inprodutive task, so manual would be better), Uranium and kovarex processing (witch have his own complexity, would be nice to see your design) Fuel cells producing, And the nuclear reactor itself (would be nice to see you design as well) with all the circuits and balancing in the spaceshipt limited space. In the other hand steam engines (IMO) are very "set and forget", need more energy? copy/paste more engines... What energy souce you need? -coal: just place the haverster miner, -solid fuel: just pump oil to your base or do the coal liquething, you will need oil to science anyway. The only concern that i have about nuclear in your case is that you need a lot of space for reactors, turbines and water/steam, so you probably need to trim your reliable power source to place nuclear power in space... and if you jump to a lot of plannets without any uranium: ⚰ (maybe that is the better usage of the ore sucker thing, for you to have an emergency uranium supply). But realistically speaking your spaceship platform (first floor) is very empty now, so you could place it there and have both nuclear and steam... not shure if its worth it or not (i dont this so)
Sorry for the giant comment lol, I'm not a native English speaker. In fact, we hardly speak/listen/write/read anything in English in our normal routine, and sometimes i need a little help from our friend translator to write them (i usually avoid use him to force myself), so for me your videos are a great way to practice and relax, so thank you for this opportunity, it's very important and appreciated :D a shout out from Brazil
@@Sousa22ko that's true. I suppose after a certain point one doesn't need to worry about Kovarex tho, once enough centrifuges are in place. I might just be seeing it from a lazy angle but you are right, you do need to setup much more stuff to get it going and keep it going.
You could have plugged one of your oil magic pipes to flamethrowers near the big nest too. Also there's a lot of free real estate on your surface platform, could you put solar floor up there ?
@@miakintosh I didn't even think of attaching it to flamethrower like that. Dang. That would have been a ton of effortless damage. XD Also, that's a good idea with that.
I'd like to bring your attention to the greatest invention in the history of mankind. Greater than the wheel, greater than fire, more epic than heavier than air flight, it's... the OpenTTD "control" button. Thought I'd look at some of the old summaries today, then picked this run to watch during work. The saga of the control button has amused me today. Thanks, John.
@@beauxguss6321 Incredible. I would have never found it if others hadn't shown me. I'm too old school to look up new controls and too dumb to imagine it could even happen. XD
The ore picker gives you much higher storage density. Its like a steel chest that holds 15,000 ore + productivity. A miner sitting on a full 3x3 patch would be 135k+ ore that would bring in ore constantly regardless of location. The downside is throughput of that storage.
