So the two officers arrived on scene a few seconds before the 8:52 marker, and assessed the medical status of the gentleman on the sidewalk by 10:06 enough to come to a determination that medical intervention was appropriate. That's only a little more than 80 seconds elapsed before contacting dispatch to summon EMS personnel. Hey, you could say, yeah, the guy lying on the sidewalk motionless is a good hint of a certain level of incapacitation... But the video doesn't show us if there was a spreading pool of blood, or actual brain material on the concrete to provide the officers with confirming evidence of serious injuries. He might have just been resting after the exertions of the recent struggle. I'm sorry. Poor guy really took a beating. It's a real shame he never learned to control himself, so he could avoid all that. It will be crucial for autopsy to determine whether drugs in his system contributed to the compromised circulation to his brain, and whether the materials he had in his mouth at the time of arrest had been partially ingested, and what was the actual substance. He was at time of arrest, able to give coherent and appropriate responses to questions, indicating he was alert and oriented in terms of standard tests for level of consciousness. (in the circumstance, denial of having spit the stuff out of his mouth qualifies as an appropriate response -- he's attempting to evade any connection to contraband...) Sorry, this stuff is fascinating. I'm just tryina think thru all this. 25 years ago I had trained about to first responder level, and I was married to a Firefighter. She had a lot of stories to tell, like my cousins who were cops all their lives. But working as an animator, paper cuts were the greatest threat!
This manager is so dumb I used to work for Jack-in-the-Box as a manager two years ago but when we got robbed, I told my crew through the Bluetooth headset to the back room soon as possible but in whispering mode, so the Robert didn’t know as soon as my crew went back to the office room I immediately sprinted and knocked the door behind my crew. Luckily, the suspect was arrested. Two hours later meanwhile, we were waiting in the room for the police department to arrive.
I am really surprised that this subject would get out of his vehicle with a gun in his hands when he knows that law enforcement carries firearms. I believe that in this situation, the officer did a great job in trying to deal with this subject and making sure they never lost contact or sight of a passenger who also poses a major threat to the officers. Based on my experience in Academy training, these officers get a great job and because of their cover and they made it very difficult for anyone to shoot at them anyways and they preserved their lives and was able to apprehend the passenger and later on the suspect who obviously didn't farewell because he was shot by possibly gang members that were driving southbound on the street over
Doesn’t sound like an in custody death to me at all. Officers did NOT use force on the suspect and officers did NOT ignore his medical condition… they promptly requested medics and the suspect was transported to the hospital for care. Homicide investigation, sure. Internal affairs and whichever other agency? No… unless there was some gross delay of care that was not shown in this video, it sounds like a waste of taxpayers’ money to investigate an incident where a victim of an assault died from his injuries. Is this a transparency overreaction because the suspect was black?
This is standard for a recorded video. It’s so they get all the information out that they want in the order that makes the most sense, minus the rambling that sometimes occurs in live interviews.
