Honorable mention that Cai Yuns smashes here look about as powerful as the "hard hitters" now a days. Even if the numbers say otherwise, I'm basing it on the visuals. Fu Haifengs smashes were out of this world.

I have a weak smash. Anyone can return my smash with a high lift. This forces me to keep smashing and I get tired very fast. People can even return my "netkills" or some easy midcourt smashes. Do I need to go to the gym or improve my technique. I think sometimes I accidentally slice the shuttle. Also smash is not steep enough. How do I get the explosive sound of a smash? Sweet Spot? Thanks Natty
@matthewglancy8033

Technique all the way, strength obviously helps but if you think about it the strongest man in the world wouldn't be able to do a smash at all
@MsWck
@MsWck 9 лет назад
You must improve your technique first then just improve your strength because without good technique, the strength is useless. Remember technique first just come with strength.
@nattybumpo

Thanks everyone! I feel like technique is fine. I just need a finishing smash from mid court to get the point.
@babyuknow8347
@babyuknow8347 9 лет назад
If you have a good technique, you don't really need to smash too hardly with your arms. A powerful smash also comes from your stance, from feet, to your knee, waist, wrist, adjusting to your sweet-spot etc...Other than increasing the strength of your arms, you could also improve on the accuracy and trickery of your smashes to kill off your opponents.
