This channel will be your 1 stop shot for everything Turkey Shoot/still board shoot related. Tips and tricks, barrel and choke tube shootouts snd more.
Yeah, I’ve only been there a couple times. I was going to go to the last one but I shoot at a local shoot in Indiana and it was at the same time basically
@@keithinman9859 I wanted to, but I have family stuff going on that day, I might shoot at Hamilton youth optimist Sunday. Where is Marks located? I’ve heard of it, but I’ve never been there.
@@justinlandrum1110 I don’t really shoot those distances but that is a tight choke for that bore. Maybe try going to a bigger choke and see that that does for your pattern. Is the chamber matched for your shells you shoot? That can make a big difference too
Kinda new to competitive turkey shoots, but what is the ideal result on a match chamber? Should the shot shell be nice an circular with no crimps showing or should you have crimps slightly showing?
I have seen other "experts" say they work well, and actually do this thing called range demonstration. Maybe no time was put into the simple process of boresight alignment. Must have stock in ammo mfgs lol. Good luck all.
As a small builder I’ve beer seen an advantage with lines….been shooting 20+ years and I’ve seen guns shoot great with lines and great without. Combination of what your gun likes as chambers, stump profiles, choke size etc all have to work together.
I have been told 2 different reason for lines by 2 different builders.... that they stop the wad from spinning and that they stiffen the wad. I was told years ago it slows the shot down some and stops gasses from breaking up your pattern. So I am not sure of anyone really knows for sure.
Yeah I agree, everyone definitely seems to have a different opinion and it’s hard to tell who’s is right or if it makes a difference either way sometimes.
Finally another person who explains why those things are worthless, 100% worthless. I have purchased them for my shotguns as well as rifles and what he explains is 100% correct. Place one in the bore of a gun that is securely mounted and leveled longitudinally and laterally on either a good bench rest or good quality tripod, place the laser in the breech and as he said slowly rotate it, you will see the laser dot moving all over the wall/target. Some of these lasers have tiny set screws that are supposed to center the laser in the breech BS, its like pouring sand down a rat hole, you will never be successful. Thanks for this video.
Is your barrel lined? I was told buy a guy that was a machinist & makes his own stuff that if you're barrel is smooth you should be shooting lined chokes. If the barrel is lined you don't need lined chokes. He shot a pollished smooth barrel with lined chokes.
Start close shoot till you get a hole Move crosshairs to center of hole Move back to distance you shoot shoot however many it takes to get a hole move to that. John bengal rule, shoot fot the average of averages for best win %
Absolutely, zero your gun through patterning it and don’t chase your shots. My guns usually shoot 4th-5th best out of a 16 man line, a lot of my wins come through patterning my shot and staying on the bullseye and not chasing my shot.
Its funny to watch a guy take a fixed 100yd scope not hit the same place twice and look down the scope and get dizzy because because parallax is non adjustable. Any scope that goes to adjustable 15yd parallax will improve you game. Im the mid range budget I like vortex best konus pro plus 6 next
agreed, I got the Konus in part to your recommendation. Parallax is one of the main reasons I made this video, several times I’ve seen guys with a $500 scope and they can’t figure out why it does that. 😂
I had to turn one down to fit chambers. As a builder it will get your customer on a large pizza box other than that the large pizza box has more value than the laser. Bolts and break actions give you an opportunity to see down the barrel then get scope closer. If laser os your only option at least it should get you on a large pc of paper. Btw my barrels are trued both front and back to .00005 then machined. Gundrilled is the straightest material you can get.
The laser placement inside these bore sites that I have are just way off, the one if I rotated in the chamber at a target at 60’ it would probably make a circle 4’ in diameter lol. I’ve had a lot of luck out of your barrel thanks Greg
I have 1 gun that a bore sight won't fit in because of a tight custom chamber. I have a stock open sights gun that it is actually pretty close but it's just a rough in tool.
