I went to four primary schools in three countries starting at age 6 and had no choice but to learn to protect myself. At age 12 I started martial art and yoga training & the next year was training overseas as my professor father had an odd predilection for sending me to strange places, i.e. working on a farm outside Barcelona for a summer. Two evenings a week I took a bus into the city for judo. The next year, 1972 it was the Amazon jungle and Taekwondo. Back in the US more tournaments, and I started to really enjoy it. If the teams I was with didn't go, I'd hitchhike. I started Karate, Kung Fu & dance training in various styles and university in '73; first moved to a Silk Road country, Malaysia in '92 with side trips to Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Nepal, India and Pakistan, went back to the US briefly, left in 2001 and since lived in S. Korea (7 yrs), China (12 yrs) and Thailand (1 yr+). The Silk Road Kung Fu and TKD Friendship Tours officially started in 2015 but are millennia older.
