Welcome to my channel! I like all things heavy and I'm on a permanent tone journey. I like to post playthroughs, demos, and random riffs/tones on this channel.
I also post often on my Instagram account @all.the.bacon if you're into that kind of thing!
I have a question, are you basically fucked if you live in a flat for tones that are well, nasty/volume? I have an Ampeg ss 70, it seems to have a great distortion/ gain tone but its a bit of a mess with fuzz pedals, think i'm going to just boost it with an OD n see what happens but it improves with volume therefore I am screwed, aint getting rid of this one though, its got unlocked potential I haven't tapped that ass yet 😂It has secrets to tell me brudda ✌️
Not as far as I know. From Michael Klein's manual for the Spire: "Spire is my response to a large portion of high-gain amplifiers which can sound harsh with too many mids in the wrong places and not enough in the right places. While these amplifiers are extremely popular and TONS of great guitarists get phenomenal tones with them, I never felt comfortable playing through most of them myself. I sought to design a boost that could address what I don’t like about these amps without losing what so many players love. The result is a pretty unique pedal and control set that really allows one to sculpt the tone of ANY amplifier, but particularly high gain amps with “cold clipping” stages in them."
I just got mine. Thanks in large part to this excellent demo, although the final selling point was the fact that it has possibly the coolest name ever for a modulation pedal (based, I think, on the Toynbee tiles native to Baltimore and other East Coast cities). I was also very pleased to see another pedal on your board that is on my list for future purchase: the Fairfield Circuitry Shallow Water K-Field Modulator. I actually was going to pick that up but then saw this demo and the BSRI demo and opted to Resurrect Dead on Planet Jupiter. Thanks for the in-depth demo; it really showcases the versatility and variety of applications. Also, nice playing. And I think the fact that you choose to use A standard is a great choice to demonstrate the effect through a wide range of registers. Thanks again.
@@Tool185 most of the videos I upload are the only time I get with that certain piece of gear honestly. I haven't had more time to fully explore either of these pedals yet so I can't really answer that particular question yet!
Well played it sounded heavier than a ball of molten lead and that catharsis was brutal You have now become the best demo channel and of all the demos of the quantum mystic you captured YOB and the magic they create well done
@@jconner3891 the amplifier underneath the HMW is a Science Amplification Earthling. It's based on a 70's Matamp GT120 circuit. I've got a whole bunch of clips of it on my channel 😁
And this just proves YT rehashes the same videos you liked over and over. I forgot I saw this before. But hey, before I didn't notice this was done with cell phone audio. 👍
there is a used one at Guitar Center right now if you're still looking for one. www.guitarcenter.com/Used/In-Store-Used/Used-Holy-Island-Audio-Tides-V2-Effect-Pedal.gc
Hold up…modulation?? Love it. Lots of good stuff going on here and I definitely did not just get lost in the vibe….(I totally did haha) That pedal really seems sit well in the signal chain. Especially paired with the blood moon and slow loris. Great demo as always!
Every now and then non-dairy makes it's way into my videos haha. I really dig this phaser so far but actually want to experiment with signal chain placement, at least with relation to my dirt pedals. I think it's good before all my other set effects.
@@palesama haven't thought it about it yet. I'd probably keep the v2 over the v1 due to the better versatility because of the boost being a potentiometer and having a presence pot as well.
Sick - I ordered a V2 the other day when they had a couple up. I should likely see mine arrive tomorrow or the day after. Looking forward to this one, sounds absolutely crushing.
@@harleyray3058 lucky grab! My V1 took three tries lol. I got lucky with v2 and got it from the first batch. Hope you dig it and thank you for watching 🙂
@@DirtyDemos Good catch on the V2 run! I had completely missed it on V1 and have been waiting for it since. I slept through my alarm (I live in Australia) though on the release day of the V2. So far I have no doubt I will. Thanks for making the video!
@@DirtyDemos i don't know why... it's the same with the Duncan Designed pickups in my Jazzmaster. People hate on them a lot but I think they sound fine.
Fuck I think i should get one. Sounds perfect for the sound I want in my band: nasty, crunchy, with really strong mids yet still amazingly articulate. Sick
Man, this is inspiring. I’ve been meaning to ask you-over months of lurking replays-how much you dig the Earthling. I’ve watched your heavy “straight in” demos multiple times. And the cleans on this video are blowing my mind. Like so many others, I’ve been going back and forth on an Earthling and a Matamp. I was leaning toward Matamp for the longest time for all the usual reasons. Iconic sound and heritage, etc. Relatively quick turnaround. And the exchange rate actually made them cheaper than Science. But your videos are making me wonder if Science is the true way…
I dig the Earthling quite a bit. I also went back and forth between Science vs Matamp. I have not played a Matamp so I can't directly comment on them compared to the Earthling, but from what I've heard from demos and recordings, the current Matamps can't get nearly as clean as the Earthling. I went for the 200 Watt KT88 version for maximum clean headroom as well. The Earthling is based on the 1970's Matamp GT120 which is not the same beast as current day Matamp GT amplifiers from my understanding. I would highly consider reaching out to Alex @ Science Amplification to discuss your tonal needs and he can probably provide more insight. If the Earthling would not be the best fit for you needs, he will definitely let you know. If you want to hear the Earthling in a specific context, let me know and I can try to record something to help assist you as well. Thanks for watching my videos and best of luck with your tone journey!
@@DirtyDemos Thanks, man! Did you get the two-channel version? I hadn’t previously considered 200 watts to be appropriate for someone of my interests-I previously swapped messages with Alex about a 50-watt build-but your cleans are clear as mountain water. Alex also said the master volume permits heavy tones even at low volumes, which is reassuring. I’m assuming that the low frequency knob also allows it to do Matamp-style dirty cleans? Anyway, I dig your stuff. I’m also a huge Blackhawk fan and like seeing his stuff in use. It gives me ideas for my own collection.
@@jdizzlies yeah the Earthling can get loud as heck, but the master volume lets you basically dial in what would be sort of equivalent to Matamp non-master volume GT120 tones at lower volumes. The LFV and HFV increase the perceived gain so dialing them higher will seemingly make the cleans dirtier.
Great demo, definitely some crushing tones from this. I also appreciate you posting not just your signal chain, but what tuning you’re in, it helps to put the tone in perspective.
@@deathmetalmadness4642 I am a big fan. It's got a ton of great tones in it and the mid shift toggle can get really gross if you know what you're doing 🙂
@@DirtyDemos No problem bro, I'm not long starting up n playing so need all the advice I can get 😂 just a bedroom guy but it's a top flat so living on the edge of being thrown to the street by the fuzz/police/oink oink
@@M3dicinePYT it sounds good to me with the T75's. I have a few videos running through Redbacks also. The majority of the other clips featuring the Prometheus actually.
I had the same guitar and silverburst but my pickups were swapped for a JB and some other SD neck pickup that’s not very common at all. Loved the guitar but didn’t get used nearly as much as my other baritones. I got it for $400 and needed the money and sold for $750 so don’t feel as bad about getting rid of it 😂 Cool video btw! New subscriber here cuz of the Lichtlaerm amp demos and pedals u did
@@MetalheadOv666 these are the stock pickups and they don't seem too bad to me so far. At least you made a profit when selling! Thanks for the support!
