my dream build is in the forest, with all the animals and a garage with mazenine and an office, its pleasing to watch nicely built spaces like this, i just want to find peace in my homestead now that i am more than half through my life. just want to leave my city bungalow behind to the kids and hopefully spend rest of the days working and living at the farm

You need to install one 15ft blade big ass fan.
@kenschopshop
@kenschopshop 15 дней назад
@johncarr123 I had thought about it, but for the cost, it didn't make sense, I have 6 - 60" fans that move a ton of air, and honestly, this summer almost never turned them on .... the mini splits have done fine by themselves. If anything, I wish I had just done a wall mounted oscillating fan just to move a little air all over

We have a 4999 sq ft new metal building and thinking of installing 4 units. How cool are you able to keep the shop cool during the summer?
@kenschopshop
@kenschopshop 15 дней назад
@johncarr123 nice that's awesome! I have never set the units any lower then 70 and they do pretty well at maintaining that but like in mid summer when it was 100 for a week or 2 straight and only 75-80 at night they were keeping tge shop at around 73-75 at the peak heat of the day and the 75 was only on the Stat by my roll up door that I haven't put seals on yet so it was getting a little draft coming in. In the opposite back corner of the garage it never got above 73 and if I wanted it cooler I could just put them in turbo mode and within an hour or so all the thermometers in the garage were back to 70 and after about 2 hours tge one in the back corner could get to 68/69 if I left them in turbo mode

@parker38 thanks ! Sorry I thought I responded earlier but I guess I forgot I hadn't responded yet . I'm honestly not sure a cost I did this free for a buddy for all the help he gave me getting my shop built . I asked him after I saw your comment how many hours he thought we had in it and we guesstimate around 16ish Saturdays messing with it but I'd guess about at least a quarter of the time was just bs'ing and not actually working and we did stuff like swapping out the seats and wasted some time just figuring out how we wanted to lay everything out but just say 2 guys 8 hours per Saturday x16 is 256 hours so in reality probably more like 200 of real work . I have joking said I won't work on anyone else's project for less then 40-50 per hour so .... if I were to do another astro and set it up exactly like this one I'm sure I could cut those hours back so but at the same time I'd be doing it by myself so it might not cut off as much as you'd think . 40x60 space goes quick once you add an office space. I have 5 cars and a small tractor and mower I need to put in. What size should I go?
@kenschopshop
@kenschopshop Месяц назад
Man that's a tough question, but yeah the office and mezzanine definitely eats up some useable floor space for vehicles but for me it added that upstairs space and gave me a nice "workshop" type space for benches and tools . As for the rest of my space I feel I could comfortably work on 3 vehicles at one time as long as they weren't getting completely blown apart bur if I was just trying to store cars in the garage like say in case of a storm of going out of town for a while I could probably squeeze 8 midsized cars/trucks if I put one on the lift and one under , probably wouldn't be much room for anything else but as is I could easily put 5-6 vehicles in mine for the night with minimal cleaning or moving stuff. My suggestion is build the biggest you can afford or your area will allow you to build.... like technically mine is just under the maximum sqft my county would allow........ that said I plan to later cover the side parking area that's 30x60 to the left of my shop with a lean-to then close it in later to almost double my closed in sqft but that will be years down the road . Good luck on your shop and hit me up if I can answer anything else and thanks again for watching!

@@kenschopshop Thanks man. This is my first time doing something like this and just put in the order for the building last week. I'm considering buying this model but wondered how much room you have to open the doors on the vehicles compared to a true asymmetrical lift where the posts are rotated 30 degrees. My other Bendpak lifts ( XPR-10AS) have been discontinued. I know it makes sense for a company to only have to manufacture one set of uprights, but I think on the consumer side there will be less clearance to open the doors. Even when set up "asymmetrically" with their bent front arm, I wonder how much room you have to open the door to work or at least get in/out. Thanks for the video!
@kenschopshop
@kenschopshop Месяц назад
@atomautowerks2172 I have my 94 gmc 1500 standard cab short bed on the lift right now and I can open its door almost all the way . And the steering wheel is at the back of the post and the back of the door mirror is forward of thr front of the post if that makes sense. All the normal vehicles I have had on it so far I had no problems opening the doors but I did have an astro van on the lift and that was a little tighter hut because the back of the door was inline with the post . I do have the lift setup in the wide configuration also . Hope that helps some . Thanks for watching!

I had thought maybe I should have gone with 9' floor to give more height upstairs but as it is now the my toolbox open I still have room between the lid and ceiling fan above it so again glad I did stick to the 10' floor . It's awesome that you went with the black insulation. Everyone seems to like it in mine when they see it in person, too . I did use lifetime guarantee Sherwin Williams paint. 15 gal for $1,200 on sale @ 30% off. Yes. HD paint only would have cost 1/3 as much, but it took 4 coats to cover the wooden carriage doors,10x9, and they don't look as good as the 2 coats of SW on the rest of the shop! Happy to answer, so my wall height of my building is 16' . Under the beams it a little shorter . Most average car lifts require about a 12' ceiling height as a minimum but my lift is actually 13'1" . My mezzanine floor height is 10' so the ceiling under it is about 9'1" . The office ceiling I think is right around 7' if I remember correctly and the bathroom ceiling slopes down with the roof . The storage loft above the office is like 4' tall at the front and 18" tall at its lowest point 10' back so that floor space there is like 10x11'4" . Thanks for watching and thank you ! If you have any other questions just let me know I'll try my best to answer or better explain

Definitely interested in the long version of cost breakdown and the concrete sealer info. Thank you!!

Thanks for watching! It was about a 4' drop to the far back right corner. So yes, they cleared all the vegetation off and got down to undisturbed soil, then built it up with 3" recycled concrete. I did the osb just because that's what I was doing downstairs on the bottom 8' and figured it would be a little tuffer then drywall and eaiser to hang stuff on . Inside the office and bathroom will be all drywall though just to give a nicer finished look . OK cool I have been thinking about doing that longer version soon just to help better answer questions people have had . As for the concrete sealer I used is Concrete Sealers USA ps100. Thanks again for watching and glad the info was helpful!

I Love Harbor Freight. I wanted the 72" but didn't want to spend $1,799.00's. So heres what I did! I got a 69" for a little over $780.00's Heres My 69" Set Up, in the Arctic White. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ztLypf_Tg7A.htmlsi=FfiLyN1KPEaVIsD2
