Whoever is filming these videos really needs to get themselves a wide angle lens. Too many close up shots in the interior, not a great advertisement when you can't see much.
Hi guys! Thank you for your awesome experience! 0:46 you talk about a too small ridge cap. I am a French contact for Avrame and we heard the same comment from a French Avrame build. We now make a note on all new orders from France to supply a wider cap and Avrame is happy to do so.
Yes that's great to know! Actually the small ridge cap looks pretty slick. Just have to have the strapping set up properly to accept it and have the roofing material carry up higher to the peak! In the end it did work for us! :) But, if you don't think about this until the end of roofing then that's when you'd need to switch to a wider cap. Neat that its available from Avrame now!
I am confused... Is there no sheathing on the exterior of the home? This looks like the insulation will be sandwiched between whatever the interior wall covering is, and the Tyvek house wrap? Does that meet code in USA?. How would you meet Washington State code for R40 walls of theres nothing but a layer of wrap between the wall insulation and and the exterior? Is this the European kit? Does the USA kit come with roof sheathing?
European kit has the OSB sheathing on the inside. OSB acts as a vapour barrier that is why we do not want to install it on the outside. So in case of any humidity geting to the insulation it can evaporate outside.
Hey, I live in the USA and have been looking into building my own A-frame. The Avrame USA website only offers kits for use on basement or crawl space foundations. Did you guys have to custom make the brackets you used to connect the trusses to the slab, or is that something that Avrame offers outside of the USA? I ask because I was thinking of trying to put a 2 car garage in one of the gable ends, which would require a slab foundation for that part of the A-frame.
That is not done right, the underlayment from the top of the window there should be another piece of underlayment of roof underlayment that is cut and put there under the exsisting layment, then the metal barrier carries the water to ether side
We designed our Avrame with skylights but our builders convinced us not to actually put them in because of potential leak problems. I wish we did anyways 😕😕
I'm a bit surprised that it looked like you didn't have any exterior sheathing for racking strength. Is that not required in Canada like it is in the USA?
It's crazy how much different your Avrame kit is from ours (I'm in the USA). We have no strapping on the roof and no tyvek at all, we just used ZIP on the exterior and taped it all up
@@AVRAME we're in a similar climate here in north western Maine. Every contractor that sees our assembled trio 100 is absolutely blown away at how strong it is. Nobody here has ever seen an entire home built of LVLs. I don't think it's going to blow away in the wind anytime soon! 🤣
My husband and I would like to leave the city and build an A frame home for us in the mountains. I am so excited to have come across your videos and have subscribed. Thank you for sharing your knowledge and wisdom so generously. I am learning so much about building in general. regards from South Africa
This is a modification of TRIO150. The number indicates the length in meters. So TRIO150 is 15.0 meters (49 ft) long. TRIO200 is 20.0 m long. A-frames are easy to change lengthwise. We just add more frames.
Wow look at Katie go!! Although Rob was the main builder, Katie I knew worked behind the scenes obtaining building information for the infrastructure of the build ect BUT had no idea how much she was there to support a wall and hammering right along with you 🥰. Such an amazing family dream and build come true.
