I got a GTX 1080 that flickers with GSync + DisplayPort on an AOC Q27G2U. The flickering is of upping the brightness kind of flashes, not blacking out the monitor. Tried all the suggested fixes I could find: - different refresh rates - custom res with max-1 Hz in nVidia Control Panel - different color profile setting in nVidia Control Panel - enabling an FPS cap in nVidia Control Panel - GPU BIOS update (I think it reduced it but didn't solve completely, google techpowerup nvidia bios displayport if interested) - different DisplayPort version in monitor settings * - disabling GeForce Experience overlay, Steam overlay, Discord overlay, Afterburner overlay (I didn't even have the overlay installed actually) For me the only things that solve it completely and to satisfaction are using HDMI instead or turning off GSync. *) Changing the monitor DisplayPort version from 1.2 to 1.1 did disable the flickering but also added some kind of color artefacts in text, as if the antialiasing settings were wrong or some sharpening was happening. I believe this is because the color profile changed to YCbCr422 and couldn't be changed in DP1.1 mode. The color profile change alone did not help with the flicker but had the same visual effect.
@@aaaxa8809 I just gave up on GSync and turned it off since I need the HDMIs for other stuff. I used HDMI before and judging from the frame rate fluctuation GSync still worked through it. I don't notice the tearing at 144hz anyway.
You mean like camera kind of flashes on screen when playing games. If yes, it's due to the sudden Fps changes that your G-Sync adjusts accordingly. Mostly it happens on games with sudden fps highs and lows, like MSFS 2020. Turning off G Sync solves the issue. You won't see the tearing if the max frames that your GPU can push keeps below the max refresh rate of your monitor.
@@aaaxa8809I get it only when I choose the 120hz option on my g9 57 inch. This 120hz unlocks the full resolution but adds the brightness flickering thing. I’m going nuts

Well explained. Basically there are many ways to do this. For example, you have a maximum of 165hz in your option, you have to pick less than the maximum and make sure it does not reach that relatively close to maximum, which what he did in 1:19 of this video. When you overclock your gaming monitor, it always warns you about the flickering, at that point I figured out that using G-SYNC with a standard DisplayPort does not cut it, it is still UNSTABLE. ANOTHER OPTION I CAN ADD HERE IS: Sacrifice your G-SYNC and use HDMI and set your Hertz to 144 and it wont FLICK anymore.. Well atleast for me.
Bro why is RU-vid pushing these "fixes" that don't fix anything? Literally nothing but wrong advice. It's not a fix to disable something that is supposed to work. Also, I don't even have Geforce experience, or any other overlay. I get the same flickers in desktop and game use. This is bs.
You just aren’t maintaining a high enough stable fps, some of the fixes fix for people by helping them with frame drops, your games frame drops just aren’t coming from this so you’d have to find another solution, I’ve heard that changing the gsync range can help aswell.
@@walkman0553 My 3060Ti isn't maintaining FPS in desktop use? Yeah makes sense. Actually I fixed the issue completely, it was simply a bad driver version. Apparently some drivers cause this problem while others don't. Not really about how old the version is, just specific ones are broken.
@@Xurety I don't remember what the issue causing driver version was, but definitely more than 10 months old. If updating to newest driver does nothing for you, try using a driver cleanup tool and following the instructions. I guess it could also be some other broken app, one that does overlay things for example. Try scouring the app list and getting rid of anything even that has even a slight chance of causing problems.
It does not work ! To not flicker, you must disable gsync in the Nvidia panel and enable V synchronization ... then bye bye the flicker but Gsync too :( Edit : i changed the screen for G7 Odyssey 32" he's the best ! Bye flicker ^^
forcing V-sync on is bad advice. V-sync makes a significant impact on input delay and is terrible for most games. you are better off putting in a framerate limit to something that is stable.
@@generalnazrin01 no turning it off does not fix screen flicker on gsync and freesync displays. flickering is caused by your monitor have to change its refresh rate to match a rapidly changing framerate of the game your playing. so capping the framerate to a framerate that is stable will mostly fix the issue.
For me, just turning off the overlays fixed my flickering issues with my RX 6700XT and Gigabyte G34WQC connected with DP1.4 with Freesync premium turned on and my refresh set to 144. In game vsync is off or set to adaptive
