I make hand-crafted wooden lures. Each lure is unique, made from varied woods with no paint or stain, just the beauty of the wood. Occasionally I will use some fire.
How about using double( frog) hooks dressed & maybe small diameter aircraft drill bits, i find those drill bits to be extra long (4" or so) for 1 pass drilling? Great lure
I have now watched one of your videos. You are a very talented man. I would love to learn how to do this just to do it. I’m very impressed with your work, sir. I wish you all the best.
What is the reason that you have the grain of the wood, that you put your dowels in, Running across the body as opposed to running the length of the body? your work is outstanding. I enjoy watching your videos. Thank you.
@user-wg4jq1mj5j usually the center piece runs horizontally, I like it better for strength, the sides can be whatever looks best. I replace all of the host block with dowels anyway on the dowely ones
This is my media format, I enjoy horizontal. 😀 Yes, the more information the better. I'm not into livestreams though, they tend to be too long and too slow. A well edited video is more work for you, but a lot easier to watch for us. I am a hobbyist builder and make lures for family and friends. So I watch a lot of channels with lure building content, over 140!
Thank you for the link. I had no idea that you have a TicToc account because I don't. You have some sweet vids over there, but they just can't compare with the full length ones here. I'll spend a few moments checking those out.
I am excited I found your chanel today. i'm now subscribed and anxious to see more of your videos. Have you ever considered a round over bit on a router table? Been thinking hard about an uv oven for a while and now I think I've found the solution. Thank you.
I have a 30 acre patch, but had to put it up for sale because I am not able to get around on it any longer. My 3 acre yard that's half wooded will have to do. Thanks for the stroll!
@@angrysturgeonlures3562 I know what you mean. LOL Once, I decided to burn the entire lure (shou sugi ban style) and not paint it except for the belly (to cover the lead). Well, the lip slot nearly burned away, so I had to fill it in extra while installing the bib.
A beautiful lure Bob! You sure can bring out the natural beauty of an old, otherwise useless hunk of timber. I've always liked your unique layering method. If I had a bandsaw, I would give it a go and try to make one.
Yup... I sand my lures too. I think we all do. It doesn't matter how, they all come out sanded and used for the same reason. The way in which someone sands a lure doesn't determine if it catches fish or not. In fact I seen someone put hooks and line tie on a stick and caught fish.
I've seen the "block of wood" lure videos, "ball of wood" lure videos, "stick" lure videos, where there is minimal effort put into the end product and it still catches a fish. With that in mind, why bother shaping or painting at all? There are a lot of fish that won't care either way. Simple answer, hand making lures is a skill and a craft. The more we care about how our final results turn out, the more effort we are willing to exert to make a beautiful and functional lure. Even if the fish will bite a stick, they will more readily bite into a lure that resembles their food chain. Not to mention, try selling that stick to other fishermen! 😂
@@iwasframed1370 depends on how it's read, I do have a passion for building lures. I do agree with you, much of it is about catching fishermen and the almighty dollar.
