I played guitar in a band in Leeds around 1980/81 with a band called performance anxiety we only played locally but someone got us a support slot for support band for the fall in the f club at the time.I didn't realise at the time the importance of the experience, I have a few fall albums now a bit of musical history there great times
One of the longest streaks of consistently great albums, M.E.S. and The Fall were always an absolute thrill in concert at the same time absolute masters of ego-less understatement, driving rhythm and utter cool. Nothing like it. One of the few bands I still listen to regularly after more than 40 years.
irritates me beyond belief that this is a single note and senseless rambling for most of the song and it is still head and shoulders above anything i’ve ever heard before.
I actually like this interpretation, he's deconstructing the versing of the song rather than assigning it a new meaning. It's obviously about a boy coming to terms with and exploring his sexuality but how this image and feeling is created goes beyond direct meaning and bleeds into instrumentals and language methods. They go hand in hand and he's showing us that
I'm 61 and was a big punk fan .but the Fall passed me by .I knew of them .but somehow never connected . The two sexy women , well placed to get noticed. Now starting to listen .
Mark E Smith was a Fabulist, a Munchausen, who seriously conned the serious arty farty types into believing he was a musical phenomena. In fact he was a talentless, bully and a F*****G C**T, whose alcoholism, was an example of his lack of ambition to pursue more interesting drugs. The worst kind of English entitlement that demands that everyone owes him a living just for being utterly dreadful.
You may not have been appreciated by the mainstream Mark, but The Fall’s impact on my own life has been monumental. Rest in peace hip priest. Your vibrations live on

Morrissey was on corrie and rode his bike through, which helped with the inspiration but I'd say having a punctured bicycle is a universal experience of youth and the first shot at freedom to explore and then why think too much - actually enjoy your youth, when you can rather than waiting for the burdens of domestic life, parents, work, futute, to be ok.
