Canadian Speedrunner focusing mostly on Final Fantasy VI and Chrono Trigger. Those two runs really spoke to me. Mostly grinding glitchless in them but once those times go down want to try other categories. Also trying to keep up to date for weekly highlights!
Locke, with 80-90% of his stat growths dedicated to Strength/Vigor and the remainder towards Agility, dual equipped with Atma Weapon / Illumina Sword (or Valiant Knife) with Offering will, by as early as level 75, deal 8 straight attacks of 9,999 damage to most enemies, and NEARLY ALL enemies by level 99. Anything and everything that can receive physical damage - up to and including Kefka - will be utterly steamrolled by this build. That Locke is one of only 4 characters in the game that can even equip the Atma Weapon at all is fairly remarkable on its own, imho - but his uniquely high Agility, though, is what sets him apart from the others, as the combination of a ridiculously fast speed and access to the game's most powerful physical weapons means that his physical DPS is technically among the highest - arguably THE highest - for any character in the game. Obviously, one will have to work hard at molding the-super-fast-but-not-naturally-strong Locke into the killing machine described above, but it's 100% doable - and, honestly, I think that's exactly what the developers of the game really intended for players to do: to create fun builds for characters in whatever design the player should see fit, without ever feeling held captive by rigid class roles and steretypes.
Gogo is the same as the FFV boss of the same name, they just hopped dimensions for whatever reason. FFV introduced the Interdimensional Rift which basically confirmed there is a semi shared Multiverse in FF hence why characters introduced in it come back verbatim not just as alternate universe versions but straight up the same character as their debut just traveling the multiverse cheifly Gilgamesh who when he shows up in FF8 directly comments wondering aloud where Bartz is confirming it is indeed the same character not just an alternate version. If Gilgamesh can dimension hop so can Gogo, his desperation attack in 6 is the same as his counterattack in the FFV boss fight as well.
Umaro's real utility is in the collosseum since you can't control the character in that anyway his berserker status is actually helpful as it removes the chance of the AI doing something stupid and instead just attacking every turn as is usually ideal anyway.
I was able to tune in on Twitch for a little bit (about 20 minutes) of this run right at Floating Continent and I'm impressed with how you got a PB! Getting so close to WR and I'm loving it.
5 Hours exactly. Congratulations for get it. For be more interesant and fun you must make the category All Characters and Espers, complete all is best. And in a future make how make Cordellium, a speddrun true 100%. Think it champion.
@@Bdewd It's a shame, a speedrun completing everything would be fun, but it's up to you. Likewise, All Characters and Espers covers pretty much 100% of the game. You will have more fun and a game is better played in its entirety. It will surely be better than any%
I remember the first time I faced off against the final boss gauntlet. My Locke was Lv. 99, had an Offering and Genji Glove equipped, Atma Weapon in one hand, Illumina in the other. I pressed "Fight" one time. Hit Kefka eight times, doing 9,999 damage each time. 79,992 damage. Kefka never even had a chance to attack me. He just died lol.
I wanna play this game everyday. I can't rush it, though. I gotta do it all. Wish there were a few things I i didnt know about, though. Never have saved Cid. Just recently learned it was possible. I mean, 3 or 4 years ago. Anyway. Vicariously through you, brother.
You seriously put Gogo over Celes? Garbage takes like this is why you only have 3.4K subscribers. Runic is super useful late game due to the sheer number of magic attacks the party takes from late game enemies. Celes is also the driving force behind the party's reunification in the World of Ruin. If she had died in her suicide attempt, the game would be over because no one else in the party took any kind of initiative towards finding each other. Terra remains a babysitter, Cyan keeps catfishing some poor girl, Edgar runs petty two-bit bandit crew, and your party loses out on not one but TWO airships. She should be top 4 if not number 1
I would give *Goblin* two different abilities, maybe three, nah lets make it four that are random. You get Goblin Punch, Goblin Slash and a possible third being Goblin Horde. Goblin Punch is a week attack and you have a 1/2 chance this would happen. It does have a 50% of causing confuse with an additional benefit of 50% causing berserk on top of that. So 1/2 of the time you would just do insignificant damage, 1/4 of the time (1/2 of 1/2) you can cause confuse on top of that and then a 1/8 (1/2 of 1/2 of 1/2) you can cause confuse and berserk with insignificant damage. Goblin Slash does four times as much damage as Goblin punch and you have a 1/3 chance that this would happen. You don't get the benefits of causing confuse or berserk on top of that. There is also a 50% chance of causing critical damage which will double it. That means you have a 1/3 chance to do 4x damage and a 1/6 chance to do 8x damage. Then there will be Goblin Horde. Goblin Horde has a 1/12 chance of happening and it will summon a horde of Goblins each which will do either a Goblin Punch, a Goblin Slash or a Goblin Taunt. The number of Goblins summoned is determine by Rydia's level. Which means you can summon a 100 goblins which can all do a regular goblin punch or 50 goblins doing Goblin Slash and 50 Goblins doing Goblin Taunt. It is very random and follows the same percentages for each Goblin as there is in one doing a taunt, punch of slash with the same probabilities for benefits that could arise. And then there is the a Goblin Taunt which also has a 1/12 chance of happening. Goblin Taunt has a 50% of doing absolutely nothing, 33% it will take up a turn of your enemy to attack the goblin wasting its turn which can help with Bahamut, and 17% chance (1/6) it will cause freight (which doesn't work on bosses) causing the enemy to lose attack and defense power, doesn't improve spells. For *Bomb* I wouldn't change much about it other than: 50% of just doing regular damage relative to Rydia's MAX HP + MAX MP, 25% it will do a critical hit for 2x damage to 1 target and 25% it could cause normal damage to all targets. Regardless of which way it hits, there is an additional 25% chance to cause confusion. So with hitting regularly, it has a 1/8 chance to cause confusion, 1/16 whether doing double damage or hitting an entire group of enemies to cause confusion. For *Cockatrice* it has a 90% of causing break to an enemy (doesn't effect bosses), but it will also cause damage relative to 2x Rydia's with her magic power state added to her attack power state with the same weapon she already has.
It wouldn't be so bad if you choose the time in the select bit rather than waiting for it, which delayed your other teammates from being able to do anything until Cyan had his turn completed, dragging the whole party down is what hurts Cyan. If that wasn't the case and it was just him being delayed, then you can just caste quick and haste on him and even if he is a little slow, it not so bad overall.
Plus about Celes, can absorb magic from enemies. Plus about Edgar, Chainsaw. Plus about Terra, Can double her attacks including spells in Esper form. Plus about Sabin, the Gigachad, need I say more? Plus about Cyan, he is Samurai Jack. Plus about Locke, he can steal. Plus about Gau, he can become a monster. Everyone else, meh.... Shadow has a dog and can throw, that is about it.
What I do find funny about the localisations of these games is that Midgardsormr was spelt correctly in this game but in FF7, somehow the translation became ‘Midgar Zolom’
Terra my favorite Who is Gogo Terra mother Why she was knock out by the empire not kill and was trained by Gogo on final fantasy 5 amnesia runs in that family or possibly doesn't know Terra as a adult.
To be honest, nowadays I find the espers useless. The last few times I've played this game, I've done the raft trick early in the game to level everyone to lvl 99. Celes and Terra will learn every spell naturally, except for ultima and holy, and everyone else will be so overpowered they don't need magic. I love being able to explore the abilities the characters initially come with while crushing every enemy the game throws at me.
Im sad to see the chainsaw did not get an extra point of two for style.... The Jason Voorhee mask is so much cooler then the drill helmet. Not saying it should be be higher just edging out the drill.
Am I alone in the fact that I have ALWAYS renamed the character in FF6 that when listening to this list you go "Sabin, Who?..... Oh you mean Bruce (Lee)." Yeah he's pretty good.
In low level runs, you can use the mu in the SNES to instakill Intangir for magic point farm. By no means a very powerful monster, but it has its uses. This is by far the best way to get magic leveled up for low level since intangir gives no XP.
Oh boy, a ff6 tier list! I hope they dont do my favorite auto fighter dir- *#14: Umaro* 😢😢😢 why! Doesnt anyone love this guy?! Doesnt anyone care about Sid the sl... i mean, Umaro the 'squatch? #13: gau Ok.... NOW I'm realy sad.... this guy is so much fun to use!
