One of the truly great love stories of Hollywood no many of those especially today they spend their time passing each other around like a ketchup bottle at a picnic
SO AMAZING HOW THEIR COMEDY HOLDS UP TO ANYONE TODAY. We're still watching & laughing, because their Comical genius bridges generations. I believe even 100 yrs. from now a whole new audience will be discovering how great GEORGE & GRACIE were & will continue to be.
Throughout this video, I'm getting sick and tired of all these people saying one thing...and then quickly back-pedaling or sidestepping themselves in order not to tarnish the "sacred image" of Gracie Allen. Sure, okay -- she was a pioneer -- but only because she was one of very few women in that profession! Let's call a spade a spade. She was talented, period. She was not God, for crying out loud.
such a great and likeable comedy team. My wife & I watch their TV show on Antenna TV. it is tremendously innovative & entertaining. George's best friend, Jack Benny, is also hilarious. their programs are so much better than anything being made today.
George Burns was a old pimp who used Gracie talented gift to get himself rich and famous. He never loved Gracie, he loved the money and fame she brought to him. He worked that woman and used her to her death. And everyone in this video and in these comments are trying to sugar coat the obvious. Hopefully and prayerfully GOD is showing this woman what true love, caring, peace, rest, and what true friendship really is. She truly deserves it after being around people's in this world who only used her for their own benefit.
Gracie made it all look effortless, and the actors who played opposite her seemed so truly to love her. She and Bea Benaderet were wonderful together as best friends, and it was all charming. Until watching this, I didn't realize how much I still miss the Burns and Allen Show.
A true treasure.... I have been watching all the old TV shows they did..... I just love her amazing comedic delivery.... It's old school comedy, that still stands the test of time.
I especially love the series of programs from New York; they are on youtube without commercials and young Ricky is utterly charming and gifted with impeccable timing!
What is interesting to me about Gracie is, you see her considerate and "Gracious" personality, you appreciate that this is her real personality, she plays jokes but you know she really is a socially graceful lady behind it all.
I feel sad that Gracie had to work so hard and long even though for years, before even the tv show, she wanted to retire. They didn't even need the money. Gracie didn't even get much time to enjoy the babies she wanted so much. Then she didn't get enough time to enjoy her grandkids, her shopping, nor her gossiping. Life can be so unfair. I'm sure Gracie and George--giving Gracie top billing where she belongs--have all the angels rolling in heaven. I know Gracie gets to be her authentic self in their new act.
My favorite comedy pair. Didn't George say one time the way I made a great living was. I would ask Gracie how is your brother and she talked our whole career. Something like that.
One of my favorite lines was actually towards beginning of a show. She entered with a bouquet of flowers, admiring them. Gracie had just returned from visiting a friend in the hospital. When George asked where she got the flowers, Gracie replied that she took his advice. George was confused. Gracie replied, "Well, George, you told me that when I went to see my friend, to take her flowers. So I did when she wasn't looking."
One of my favorite shows from this time period, too bad I'm only 20. Like a prequel to Keeping up with the Kardashians (which I don't watch) in that they are kind of playing themselves- except it was funny and well done :)
gracy alan was a sweet heart i love her cute voice & she was very pretty i wish there were more women like her now women today are nothing but mean evil bitches i hate the modern woman
jimster46 omg you're so right! I didn't really get into Allen and Burns until I was a bit older but I would watch golden girls in the early 90s with my grandma. It takes someone incredibly smart to play someone so stupid!
Who would say something in the verge of being derogatory about Gracie then quickly add a fake compliment to Gracie with that insincere laugh. Asshole. I loved my babies to bits but trust me if I could have had someone change those diapers especially the bad ones, I would have rejoiced. He made it sound like Gracie couldn't have quickly learned how to change a diaper. Again, ASSHOLE.
I think Gracie needed more magnesium in her diet. The nutrient helps stop migraines cold. It also calms a nervous heart and maintains peristalsis in the intestines as well as keep the adrenals from exhausting themselves. They were on the road a lot so Gracie's diet probably lacked for good nutrition. She had a high strung nervous temperament, so she probably lacked for rest. Magnesium also promotes a good sleep.
Actually, with her real age being 11 years older than she claimed, this shows she lived longer, dying the year before she'd turn 70. Rather than just before her 58th or 62nd birthday.
