@@ryanwatts9172 Adding an expansion chamber to the intake tube forces air coming back out of the engine to slow down to fill the cavity, thus expending a great deal of its energy and slowing the pressure wave reversion. This slowdown allows fresh air to flow toward the engine without fighting pressure reversion waves the entire way, thus aiding in cylinder filling. Since these pressure waves are essentially sound, giving them a place to expend their energy before exiting the air filter box ends up dampening the intake noise and quieting the engine. Thus, the resonator helps to make the engine paradoxically quieter and more powerful.
Firts, this is not a coild air intake the IAT's in hottes citys are going up about above 80° or 90°, in my 2017 Sparkthe air filter is behind the right fog light, and all is 2.5" aluminium pipe all this with a 6" air horn and 6 " air filter, at this way i reduce the IAT''s and the sound is great, but the AFR is lean and i tune with HP Tuners and the results are awesome
Nice so your engine can now suck in HOT engine bay air. Great way to reduce power. That was much better than pulling in cooler air from outside the engine bay.
Exactly! I tried this on my scooby and it was disastrous. Not only was it sucking in hot air as you mentioned but it fucked with my MAF sensor and it used more fuel.
Okay , anyone who knows anything about the intake system will understand whats wrong here , you can mod your intake by removing your resonator, but dont stupid and removing all the tubbing which can be routed to a cold spot 🤦🏻
Dumb question im sure, but is that the LS model? I think those are the only ones that you can get a 5 speed in. And im curious to know if the door locks, self lock when you start driving? Thanks
Should be noted that air/fuel is mapped based on that resonator being there so not having it will cause ware on the engine and that you shouldn’t mess with induction without having the car re tuned which isn’t normally an option on nas engines. And like the commenter below you’re now taking in hot air from the engine compartment. If you were to do this for whatever reason you would want to mount a hose from the box to the wheel well where it can bring in cool air
@@jeffmellor2507 I'm not sure how old you are but I remember when civics were a grocery getter no teen wanted. Then the fast and furious came out and they became all the rage over night. Just wait till someone puts up a video or movie and someone has a spark you wouldn't be able to stock these fast enough. Also it's a new car and in 10 years when they are cheaper and the teens with a job but no bill's or responsibly with pockets of throw away cash start making these thing go faster you have buyers.
