WELCOME to my channel! I'm Liza, interior designer, proud wife and dream chaser. If you love interior design inspiration and tips, and getting an inside view of a day in the life of an interior designer, this channel is for you! We embarked on quite the adventure over the last year moving from Delaware to Hawai'i and now, back to Delaware! The lessons we learned, risks we took and experience we gained have helped shape our story of HOME. I'd love to have you join me on this exciting and very real journey! SPREAD KINDNESS. The world is filled with enough negativity, if you have nothing nice to say, be well and simply move forward. Let's get to it!
I believe I did in this prior video of the renovation series (sorry, I don't recall at the moment, it was over 3 years ago now...crazy!): ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZopAmp0iJh8.html
I stumbled across your channel today while I was looking for something on how to choose kitchen hardware. I was so thrilled to find a designer in Hawaii! I have a vacation rental condo on Maui that needs a lot of updating. And then I checked out your condo renovation videos and was thrilled again because I recognized the space! My son and his family live in a 2 bedroom/2 bath in Mauna Luan (which they absolutely love.) You can’t imagine my disappointment went I got to the end and learned you moved back to the mainland. C’est la vie.
I hope the video was helpful! I'm always amazed at how small this world is -- we did love the Mauna Luan and our space...wish we could have kept it! I'm sure your son and fam love the grounds, just awesome. Headed back soon on vacation...!
Hi Nicole, thanks for this video. I had soapstone in my house in New Mexico and I loved it so much more than granite. For one thing my preference for wine is red wine and with that you have to be careful with granite. It’s safe to put something super hot off the stove or from the oven on soapstone. I got it because I love to bake pies and shortbreads all full of lard or butter and because the soapstone is infused with oil you can rollout right on the counter. The coldness of the stone keeps the butter in your dough solid longer
Thanks much- your explanation of both the function and the finish were helpful because we are cosmetically changing bathroom vanity. The detail of the knob handles and one’s hand size were informative. We appreciate the time and energy that you expended bringing this to us. Greetings from Chicago
Thanks for watching! Each plank has various tones and in the sun, reads differently than in the shade. I would not say that it appears golden once fully laid. I highly suggest you order a full plank sample (they will all look just like that) and place it in various areas of your space to make sure it's the best fit for you! I've also got more images on my website: www.lizanicoleinteriors.com/luxury-small-kitchen
It’s great when your job is only a few steps away. A home office is true luxury - you don’t have to get up early to catch the bus and get stressed in the traffic and you can take a break whenever you feel you need it. Another bonus is that you get to design and decorate your working space however you find appropriate. Starting from the choice of the furnishings and the rug to decorative items and paint on the walls. The only goal is for you to feel comfortable, inspired and motivated. Anyways, read the below. This might help. www.namasteui.com/inspirational-design-tips-for-your-home-office/ -- Regards, Sourav Basak Namaste UI
Hi, Gerry. Just finishing up a kitchen design whereby I used a variety of 3 sizes throughout! There's no magic formula, however, the goal is to achieve balance and consistent scale throughout. This kitchen design is a U-shape so being consistent on all of the upper cabinets, even though they were a mix of 42"L and 30"L, was important. I went with 5 1/16"L on those. The lower cabinets in the U were a mix of cabinet doors and drawers with varying sizes and each selection reflected the owner's need to pull the handles easily (larger in length on the 24"W drawers, using 6 5/16"L pulls), and balance of the smaller cabinets (the utensil pull out was 12"W so I used a 3 3/4"L pull). For the large pantry cabinets flanking the fridge and additional areas we added (56"L), I used the largest pull of my selections at 7 9/16"L). Hopefully this example helps in understanding how I come up with sizes based on the design -- best wishes to you!
Thank you! The cabinets are Kemper and the color within the Kemper line is called Dove. It may be their own color but a light beige with gray undertones is a good description of the color to look within SW or BM paints. Best wishes with your kitchen!
Your Flooret flooring looks amazing! I’m on the Big Island and am wondering how much shipping was for the sq. footage you purchased. Which freight co. did you use and did Flooret recommend a local installer?
Thank you! Our shipment weight was 2,580lbs. and we used Honolulu Freight Service as our forwarder out of Long Beach, CA -- I believe it was around $680. As a designer, I already had my flooring person lined up but I've heard they can recommend people for you.
Hi Liza! Thanks for the video! I found you to be the only real life install of the Sutton color of your Flooret floors. How's it held up over the last (almost) year?
I enjoyed this video. I'm building a beach house and choosing my hardware. My kitchen cabinets are white and decided on the black hardware but, my island is a gray and I was thinking of brushed nickel there which will match my faucet which is in the island. You answered my question on " does it have to match" so thank you.
Absolutely! Mixing metals is a great way to add visual interest, the key is to repeat the finishes in the space. So if you're doing black hardware on your main cabinets, think about having your lighting fixtures have a black finish to tie it in and accessorize to repeat the brushed nickel. Cheers to beach life!
The over-the-door hooks hold a good bit of weight because the stability comes from the door vs. a wall (why I love using doors for this purpose)! There's probably weight limits noted on the hook you're interested in. Have fun!
Valid concern! I haven't had the issue (the heavier the item hung, in my experience, the less it moves around). You could also add felt pads to the mirror to prevent any scraping on the door.
if it's flat on the back of the mirror, why not add some double sided carpet tape? if there's a gap you can stick on some poster board or foam board and then the carpet tape, while still being hung from the door. if you aren't allowed to paint the door/walls use some temporary removable stick on wallpaper on the door (cut to size of mirror before using the carpet tape, since over time the carpet tape may dry and cake onto the door or the removal of carpet tape may also remove paint on the door. make sure you get the correct removable wallpaper, (you can use contact paper but it is a pain to remove). removable peel and stick wallpaper may leave residue but can be cleaned up with soap and water)
Love the soapstone. My question is do go pick out a slab of soapstone the same way you would if it were granite? I would love to do new counter tops and after seeing yours, soapstone would be a consideration. Thank you for sharing. Just beautiful!❤️
Yes! Selecting any material (natural or man-made depending on where you're purchasing from) essentially works the same way. Your main consideration, if just replacing the counters, is how it will affect your current cabinets and sink...the installation process may prove difficult -- be sure to ask the installers what's involved and/or if there are any risks to consider before you make the leap.
Liza Nicole Thank you I never thought how it affect exciting cabinets. I don’t think I would be able to replace cabinet too. But I’ve wanted new counter tops for a long time.
