During Cuban missile crisis they were having nuclear drills 7 minutes until midnight. 1980s Cold War era peak films like The Day After, Treads, War Games etc making the world aware of the dangers of nuclear war. But 2024 nothing CNN and western media focusing on every little thing Trump does to distract from the real threat. Looking at media from europe and they are preparing for nuclear war with documents of nuclear war survival in Germany along with Eastern European fronts. The USA is the least prepared fall out shelters are falling apart. ICBM from Russia can hit the USA in 30 minutes. Hypersonic missile from nuclear sub 15 minutes. Good point... ground based silos are basically sponges to soak up the other side's nukes... Air force is too iffy because it can be intersepted... but those subs... they can refuse to fire... or they can fire way later

The chaos that exists in the world can be laid at the feet of the US. Who is constantly "poking the bear"? There's no way that Ukraine, which was a leading member of the USSR, is vital to our national security. As for Taiwan, it's part of China. No piece of real estate is worth a nuclear war.
WW3 will not use nukes in my opinion, I dont think they will ever be used again unless a mistake is made or a system failure causes it somehow. It will be a drone/air and sea war with A LOT of conventional bombs.

I was working at Kwaj in the late 70's and early 80's in charge of the SDR's on Legan and Gellinam. We "scored" the water and land impacts with the SDR (Splash Detection Radars). The beach crashes were the hardest to "score". You had to play the radar video tape over and over to see the change in the land scape on the beach. We did make a tour of Legan to view the crater the warhead made. Some of the debris went into the warehouse building just up from the beach.
