Howdido, I’m Trent the self-proclaimed “Tyrant of Folk” and as you’ve probably already guessed from the title, I’m quite terrible. Instead of torturing you with my playing, I’m here to offer shaky iPhone videos of a few of the best rulers of folk.
Disclaimer: I have no affiliation with the artists. These videos were made solely for my own future viewing. I do not seek to profit or gain from these recordings. If people continue to enjoy the content I’ve collected and the artists are generous enough to allow their performances to remain on RU-vid, I’ll continue to share.
I hope you enjoy watching and I want to give a big thanks to all of the performers for putting on a fantastic show. There’s much more to come, so stay tuned banjer pickers!🎵🪕
I used to see Erik Frandsen perform in the early 70s when he had a full head of hair, a moustache and a band - he always put on a great show with wonderful original and cover songs
Enjoyed lovely Dink's farewell song from the Brazos river, that runs through Texas...singing to the drone in D..... "if I had wings like Noah's Dove..." what a beauty! x
Thank you, Peggy and Calum, I enjoyed 'The right to life' had a 'heated disciussion' about this very recently. It feels as if ‘pro lifers’ are really saying ‘Dont kill the fetus, wait until it can walk and talk before you murder it!’ If the U.S are so pro life, they should surely ban guns? In America you don't have a constitutional right to safe abortion, but you do have a constitutional right to purchase a weapon that you want to use in a school shooting. The American Taliban. 'Forced birthers' who embrace the death penalty, vote against child health and welfare measures, who sit on their hands when schoolchildren are slaughtered by weapons of war. Should Keep religion out of Politics, if you don’t want an abortion, don’t get one. Freedom of religion is “Hey that’s against my religion, so I can’t do that” NOT “Hey that’s against my religion so YOU can’t do that.” I also enjoyed, 'Liberation Rolls.' lovely joined in by Peggies, with 'Oh How I Long For Peace' thank You Brooklyn Folk Festival from Rory, Scotland UK.💚👍
The Grand Dame of Bluegrass music. Unbelievable that she is almost 90 years old. It must be the music that keeps her young. She is an inspiration for the younger generation as is shown here. No age-gap is noticable. May she go on forever.
Thank you for uploading the video! I saw this performance at George Mason University in Fairfax, VA on November 5th, 2023. Yes, you have to be in the audience to experience the real magic.... It was just unbelievable! Although all of the performers totally killed it, Wu Man (pipa), Sandeep Das (tabla) and Yazhi Guo (suona) were my personal favorites.... I hope I will see them again in November of this year, when they return as Artist-in-Residence to Mason.
Awesome to watch her play Cumberland gap as a grown (ish) lady after watching her learn with Lee Sexton as a youngin. What an lucky lass to be able to fall back on experiences like that. I love that it was recorded and I get to reference them too.
Amazing! Thanks for sharing! Love all the songs and finally figured “morphine” playing along. Hope the foot heals soon! God, I love the last song and final surprise! What a jewel! Did they record this song?
Thanks for posting these recording! It was my first time at the festival, but it definitely won't be my last, and it's great to be able to relive these performances. Charlie Parr was absolutely one of the highlights.
