I Love Kala instruments. Have you tried Gator Cases for a possible case for your tenor and I am really interested in the same tenor Guitar cause I play Baritone Ukulele also. Wonderful review Thanks
I've just got into fifths tuning on ukulele and am loving it. I have a set of Aquilla concert fifths on a concert ukulele and have them cranked up to D instead of C for greater tension and better pick response for plectrum style playing. This really does feel and play like a mandolin. A capo at the fifth fret and it sounds the same too. I'm calling it my folkalele because it works so well for all the twiddly diddly folk fiddle tunes I'm playing on it. It's inspired me to start looking into getting a mandola now to be somewhere between a mandolin and a bouzouki.
I tuned mine to GDAE by removing the G and B Uke strings (D [G] [B] E):moving the uke D to the G position, tuning it up to 'A'. Then, installing normal tension nylon guitar stings: A-5th where the D [uke] was, and G-3rd where the B [uke] was. Last just tune the new A-5th string down to G, and G-3rd up to A. I did this on my "Caramel CB103 30 Inch High Gloss Zebra Wood Baritone Acoustic Electric Ukulele With Truss Rod" and I am quite pleased. I don't know if tenor banjo strings will be to much tension or not since the bridge looks a bit light, but the current set up has been very stable and I have not had to mess with the truss rod (which is unusual in ukes anyways).
Little guitar, or are you a giant? Lovely interpretation ;~) Postscript.... I'm an idiot not looking at screen~ that's a Ukulele! Just had to listen to "A Forest" and their first TV appearance in 79, Rob Smith looks so young like he might of just left school. Next will be All Cats Are Grey
Brian I'm using standard classical guitar strings normal tension, from high to low 1st tuned to a, 3rd string tuned to d, 4th string tuned to g, 5th string tuned to C. Hope that helps! 😆 Cheers.
