8:05. Game 1 of the '55 World Series is at Yankee Stadium, but it's Tex Rickards, the Ebbets Field P.A. announcer's voice you hear instead of Bob Sheppard's.
Thank you for uploading this game. This was played the week before, on October 26th, 1985, and aired by the old Pro-Am Sports System out of Detroit. Former Tigers television play-by-play man Larry Osterman was paired with former UM quarterback Dennis Franklin. Michigan would be "upset" at Illinois a week later, a 3-3 tie against the Illini that ultimately gave Iowa the conference title. The 1985 Big Ten season was an interesting one. Iowa had the best quarterback in Chuck Long but never truly recovered after the loss at Ohio State. The Buckeyes probably had the most talent in the conference but underachieved. I believe an undefeated, untied Michigan team would have defeated UCLA in the Rose Bowl to win the national championship voting over Oklahoma, but they were done in by the Iowa and Illinois games. Cheers!
Byron Keith was an actor. He played the cop the private eyes on 77 Sunset strip always worked with. One of the audience “winners” was Ron Silver - there was also an actor by that name.
Who knew the Dodgers would essentially be finished with any real glory when Vinnie voiced this 1990 ish tribute ! No amount of money & or talent seems to work anymore ! The 2020 thing was a joke & MLB with its current make up is in it's Death Throes, just like this world system !!!
You gotta love the tactic of letting the clock run down for the final kick, only to allow time left on the clock after the kick. You can read his lips, Gary Moeller tells Grbac to call the time-out with 4 seconds left. Nowadays, no coach would leave 4 seconds on the clock for any FG attempt, let alone a 20-yard FG. 2-3 seconds max. This one second allowed UCLA to heave up a Hail Mary. This game could have went from one of the more memorable Michigan finishes of all time, to being in the column of a Red Rocket Right disaster.
I remember Jackie giving that apeech at the 1972 Series. As a matter of fact, that's the only thing about that Series I remember. RIP Jackie. You belong on Mt. Rushmore.
My Mom had Honey Nut Cheerios while I had Honey Bunches of Oats that morning, then I had a Fall Allergies, Sinus acting up because Seasons Changed I took a Zicam Cold Medical mixed up with Minute Maid Juice while I was watching Volume TWO of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles on the DVD when I had the VHS/DVD Combo by Magnavox courtesy of Uncle Jay back in Early February 2006.
The dodgers have spent more years in LA than they did in Brooklyn at this point. Few alive today ever saw the Brooklyn team. It's nice nostalgia, but that's about it. I'll give the Dodgers (Branch Rickey) credit for changing the face of America by bringing Jackie Robinson up to the majors in 1947. After that, the only thing you can say about today's dodgers is they have lots of money and like the Yankees it gives them a credible team every year. The reality is they spend twice as much as everyone else and the results are still not much better than everyone else.
Back then, the rule of thumb was you shot from the corner on high volume or longer distance oil. Of course back then there were no pattern graphs, either.
i wonder what top fashionistas in 1970 would have said in regards to Mr. Ritger in his those blueish pants with that untucked lemon lime collar shirt, or, for that matter, Mr. Davis Christmas in springtime wear lol. Mr. Ritger is wearing the coolest looking bowling shoes ive ever seen, looks Italian, which, of course, is befitting of the pba image head.
It's unfortunate many people today don't know Don Johnson was as good as the top bowlers in the sport. He had as many titles as Earl Anthony and Dick Weber for a number of years.
Remember this game clearly, was doing errands, heard the first half on radio with Tom Kelly, got home in time for epic comeback. This game drove Ara Parseghian into retirement, he could not bear the thought of watching that "horse" again, so many disappointments at the Coliseum. In 1964 and 1970, USC ruined undefeated Notre Dame seasons.
@@patrickfurlong9169 I won’t take time to defend Schembechler I know once other Michigan fans see this they will come after you with a vengeance. But Bo did kind of change with the times when Anthony Carter came along. Everybody was about the running game back then. (And didn’t take him damn near a decade to beat Ohio St.)
