www.youtube.com/@t34263 Blues singer who sold out "Satan": Robert Johnson The story of an artist who makes a pact with the devil to achieve worldwide success. Robert Johnson has been considered one of the world's most famous blues singers since ancient times. He became a legend He went from being unable to play the guitar to being the most talented musician the world has ever known. Legend has it that he made a pact with the devil. He, like his wife and son, died in his sleep. Then his second wife died. And his end is mysterious because his grave has not been found. 1- How was Robert Johnson's youth? When Robert Leroy Johnson was born in Hazlehurst, Mississippi on May 8, 1911, his life was already unusual. His mother, Julia Dodds, had fathered ten children before him with her farmer husband, Charles. But Robert was born out of wedlock. Because his father was a farm worker named Noah Johnson. 2- Before Johnson was born, Charles Dodds was forced to move to Memphis and change his name. After the white landowner kicked him out of town When Johnson was only three or four years old He went to live with his father in Tennessee. 3- In the city, his life improved when he went to school and discovered folk music. Meanwhile, his older brother taught him how to play the guitar. 4- Many years later, he returned to the Mississippi Delta. where he lives with his mother and her new husband, Dusty Willis. 5-Robert Johnson: At the age of nineteen he married Virginia Travis. But she died in childbirth a year later. Shortly thereafter, in 1931, Robert married his second wife, Coletta Kraft, who also died a few years later. 6- Johnson lived in the Mississippi Delta in the early 1900s. He began playing music when he was young. But no one was impressed with his music. His music teacher, Son House, told him, “Put down your guitar, you're driving people crazy!” However, Robert Johnson didn't give up on the guitar. He continued to practice. But despite my best efforts But he could not improve. One day, Johnson disappeared and no one knew where he was. For six months, the Mississippi Delta was free of Robert Johnson's annoying music. 7- People say that Robert Johnson went out one night to a crossroads in the Mississippi Delta. And legend has it that he stood tall for a long time. And at exactly midnight A tall man dressed in black suddenly appears, and it is said that he is: a demon. 8. Robert Johnson begged the devil to make him a talented musician. And he agreed on one condition. That is what the devil promised Robert. Johnson is the greatest blues musician in the world, trading on Johnson's soul. And an agreement was reached. When Johnson re-emerged on the Mississippi Delta scene, he was a talented blues musician who could sing, write songs, and even play guitar! Even when Johnson was playing. People also swore they heard two guitars. The audience looked around. Looking for a second guitarist Who does he play with? No one had ever seen a second guitarist before. This led many to believe that "Satan" was playing with Johnson, and others to believe that Johnson could make his guitar sound like two voices. 9- Johnson accepts his deal with the devil: The American artist sings of his suffering with "Satan" and sends hidden messages through his writings. Although his career was cut short due to his mysterious death at a young age, But his songs speak for themselves. 10- One of his first songs after that was “Crossroad Blues” and the song said “I went to a crossroads. And I fell to my knees And I asked the Lord above, “Have mercy on me, now help the poor.” Please.' Yes, I stood at a crossroads and tried to recount the journey. His spirit was sinking. and in the song “Hellhounds on my trail,” he said. “I must keep moving. The blue sky was falling like hail. And many days have made me worry. There are hellhounds on my trail. (Legend has it that the devil sent his dogs to gather souls for him, and that no one could see him except on his terms. All I need is a little time But everywhere I go I saw the wind blow harder. and the leaves tremble on the trees. * Let's listen to his hit songs. To understand its brutal history (...)
LYRICS: "Ah, this morning I almost not woke up. Ah, this morning I almost not woke up. Gotta get a cup of coffee but my money is all gone. Tried to fall back to sleep again. Tried to fall back to sleep again. I dreamt of buying coffee with money sent for free. Then in my dreams I went to work on a bar. In my dreams it wasn't very far. Played guitar on the stage. And Clapton said I'd go star."

Hi. Carrying on from my last post re- adding more info to your blues lessons, is it not possible to use technology now which can change commentary from one language to another? ie Japanese to English. Just a thought as this would enable you to truly, teach to all. and make things much easier for those wanting to follow you. I’ve almost got this number down now but it’s been exceedingly tough to do by just watching, over and over again. Keep them coming. Best regards. Pete.
Je vous remercie. Désolé, je ne suis pas très doué pour la notation musicale. Je posterai une version lente plus tard et je serai heureux de vous aider.
Absolutely love this lesson from yourself. I realise you have now this slowed down version which helps tremendously but might you actually do this lesson broken down, section by section as a lesson? Or do you only do visual run throughs. Thanks anyway and again just love it. 😊
Thank you! I am glad to be of service. I am Japanese and not good at English. However, I want to bring my knowledge to the world, so I am sending it out in English. It's difficult to break it down and explain it, so I hope you can watch the video and get some hints.
Hey SBG, I recorded a song recently called "Rosetta West - Elmore's Blues" (on RU-vid). It's in the same vein and I hope you enjoy it if you check it out. I think your tone and precision is excellent. I wear my slide on my middle finger, which seems to be a rarity, but I can't understand why more guitarists don't catch on to the advantages. Well, to each his own. Thanks for the video
after decades of unfocused playing, I’m turning attention to standard slide blues. But this is absolutely beautiful, and I have to keep a guitar tuned open just for you man…. Subscribed!
