I am in total agreement with Bono on this one! Phones have totally ruined the concert experience not only for the performers but for many of the audience members as well. I think all artists should ban them when performing.
Ordinarily I have no particular positive thoughts on the three judges, but seeing their reaction after Susan began to sing is a credit to all three of them.

At the time it really pissed me off seeing people laughing and making "as if" faces. Judging her on appearance rather than talent. I had a feeling she was going to be good, stoked when she was.

This captures an interesting moment in history. This is from 2005 when camera phones were starting to become mainstream. It must have been a strange adjustment for musicians to suddenly start seeing everyone with their phones out recording.

People in this world can be to judgemental because of the way they look dress talk and laugh at you it's a horrible feeling inside Susan stood there so proud I admire this woman and she showed everyone in the theater what she was made of and I love her and would love to meet her she is so down to earth I am a X singer won completions but had two kids and put them first I would love to go back to start singing again but I am nearrly 70 and can't walk very well or stand for long singing is a big part of my life but like I said judgemental people I no I can write songs and poetry but never pushed myself because of people who judge Susan took a chance and look at her today wish I could turn back the clock good luck Susan big hug,s Lynda Liverpool xxx

I so, so love this video - almost as if it came from a movie - a true Cinderella story. I choke up EVERY time I see it, and I've seen it quite a lot. I love watching the judges reactions. Before Ms. Boyle sings - open skepticism (although Amanda appears less judgmental). Two seconds into her performance - stunned shock and joy, and after - overwhelmed. If you look closely Pierce is choking up, Amanda is transfixed and checking her emotions, and Simon - at first surprise and later just soaking in Susan's performance: his face in his hands taking a deep breath and smiling wide, so in love with Susan and the moment. Simon looks as if he's listening to an angel. One of the few performances I can think of I wish I'd seen in person, just so I could stand and applaud with everyone else. Well done, Ms. Boyle. Your performance - and YOU - are an inspiration.
