So, I have been watching the video and reliving the concert. What a treat. Really glad this has been issued as a video as well as the CD. Bob, I hope I'm not the first to suggest this should be a Grammy nomination!! The recording quality is excellent but the music and performance deserves the nomination.

And boy, could he tell a story when he improvised. He (along with perhaps a couple of others) rewrote the rules of jazz harmony and pioneered a new way of playing on those changes. What’s even more astounding is that back when I was really listening to him (a half a century ago), I sometimes had to slow a track to half speed to really hear what he was doing. He was a once in a lifetime musician who’s life of tragedy breaks my heart, yet his music always lifts my spirit

a real test to see how long you've been watching Bobs content is the first time you remember seeing his kids cause man...or man... on that metric ive been watching for a while now LOL

Great to hear you with your band Bob and your people.. Not a diss on Snarky at all --- but i really enjoy you doing your own thing as i do Janek too. We all must do other gigs, Yet the difference is so clear, More of your band and same to your brother Janek

Great point about transcribing...I always use other peoples work for inspiration. Before writing sessions...I would always put music on that was very specific to what I was writing or practicing at that time.

If you threw a fuzz pedal and a chorus on that saxophone, it would sound sick!

I think for it all to work, you have to be performing all the time, or as much as possible. If you are only ever in your bedroom, the performance side doesn't get a chance. To get to perform all the time you've got to be willing to play any gig, at least to begin with, I think. This is from a non-performers point of view.

Huzzahs all around for the wire choir. Nice stuff, Bob. Smooth...so smooth and smoky. I love how different it all sounds compared to Snarky. So much sonic territory is taken up by all the keys and horns. This has so much space. The guitar players always know how to use as little as possible to get an atmosphere. And all the solos are so tasty and absolutely on point.
