Wow. I was there at the port (Guernsey) (were you set ur small boat)earlier around 7:30pm trying to catch some fish. No luck. Watching ur video now, looks so satisfying. Great quality. New to fishing and new to the island. Fishing is hard work but fun. Going tto try again 2mrw including crabbing. Thanks for the video.
Thanks a lot for the kind comment. I have had years to learn and still learning a lot. Stick at it and persevere and you will start catching. There are also a lot of experienced local anglers to learn from, best of luck 🐟 🐟
Very few fish taste as good as fresh mackerel on the grill, setting up early, enjoy the sun rise of what is going to be a beautiful early June day on the water, back at home for lunch, set up the grill, collect few new potatoes straight from the garden, those that have the skin so thin- you can just rub it off with the palm of your hand. Fish has been cleaned at sea, just need a bit of salt, pepper and olive oil inside and place on the grill on their back, when the meat near central bone starts changing to white and skin is crusty they're good to come off, on their backs no need to turn them and brake them in the process, the potatoes have run dry in the pot and covered with coarse sea salt to form a semi burned crust. Enjoy outside garden table with family and friends with a farm fresh cider. This is my heaven. Often stop to drop mackerel to family friends and father's friends if still alive but try not to get trapped cause they will always offer a drink and time to get home may get seriously extended haha. thank you!
Great stuff and good on you for donating them. I got a bunch of scad (horse mackerel) from Chesil beach the other day - taste even better than mackerel in my view!
Wasn’t there a restriction on mackerel not to long ago? that setup to catch them worked perfect. I do the same thing for our community with my extra harvest of squashes the food bank and nursing homes appreciate them.
Thanks Mike, appreciate it Hope you enjoy the cruise ! Are you planning on doing any fishing? I’ve always wanted to go to Cabo San Lucas 🐟 maybe one day 🐟
Go ahead long liners kill everything in the ocean so you can get rich. For those of you who don’t know the incidental catch that they can’t sell is dead by the time the lines are brought in it is a travesty. I am a fisherman and I understand the deal but there is so much waste involved in long liners there has to be a better way to
The big guys possibly, small day boats only leave the lines down for a couple of hours, everything surfaces alive so small catch and bycatch can be returned 🐟
