I graduated high school in 1975. Wish You Were Here came out. Blow By Blow by Jeff Beck Physical Graffiti Toys in the Attic Welcome to My Nightmare Young Americans etc. What a year for music 🎶 What a year to graduate 🎓!
This house band needs to get guest musicians to do more rock, blues, soul romps more often, like Bruce Springsteen. They could've done his "Tenth Avenue Freeze Out" or "Kitty's Back."
Got this album when it first was out in 1977. It was and still is my favorite Pink Floyd album. I listen to it all the time yet. Intense lyrics with such killer music. Love it!
Love that song - I’m a huge new wave fan and so many new wavers themselves loved the experimental psychedelic music of the late 60s. It’s also a Syd song so it always breaks my heart to hear it.
I can’t believe that one of the Wall concerts was never filmed. If there is one, please remaster the soundtrack and clean up the film. Millions of Floyd fans would love to finally see this in its proper glory.
I’m a huge Pink Floyd fan, Dark Side was spinning at most parties then (a very cool time) but haven’t heard that one. I’ll get it on vinyl. You’re coming through in waves.!
David said it here. The album was intended from the start to be a Pink Floyd album, but the idea was entertained that if things didn't go as planned, it would just be another solo album for him. Of course, the guy who chose to leave and sue the band, twisted things around, and stirred the pot on their fans. But, Momentary Lapse was intended as a Floyd album (a great one too) from the start. Yes, I know Rick was barely on it, as was Nick (who still contributed sound effects to songs, even ones he didn't play drums on).
This is the strangest thing that only Pink Floyd fans understand… Dark Side of the Moon is the greatest album ever made but it’s not Pink Floyd’s best album… that would be Wish you were Here
As I think for the majority of Floyd fans Animals as you get older, Animals is Floyd's GREATEST ALBUM..!! Eclipsing DSOTM, WYWH and The Wall due to the fact that it's each individual band members best parts/ and works, all playing Masterpiece solo parts from Gilmour's lead guitar and Roger's and Dave' bass parts, Rick's amazing keyboard riffs and Nick's driving drum signatures + Even though Roger wrote the lyrics/album in 1977, Well it's just as relevant now as it was then..!! Mist probably more so due to Capitalist World's GREED in 2024..!! "It's All About The Money and Proxy Wars being fought across The Planet (ie) Arms Contracts and Oil Grabs..!! 💰💰💰
@@terrencereardon6374 It's all about opinions..!! But I think (just my opinion) that the discord that Roger had started basically becoming 'A Control Freak' and Rick being the brunt and with David Gilmour being his best mate I think maybe it's not easy to give your own appreciation of your own work..!! Specially when the WAR had really kicked in , in the band..!! Really Really Sad as I adore Roger but he even admitted himself back before him, David and Polly have put themselves as immovable objects..!! Rock and a Hard Place..!!
Amazing album & without Roger makes it even better where they can create what they wanted and damn is it an incredible album 🤘🎸🤘it took all 4 or 5 counting Syd to make the music they gave us and all their talents together to give us Pink Floyd and if you believe Roger is Pink Floyd then you are blind. David can write the BEST solos and guitar parts , Mason drums are incredible and Roger Wright.. the best damn Keyboardist ever! Roger writes good lyrics but not all are great. The point is like Led Zeppelin.. it took those 4 incredible musicians together to give us what we got! Once Roger left we got a newer/better version of Pink Floyd IMO 🤘🎸🤘
This video is absolutely genius. Thank you so much for creating and sharing this. This album brings tears to my eyes, and I am so moved that Roger Waters was in tears when he used to play this song. I suppose that is why it is so powerful - because the music and the lyrics are authentic. Waters: Just be honest and say what you feel.
As an American who is a huge fan of Floyd, I found it quite interesting to learn that "Hey you, White House..." is actually "Whitehouse." I didn't know of her until now. What a proper c**t she must've been.
