I used tiger sniper chalk for a long time and had 0 issues it’s clean chalk and doesn’t get on my hands. But I’ve used taom and Roku as well and there pretty good. Now that I watched this imma give premium x a try, because I use magnetic chalk holders and I’m hoping it’s a best of both worlds between taom and tiger sniper
Would love to see this test done where a buddy of yours does the chalking and you just do the shooting so you don't know what chalk is being used. It's a pretty simple way to take out any bias you may have towards the different chalks.
I use the V10 especially at home. It's by far the cleanest but doesn't seem to give you more grip. Or let you hit further outside without miscuing. But you don't miss cue you very often. I will say that with my experience the kamui 0.98 offers the most grip but is terribly messy. When that dot on the cue ball hits the object ball it's going to skid. Just not worth the mess and the skids.
I used all the chalks from the video, except Great White. I have the best experience with TAOM Pyro, I currently use Roku but TAOM Pyro is much cleaner than Roku. I also tried Kamui Kageki a few days ago, very similar chalk to 0.98, nothing special. I would like to try Great White as well, but it is impossible to get it in the Balkans and even in Europe, I mostly got all the others in Europe. All the best, great video, I think the new Predator chalks will be solid, but not in the same range as Kamui and TAOM. Keep making videos like this, congrats, you're doing great and I hope the channel gets more and more famous and I hope I can get a Great White to complete my 'collection'.
Maybe someone could send you some over from the US. Great white chalk is awesome!! I have several pieces of it, all different colors. And I just ordered 10 pieces of taom in different types too. I’d say they are both on par with eachother though I haven’t used taom yet, just going off what others say.
Taom Pyro chalk is only suitable for tip Soft or M. I once had a Zan Japan H with TAOM Pyro chalk, it is difficult to rub the chalk. Now I'm currently using diamond blue and it's fine. How are ZAN Japan H tips ending? I'm wondering whether to buy tip kamui athelete or Japan nishiki M or H with TAOM pyro.I don't know whether to start playing M tip.
@@mirodrewniaq9865 I'm currently using HOW Titan S tip and Roku chalk, I'm really happy with results, Roku became my GO2 chalk, I was switching between Predator Pure M and Roku recently, really like both of them, V10 and Pyro are still great, sometimes I play with them also. Zan tips are very good in my opinion, I played with soft and with Hybrid Max, liked them on my Revo shaft, but HOW Titan is best on the market rn in my opinion. I will get more chalks to try in the future but I think that there are only few of them left to try.
That miscue you're talking about in your video, had NOTHING to do with the chalking of the cue. He aimed WAY too low on the ball. This is the FIRST thing you learn about when starting any type of cue pool. He was so low, that he was extremely close to having to pay for a new pool table cloth
Would love to see the new Mexican made version of magic chalk compared to the Russian made version, I have a few of the Russian made ones and will be trying myself but would like to see/hear others opinions on it
That's not a good test, it's not how many shots a chalk can make without miscue. Do a long hard draw and you'll notice blue diamond and predator gives a lot more grip and spin due to the friction, you'll miscue a lot with masters and other cheap ones
Only thing I don't like about great white chalk is that the magnet is backwards and doesn't stick to ANY other chalk holders except there own holders. So every correct holder will not work
Having a grey table I tried to taom 2.0. Shit got all over my table. I know it's not the v10. But I have a hard time believing it won't turn my table green.
try to make a video about chalk that does all the job. not only for playing cue. because i think that taom v1o is good with leather tip, but try it on your jump cue or even break cue ✌
A lot of my local pool halls only allow blue chalk to be used on their tables. Knowing that the V10 is a green chalk, what was your favorite premium blue chalk based on feel?
Being hampered on the rail and stretching, I think Alex miscued due to a poor stroke. Thanks for the best chalk comparison out there. Being a Blue Diamond fan, now I'm gonna have to try the Longoni (same company that makes Blue Diamond)
Hard to say about the Alex situation although you could be right. I watched the Alex clip over and over again and it didn't seem his stroke was all that poor. I noticed Alex was extra careful about chalking the rest of the match leading me to believe the tip didn't have good coverage of chalk. Give the Longoni a try, I really enjoyed using it!
Sometimes even the pros exceed the miscue limit resulting in what happened to Alex. No type of high-end chalk will save you there. The argument that if he used a high end chalk it wouldn't have happened I don't agree with at all.
@@VNOyovino Alex wasn’t going for some crazy power spin or draw shot. He wasn’t exceeding the miscue limit if you watch the shot in slow mo. A routine draw shot of the caliber (especially from Alex) shouldn’t result in a miscue. All my opinion though.
Would love to see a test of how much deflection the cue ball has with draw shots with each chaulk. Its not something i ever thought about until the owner of my local shop was talking about how kageki chaulk is super consistent with drawing cue ball straight back without deflecting to one side or the other
Great job and nice video, thank you! I have 2 OB chalks I am using up. Then will use up the Mezz Smart chalk before I decide what to get. This video really helped. I want to use the V10, but my local pool hall only allows blue chalk. Between the Pyro and Smart, which one would you choose? Also, is that new cue? If so, what is it?
I would recommend the Pyro as it’s very clean and really sticks to the tip. Only downside of the Pyro is that it’s a little more difficult to apply to the tip. But once applied you only have to touch up the tip with Pyro. You got a good eye with the cue. It’s a wrap less roger petit cue with the hsunami shaft.
Balabushka is the best chalk for a Kamui soft black tip. Been using it for years. It goes on smooth and thick and velvety. It's less rough and less sandy / less abrasive feeling than Predator 1080 or Blue Diamond, and it only costs $5 for a cube. Russian Magic Chalk is a close second place, a slightly rougher feeling when applying it, but it's still a smooth and velvety feeling, my 2nd pick, same price, $5 a cube. Both are slightly messy chalks, but a lot of chalk gets on the tip.
i started using the Taom V10 since last fall. Havent even gone through the first layer yet and i play weekly. Best chalk i ever owned hands down. super clean and sticks to the tip nicely
So I had every kamui chalk ever made and I can tell you right now none of them out perform the taom it stays on the ball which causes all kinds of problems I would never recommend any kamui chalk to anyone the Roku is not clean that's a lie I have had all of them
After using master for decades on our home table someone brought predator chalk and after using it the master was shelved and now we only use predator.
I’m late with watching this but I can already tell you you will make a short video in regards to this because predator is coming out with a new chalk called the s series
Great video. I never knew there was so many different chalks! I’m an old A player from the early ‘90s & always used Master & Triangle was actually just getting ready to orders some more Master but change the color to green to match my felt.
@The Billiard Corner You tried very hard to build a foundation for the idea that your test should be taken, but I didn't succeed. Because; 1. however you will not be able to repeatedly hit comparable power. 2. The fact that most of them had an average of six when there was an incorrect shot, I would argue that it says more about that. When you cue the white with your bare hands, grease and moisture are transferred from your hands, cueball...
Hey BC, great video. I was wondering if you could compare russian magic chalk to mezz exceed? I'm thinking about upgrading to a similiar chalk that has perforations in the paper
Russian magic chalk is more gritty, Exceed goes on more smooth. Really depends what you like and looking for. Check out the results section in the video and compare each chalk brand.
I have the predator 1080 and love it. But I hear the Kamui chalk doesn't stick to the cue ball. Is this true? I got predator because the Kamui sold out so fast. Within hours haha
Taom V10 performs better for cleanliness if you're looking for a chalk that doesn't stick to the cue ball. The Kamui Roku performs great as well but not as clean as the Taom products.
I loved the V10,, and I almost immediately switched to it from Triangle. I ended up realizing that I was getting less spin with the V10, and way more miscues. I switched to the Pyro and have been very happy ever since. Did any of your testing involve the amount of spin or miscues?
Yes I tested both, only miscues shown in the video. I didn't have that issue with the V10. Make sure to clean off all the chalk and scuff the tip before applying the V10.
Great video. Would have hoped for a better result for my Sniper but it is what it is lol. The Sniper Glygen was missing for me would be cool if you could test that one too :)
I’ve been using the v10 going on 2 years same piece while shooting 3 times a week. Before that I used exceed chalk. I will stick with the v10 just for how long it last on the tip and in my bag
i am using predator 1080 and i hate how dirty it is and taom v10 is best by this test and overall but for that price i just want to hear from someone that uses taom how long does it last if i play every day.
I'm new here and learning a lot from your videos. Are there any videos that you talk about various tip hardness or softness? I have two sticks. One is 21 oz. and the other is 18 oz. I like to play with light sticks. The 21 oz. stick will be my breaking stick. Should I use a super hard tip just for breaking? I hear hard tips are more likely to create mis-cues. Any thickness you can recommend for breaking? As for my lighter stick for pool play, will softness make a big difference in my performance? How much is too soft or just right? Or is it just personal preference? Thank you in advance and keep up the good work.
Get a haircut hippie! jk Started using Master because that's in every bar and pool hall, even bought a couple boxes for the bars I frequently play at. Tried Predator and liked the coverage so I switched. Yes, it's a little messy at times but I wasn't going through it as "quickly" as Master. And the only times I'd pull out a new piece was if someone cored the shit out of it. That was until my first piece of Taom. Since using the Taom Pyro, it's probably the last chalk I'll ever need. I'm literally still on my first piece after ~1.5yrs. Granted because it costs so much more, nobody uses my chalk unless I know how they chalk their tip. And my remaining pieces will go into a safe deposit box and be left in my will to my family.
You should add G2 to your next line up for testing, I’ve been using G2 chalk for the last 3 years and still have over half the cube left and paid $20 a cube, well worth the extra money for the quality and the cleanliness of cue ball and table!!! In my opinion G2 makes the BEST chalk period!!
I've tried out a lot of different chalks. Kamikaze chalk is pretty good and the Kamikaze cue tips are pretty good as well. I've done those extreme english shots and master chalk doesn't last more than 2 or maybe 3 shots. Were you drinking or vaping when you did this review?
@TheBilliardCorner haha??? Please explain what you are missing? You think it's normal for balls to hop off rails? You just start playing few days ago??
just get the taom v10 and thank yourself later, might be on the pricier side but put it this way, over the past year ive played 15-25 hours a week every week, and ive only just recently had to buy a new block of chalk (chalking after every shot), before when i was using triangle id have to buy a new piece every week, the taom v10 has probaly saved me money in the long run.
I go back and Forth with Kamui and Toam. I almost never miscued with .98 and a Kamui original Super Soft in 7 years. As soon as I started using toam the mess is gone but I miscue a tad more often than ever before. Doesn't hold well for long. I constantly chalk with it on every shot.
@TheBilliardCorner That's what I'm currently using. There's no Mess and the ball does seem to clinge a tad more but miscues on outside English two tips or more are more common. Kaumi .98 imo is the best on phenolic tips and for almost no miscues with a soft tip. I play probably 20 hrs a week with a 600 Fargo. I know Enough.
@@bassinbilliards6279 Kamui is good stuff, just not as clean like you said. Some chalks work better on different tips. I'm using a thoroughbred tip and haven't had a miscue with the Taom. In my test, the Kamui performed super good as well. I've always used many of Kamui products cause it's good quality and consistent.
@TheBilliardCorner I will say this I played with A Super Soft original for about 6 years straight before going back to a Soft the last 4 months or so. That is also part of it. However I think both chalks are great.
@@samjones7015 Very easy to remove, doesn't really leave much glue residue (very very little). However, it black ball marker covers the cloth and will leave a small ring around it due to chalk. I just take a soft brush to the cloth and it goes away.
Terrific review! Well presented. Solid information. If anything, I'd have included a chart based on price from low-to-high, and then maybe a cumulative score with it. Thanks for sharing!
I’ve got a Taom V10 and I’ve NEVER misscued so often 😅😂 I’m literally only using it because it keeps things nice and clean 😜 If things keep up I might be switch back to Masters though 🤷♂️ (I chalk every shot)
Hmm your comments at the end got me thinking, when I chalk between shots I don’t look at it, maybe I’m happening to hit a spot I’m not chalking. With Masters it’s so messy I probably got better coverage without looking. When I do miscue I do look at my tip and chalk it thoroughly and then I won’t miscue again for a few racks, but I don’t really look at the tip again until I do. I should make sure I actually look at least once a rack then, to make sure I have full coverage at least for the next 8-ish shots etc.
@@EhBitTV Make sure to clean off all the old chalk and scuff the tip before applying the V10 otherwise it will affect the performance. You're right, touch up the tip with V10 between racks and you shouldn't miscue.
I don't know how many games I have lost due to a miscue when I was using master. I haven't miscued once since I started using taom. I'll never use master again. In practice, I shot whole games without rechalking, and had no miscue. I don't try that during a match, but I can go several shots before I chalk, unless I have a shot that requires a lot of English.
