The dishes on the $1.41 buffet were actually all side dishes that Thai people normally eat with steamed rice. So if you eat them without rice, I can tell you that they're probably all a little too salty. So the taste of all the dishes there usually goes well with steamed rice. Unlike the $83 buffet, where most of the dishes are prepared without rice, the taste is much more pleasant than the $1.41 buffet. For Thai people, the $1.41 buffet is something for everyday consumption, while the $83 buffet is for special occasions.

You can tell the difference with Sonny between Egypt and Thailand. He is not scared, he is confident here. I feel like Sonny is setting up a roadmap for a few of us to travel. Sonny, is there a document we can download/buy showcasing the places you been over the past few years?
He said, in Egypt even the locals once used to circle him and ask him for money. He also did get harassed constantly for money by the police and locals.
Watching these food & travel vlogs with Sonny inspires me to start eating healthier again and actually get creative with the food I consume. I've been so lazy, I only shove the worst kinds of food in my mouth, I haven't even cooked in my kitchen for at least two months. Last summer I discovered middle eastern food for myself and cooked so much new stuff. Now I just feel depressed and no motivation, but actually cooking and eating clean would surely raise my mood and make me feel phisically better too..
@@elessartelcontar9415 Sorry to hear that, RU-vid-mate. I hope your coming times will continue to be full of joyful things. I feel many would cook more deeply and grow for themselves. Something just feels “right” about it.
I've been going on food adventures with Sonny on the daily since I haven't been able to eat in a year!!! Everyone asks me...why do you torture yourself by watching him? It's not torture!!! I cook for my family, watch them enjoy the food...then...I hook up my food bag and feast with Sonny...it makes it so much easier to live without food!!! Maybe I'm crazy...lol Much love to you all and thank you Sonny for bringing joy to a broken woman's soul!!! Happy new year everyone!!!
Patterrz I know how you feel paying 🤑🤑83.00 but don't worry, I will invite you to the Marriott Xx after that we go the the movies.....and play with the night 😍😍
@@ryankieth1675 IIRC its on a side street, upon a major roadway. You can walk there, but its like half a mile from the nearest public trans. It really is meant for taxi, delivery, and other types of riders. You can drive up and park, but the local workers will be annoyed, as it takes up a spot . They just won't tell you. Most of these guys are just daily workers who come, and ppl who work very close. If you did want to walk that half mile, feel free to try. Just hope your use to very high humidity, beating sunlight, and tropical temperatures. It ain't easy to walk that if your not use to it.
@@yummychips_ Well, if you own a car, you'll likely be able to mount a bicycle to it, or bring a scooter, skateboard or whatever you prefer to help you get there through the hot sun even faster with a bit of a breeze on your face. I'm sure they wouldn't mind you parking a scooter up on the grass instead of a car on the street in comparison. It sure beats walking! Just park at a suitable location as close as you can possibly find and then use your precious tool to do the rest.
@@justascaredpussycat1869 Malaysia is multicultural and diverse. Different ethnicity, different cuisines. We’re rated among the best when comes to foods and cuisine. We also street foods, night markets , stalls and so many more. After all , we’re Thailand neighbours. I think you’ll enjoy it.

@@tweelee7346 he said "the woman filming me" and in another video im pretty sure he said his wife was filming- i think his wife films a lot but doesnt want any attention or to be in the spotlight
I live in Bangkok myself but never got to try that cheap buffet yet since there are already plenty of good food nearby and it would've cost a lot just to travel to the heart of Bangkok and try that buffet. Great video btw!
@@mitzilynrealuyo8701 May I know where is this 50 baht buffet? There is no mention of the exact location in the video. So many items just for 50 baht. Looks good
Sonny you're one of a few honest food reviewers in RU-vid. Some people they just got paid to say how delicious the food are, which is very misleading for the most part.
I'm afraid I could never really do a buffet justice, if I had all day, I could eat all day, but if I gorge myself I'd just get sick. Although 2 & a half hours at the Marriott, I could put a pretty fair dent into their protein, some of those seafoods & meats looked just devine, if I ever go overseas again I'm re watching these videos & taking notes, thank you Sonny & team.
Went to the Marriott buffet a few times. Love it! 😁 Secret tip 🤫: go to the buffet on Friday night. No 2-hour time limit. You can enjoy your buffet from 5:30pm to whenever it close. 😅
Another outstanding video, and defiantly more buffet videos please. ...And crunchy fried baby crab, and bone marrow videos please. thanks for the brilliant travel content, truly fantastic viewing!
Welcome back to Thailand Sonny!😍 happy to see you be back there! Hope you enjoy a lot. I'm hungry watching your vlog now!😋 i really miss street food in Bangkok, everywhere in Thailand
I'm now suspecting you have teleport power by how many country you have traveled to in such a short amount of time, but that being said, I'm happy for the new and quality content you and your team producing
Hi Sonny, I would love to see more buffets from other countries. This video was so interesting and satisfying to watch. Keep up the good work and congratulations on your marriage.
It reminds of the cheapest restaurant in Bali, Indonesia! It was a hidden gem for people from America. The food was cheap and delicious. I was eating there for lunch and dinner since the hotel serves breakfast.
I ate at this Marriot on one of my last trips to Bangkok. My first time not eating on the street. There was some type of Buddhist holiday for street vendors so no street stalls in my area. After walking around searching for a food stall I gave up and went to this Marriot for a Buffet breakfast. It was delicious, but I succumbed to the effects of food poisoning before I could leave the hotel lol Thankfully my hotel was only 6-7 blocks away. Ended up bedridden for 1 day and was still sick for 3-4 more days by the time I made it to Hokkaido where I spent two of those 3-4 days in my hotel room. Thankfully it subsided enough to allow me to go on my amazing tour of hot springs and food across the island. So ironic that the first time I got sick in Thailand was from eating in a restaurant rather than on a street stall.
YES more buffet comparisons from around the world please! This one was droolariffic. Loved the confirmation of correctness from the camera lady on the oysters. It's a shame you didn't try the rest of the cheap buffet foods. But now I must travel there and try them... haha. Good stuff, .... Food Lord... and aah peace ✌
This is definitely my favorite food channel Him and uncle rodger are goats i love the fact they didn’t always have tons of money cuz expensive food doesnt always taste better
I cannot do buffets. I get confused and feel sick and deflated from mixing foods. However watching you eat a buffet was the absolute best! Both looked amazing value for money. Marriot looked amazing. And I felt like I really enjoyed both buffets considering I don’t eat at buffets! So thanks for letting me feast with my eyes 🤤♥️
The low priced one was basically home cooking done well. It looked great. If I could only eat at one, I think I'd take the low priced one. If I want to go somewhere and eat at a major hotel buffet, I'll go to Las Vegas.
The inteteresting part is they have 14 random menu at one time 8 of them are spicy stir fry or curry thing 1 is spicy soup( the pork ribs one is the best ) 1 fried thing 4 non spicy thing and it change a bit when some menu out they cook other menu with the same catagory for you and it usually new menu
10:52 This is the funniest moment in this video. Same thoughts tho like why would you get a burger when ure surrounded with seafood and grilled dishes. 😭
I lived in BKK for a few years. I loved all the food! I use to do the different buffets with my wife on her day off. Amari was one of my favorites. The first one looked like Chaduchuk Market or close to Mo Chit? I can't wait to go back to see my son. Hopefully you have been to Noodle Boat alley by Victory monument. That place is where people consume vast amounts of noodle. Meh Luong Hang, aroi mak mak.
$1.41 Vs $83? It's not as much about the price, but rather it's how the food you eat affects your body in terms of nutritional value; such as more on nutrient-rich vegetables, fruits, grains, etc and less on sugar, sodium, saturated fat, cholesterol, etc.
I agree with you that it's not as much about the price, but rather it's how the food you eat affects your body in terms of nutritional value... "You are what you eat". Besides, I really like the $1.41 buffet which has plenty of nutrient rich vegetables and fish. Just easy on sauces. Here in the USA, a buffet like this, even street food, would be around $10. As for myself, I ate a $6 mix-veggie salad today and am feeling good about it!
They both looked great I wish I could eat oysters, especially raw but you almost made me feel like I could eat one, almost. (Tried one once and eurrkk, wish I had the taste buds for them) Great video, both were amazing in their own cost/costless way. More buffets!
I prefer it with with asian pepper sauce, "Jeow" Thai chili peppers, garlic cloves, some salt, sugar, limes, msg, cilantro. Goes with all meats. That shit is bomb!
Everyone would enjoy the Marriott, it looks awesome with a mix of Eastern and Western cuisine. Just the variety would last me a few days to get through. I really do appreciate everyday street food though, and that $1.41 buffet would be something I can imagine going to frequently, especially if I can eat for 2 whole months for the same price.
2hrs is a good time. Here in Melbourne most buffets have 1.5hr sittings so you feel you have to rush if you want to try everything. The street one was awesome. Super cheap which means you could go back a couple times a week! Great vid Sonny
In indonesia it is like "Warteg". They provide many kind of dishes such us meat, vegetable, soup, and so on with the cheap prices of every single dishes. Indonesian loves it
83$ is definitely not the most expensive buffet.. There are several which are more expensive. Such as the Sunday brunch at Alatia - Siam Kempinsky @ 105$ Most expensive buffet I know of is at Honmono Sushi about $200 for 2 hours. (There are several price options, depending on which branch)
You have to go to 'Somyoth' Restaurant in Chok Chai 4, the best soft shell crab curry in Bangkok and many other great Thai dishes in a very local setting. Very inexpensive for what you're getting, must try! We can guide you through the menu, we go there often
I really enjoy seeing all the south-east Asian videos. They remind me of home. I've been over 3000 miles away from family for the past three years and these videos help.
Sonny, whenever I see your these kind of buffet style dining review feel more hungry.. in fact, ❤ the show. Thanks to all the BEFR team. With lots of ❤ from Kolkata, India 🇮🇳
I love this Episode... The $1.41 was a good meal but the Marriott food was dazzling nice which is good when you want to give yourself a treat... I'd really want to visit South East Asia (Thailand or Vietnam) I don't mind if anyone's got info on company or organization that can sponsor adventurer like myself... Sir Sonny, you're the best anyday, anytime!!!!
Lol I would think any country that has access to the ocean can possibly find oysters! With modern farming I’m sure even landlocked countries can farm oysters!
I've watched just about every video you have ever made, and I think the $83 buffet is the place i'd eat at everyday for the rest of my life. Absolutely incredible!
I looooooooooooove your work,Sonny - & of your team! Enjoying the fun of your buffet adventures as well!!! Keep them coming - along with your ‘food doco’ adventures. Always a pleasure to vicariously enjoy your food adventures! Thank you!🎖🎖🎖💞💞💞😎😎😎
I'm delighted that you mentioned the Irish oysters from Dungarvan. Haven't had them myself but will give them a blast if I'm ever down that neck of the woods. Love the content you guys put up. Keep it up lads ;-)
@Trevor Smith If that's iberico ham, the pig should come from the Iberian peninsula and from a very specific breed, so the legs should be pretty much the same length. If not, it's fake, as simple as that.
i dont think people would mind if Sonny explored food with his wife. Make a new show of it or somthing. Feel like shes missing out on all these wonderful adventures you have.
I TOTALLY expected you to say the cheaper buffet was your top choice because it was the safe option. Great subversion picking the Marriot. Times like this reminds me why I keep coming back to you. You always keep it 💯 Sonny.
I have lived in Thailand for over 25 years and my Thai wife wouldn't even go in the Marriot. She would plumb for the street food and I must say so would I. To get that selection for 50bht is a steal. Because I have lived here so long I eat like Thai's, little and often. The food looked great at the Marriot but I couldn't eat more than a Noodle soup and 1 other dish. So pointless even going for us. Great Vlog though.
It's the one (that's worth it) that is located on your walk, between the cheapest and the most expensive places. There are so many great places to eat in Bangkok that you could try each place and wouldn't return to the first place for months. I LOVE BANGKOK! U.S. Dollar to Bhat is CRAZY.
These dishes are so similar to Vietnamese dishes for lunch, you might spend $1.1 for these, but there is no such a buffet like this :D. Thumbs up for Thai food, so eager to visit Bangkok and Chiang Mai one day. The food looks yummy!
