The golden rule is, "When everything is the same size, gold rules." I use the Golden Rule classification system with 16 screens from 4 mesh all the way down to 400 mesh. Every batch is so easy to get all the gold out, gold will absolutely be the heaviest in ever batch size.

4:04, tee hee, I had a feeling your dream mat was too small for this clean up. The floating gold, I have seen that as a child while camping off-grid with my parents. My dad said it was mica! Even then I thought it was gold. I wish my dad was still around so I could tell him I was right. Can you believe he told me, "there's nothing precious in Canada", when I was a kid? He told me that when he threw away the two diamonds I found when I was 8 or 9 years old. We were camping off-grid and I found them while sifting river sand while my parents fished. He said they were broken glass. I never forgot what they looked like, and decades later I found pictures on-line of raw diamonds that looked EXACTLY like the two I had found.

I had a similar experience as a child. Folks are so accustomed to mediocrity, they can't even admit that something rare and beautiful is possible. They're out there. You can find more. Don't get jaded. (no pun intended 😄)

@@MadDogTor_ At the time, late 1960s, there weren't any diamond mines in Canada, so the fact I found two "could be" the first ever found. Now there are diamond mines in the Northwest Territories, Canada. I have since used Google Earth to observe the area I found the diamonds and the lake source looks very much like a flooded Kimberlite tube.

Fine Gold is the Reason I Recently Purchased a New Dream Mat Sluice. I went with a 6X42 Double Long Micro - Mini Dream Mat Setup. The Finest Gold Needs a Lot of Time to Settle Out and be Captured. So far the Sluice has been Working Absolutely Great. Now I just need to find Some Gold. XD

If it's to fine for a Miller table then I'd like to see you try a teaspoon of concentrate mixed with Borax and apply a flame just to see if you could get a minute button rather than resort to HG or Aqua Regina. Just thinking out aloud.....

How about take a funnel and put a cap on the bottom then throw the concentrates in and shake/vibrate it to stratify it by density then just release the gold out of the bottom. A small valve (slide would be best, ball valve might not close easily) between the cap on the bottom and somewhere part way up would reduce the amount of sand/etc that fall out the bottom with the gold when opened. Bonus points for using a glass funnel so you could watch the statification process.

OMG what an opportunity. I'd happily pay for about a quarter pound (113.5 grams) of cons that they've recovered the gold from. Then put it back the gold and on every "jar" you get on the label how much there "is" and leave to you to see if you can get it all. I hope that makes sense. Would be the ultimate recovery panning experience. I hope you got to the mid-20's after you re-ran the cons. It's crazy how fine that stuff is. If they are getting almost double what you can, they have really perfected capturing fine gold.

Such an awesome experience Chris, small gold is such a bastard though! I dabble with a little heavy sand from West Coast NZ and have ended up building a "Gold Webb" that flows into a blue bowl that flows into a carpet sluice. It works ok, mostly it was fun building it all up.

We recently had a similar case of big eyes. It seems a large pile of flour gold weighs considerably less than a similar size pile of slightly coarser gold. By almost 50%. That fine flour just does not add up like coarser gold does. Weird. But science.

Hi Chris, that gold is super tiny, as is the black and white sands, fascinating to think of the eroded mountain ranges once way over there, leaving occasional massive boulders scattered around the rolling countryside, but have you noticed which are the waterways these bigger boulders scatter along? We're guessing certain ones were fed by such glaciers, I ought read up on where they were, how extensive, and which ones (now remaining waterways) crossed them motherlode hillsides, scraping the gold ore or past alluvium, along with the ice and house-sized boulders. I'm sure the miners knew it'd pose a great challenge as paydirt, what a bucket of concentrates! You'd estimate it as fiddy red hammer buckets concentrated into one regular-size laundry powder bucket? If so, I'd guess you'd go over an ounce for the 100, we're showing our card in assuming it hasn't had it's conclusion! Onya, and heavy rubber clean-up sluice mats to you, of your own concentates! Cheers from Gabi of Narre Warren.

What a problem to have to much gold for the sluice. Maybe a blue bowl or a wheel could help reduce the cons futher before the sluice and the cons ran over the miller table although its alot of work when its prob better to smelt all the cons from the all at once for a full recovery or even the dreaded mercury (but done correctly)
@shawnanderson3304
