These kind of buys makes the trip so much more fun also, can't beat a great bargain ! Some times I find something so cheap, I figure it will fall apart very soon . I end up liking it so well, I wish later I had bought two or more ;-( of coarse once in a while I wish I hadn't bought something at all. But hey, usually it is cheaper than a movie ticket and I don't do that, so caulk it up to entertainment . Kudos on your bargain and a awl is awlwes handy :-) Just a old man's ramblings
Your right about that, should always have thrift in mind. I just got a beat up Victorinox Swiss Champ for 5 bucks. Warranty covered all the damage, should be getting a rebuilt, like new knife next week
To be honest if I had come across those I would have bought all the guy had. Then my Christmas shopping would be done for this year. No one I gave one to, with the edge I would put in it, would believe I spent so little. Good video.
I/m not real fond of Victorinox rip-offs, but they're everywhere. Most of them are the absolute cheapest junk money can buy, but the Imperial with high carbon steel is a pretty good knife. It's a find, nd you got a steal. These knives are already moving up in the collectible area, but they're a lot more fin to use than to put away and keep. Will they last a lifetime? Well, I know they'll take twenty years of use, as long as you don't get silly and abuse them.
Funny thing is some of the best knife bargains I ever found were at gun shows. Most people are there for the guns and ammo and ignore sharps. Good thing I don't have a knife addiction....
Iawoodsman: Do you know any way to get wilderness gear inventions developed & produced? I have a few, but don't know how to get things going (InventHelp is out there, but I hear it costs more than I've got).
My imperial has wood handles on or not the plastic I have been caring it and use it almost daily and it is held up for almost 5 years definitely not the best steel but it is adequate for what I consider a trash knife I cut things with that knife and do things with that knife that I won't my primary knife and I think I paid five dollars
My feeling is that is you use your backup knife a lot more than your primary knife, then your backup knife should be your primary. It took me along time to learn this. I used to buy very expensive knives that I was afraid to use. This is wrong. A knife you don't use is worthless, and an insult to the knife maker. It was a custom knife maker who taught me this. So now, regardless of the job to be done, I do it with my primary knife, and I have no doubt at all that the man who made this knife is proud or ever nick, scratch, and character mark this knife has earned. And from my standpoint, it wouldn't surprise me if the Imperial has what I would consider better steel than your primary knife. For a woodsman, there is no steel better than 1095.
That's why I carry Fieldmaster Swiss Army Knife. Forget modern. Most modern knives are all cool and no tool. ut Swiss Army knives now come in many styles, including a couple with flip blades much like a Spyderco.
