This video brought me much joy, smiles and laughter. TRIGGERED! because you said “dummy funnel” is hilarious. Your research confirms what we’ve always been told. But now it’s crystal clear. Thank you, thanks to your staff. I have enjoyed your work for many years, stay safe.
I knew when you talked about the 4th funnel, that it was not used for smoke, and I have always heard it was called a Dummy Funnel. The enraged arm chair commentators need to get a life!
Years ago, I worked on a classic yacht called Talitha G, she had 2 funnels, one of which had been converted to a lift shaft, when she was fitted with new engines. Thank you for your great channel
cannot believe people would have an issue with you calling a dummy funnel a dummy funnel. some people easily confused with the meaning of words in English
Love the channel, love your work. And now you have the Correcting Corrections segment; brilliant! People are people, they have to tell you that you are wrong! It's a dummy funnel you dummies. A dummy, or faux, or FALSE funnel. OMG. He didn't say "that's not a funnel". Mr. Sysman, keep doing you!!
RU-vid has opened my eyes as to how many unhappy people are out tin the world. "Haters gonna' hate" it's just what unhappy people do. Keep up the good work, I love watching your videos every week!
Shemara's new dummy funnell containing the satellite equipment is a superb idea. Just guessing it is GRP construction to allow the signals to pass through.
I think Shemara is the nicest looking yacht you’ve featured , The new multimillion pound monsters look somewhat ungainly in my humble opinion . Maybe I’m just old 😊
All these mega yachts seem like a tremendous waste of fun. If I had their money I would want a boat I can sail myself. How horrible to just be a stranger to your own boat. The boat in reality is the crews. They know it, they live on it, they enjoy it. I'd rather be the captain of someone else's.ega yacht than the owner of that mega yacht.
@@MindBodySoulOkthen you represent a small % of the population. Most wealthy people would like to be the owner lol PS: If your the owner your can go anywhere you want and can't be fired..... unlike the staff or captain hahaha
The Titanic funnel could no0t be used to bring air into the ship, the 3 funnels are before the fake one. It would obviously pull the smoke into the ship lower decks.
I was thinking the same it would pull in smoke. If it was used for ventilation it would be most likely be for exhaust air and supply air would have to come from the scoops.
Someone definitely threw their dummy funnel out of the shipyard 🙂 I recall in the past accepting that it was considered unlucky to only have three funnels, but I also wisely checked before commenting, learning that was just another urban myth that I'd fallen for.
So the wording for the funnels calling them funnels is wrong. On a yacht the mast serves several reasons as well. There are pipes for several air ventilation types, being non smoking and still serving as a funnel for kitchen ventilation, bathroom ventilation, emergency generator exhaust being in use only once in a while.
English appears to be many commenters second language. 'Dummy' is not a rude word. It can mean 'a substitute designed to look like the real thing'. Hence, the dummy funnel on Titanic was used for aesthetic and grandeur purposes.
I am following your channel, since war in Ukraine, and you make this channel absolutely best for yachts news on 🌎. Regarding dummy funnel, most of regular followers of your channel will know that you don’t need to explain (and usie time of video you publish) that people about dummy funnel. They never sail on cruise vessel, even as passengers. So just in future disregard such comments. 🤷♂️ Keep up a great work 🥂
You run one of the most accurate, humble and fun while interesting and thorough channels I know, so I loved the correction corrections segment in this one :D
Why are they sueing the US government for injury when the ship fell over in dry dock in the UK. The US government didn't cause it to fall over, the dry dock operator did. Guess the lawyers think bigger payday sueing US government for a big payout. Hope their greed gets them nothing.
I find it bizarre that people get so worked up or even angry over such trivial, pointless tidbits on RU-vid videos. Whether or not the 4th funnel was functional or not who cares it doesn't after anyone today or shame someone's reputation. To get upset over it serves no purpose and makes me wonder what else triggers these people. I really enjoy this channel's unique information on exotic vessels and locations. I laugh at the comments of people who feel the need to pick at details as if they are solving great mysteries lol.
For those wondering, you can sue the US Government (that would normally have sovereign immunity) under the US Federal Tort Claims Act when injured on government property due to unsafe conditions. Caballero will have to prove the unsafe conditions were created deliberately or through negligence and that will be a tall hurdle absent the findings of the investigation report.
Hey, could you update us on Lürssen Eye (ex ace). She just have been refitted (and ruined imo) but maybe you have some more information on what happend below decks with the GA etc
If we're not getting an explanation on the petrol incident a full year later, will we ever? Perhaps if some TV executive commissioned a Netflix documentary to investigate then perhaps we will get some answers.
Shemara one stage spent quite a time in Jersey when Lord and Lady Docker resided there. The Dockers had quite a reputation of being somewhat over the top. Many stories to be told, often based in the yacht club - now I am showing my age.
In 1969 we were moored at Manoel Island in Malta when Shemara visited for a brief stay. We were woken by her drunken noisy crew going back to her that night and in the morning found our scooter was in the harbour and Shemara had gone.
Very interesting about the dummy funnel. I installed marine electronics on mega yachts. And a lot of the satellite domes are dummies as well to balance the look.
maybe Bezos wants to change out those eyesore radar domes for the smaller newer ones you mentioned in an earlier episode, not like he can't afford it lol.....
Almost certainly because they had a contract with USN, rather than Leith Docks or the Agents handling the ship. The USN would then have a further contract with them.
@@natekons You're confusing moral and legal answerability. They amount to the same thing, in total, but the paths are different. It's all to do with the Law of Contract.
The RV Petrel was owned by a private individual when the accident happened but as soon as the person suing seen that the US government now owns it they seen dollar signs before their eye, I see this suit being thrown out because the US nothing to do with the ship until after the accident, they will have to refile the suit against the previous owner,
Similar case where my tiny tiny 51 sailing ketch was moved on land by one company and then the company was taken over by another. After my vessel fell over due to poor securing measures, I had to sue the previous company instead of the new company. That's the law here in canada. Just saw this and saw the correlation. Tks
I knew the Shem ara quite well .I WAS BORN IN SOUTHAMPTON IN .38 She sailed from there often. It belonged to Lord Dover he owned BSA motor cycles. He owed to stay at the Starbucks hotel not far from the docks, they used to come in a car with gold plating on it!!!!! I remember one time his wie"s jewellery was "stolen" from the boot (and the band played believe it if you can.
Have a look at the painting of the Lusitania (Titanic sister ship?).. rear funnel has smoke, front not... (apologies if this causes more grief for you😂😂😂😂)... Really enjoyable channel... when I sell my bitcoin I will buy one (so it will be RC but who is picky...)
I can see why someone injured on the Petrel would wait until it was brought to the U.S. American courts like to hand out large amounts of $$ to the injured. Common sense would say that the owner of the drydock was responsible but common sense is in short supply in US civil courts.
Definition of a ships funnel... "A funnel is the smokestack or chimney on a ship used to expel boiler steam and smoke or engine exhaust. They are also commonly referred to as stacks." It has been well known for decades that the Titanic's 4th "funnel" was included in the design to give the illusion of grandeur. It was in no way necessary to the function of steam engine related exhaust ergo is in fact a "dummy funnel". Next up? How many angels can dance on the head of a pin? (a real pin)
Agreed. Get lives, you trolls. And also, Mr. eSysman, you needn’t waste the time of 95% of your viewers, with a long explanation to the 5% of trolls. Thanks for the good info. And let’s all forget the ”Dummy Viewers.”
It's so funny how people get triggered by simple words like "dummy funnel". I've never thought that people could be so right-handed about something so unimportant. 😂
LOL what a deal......Some people say things that they have no idea of what is really going on,l call people like that DUMMY'S RIGHT...... Thanks my friend..... Old F-4 Shoe🇺🇸
