it is called sharing your blessings tradition of the Filipinos that takes roots on the word bayanihan meaning helping each other out without expecting anything in return
I'm proud of Lisa as a Filipino she is very generous and shared her winning to her costumer, that act of kindness will bring her on top of success more blessings will come to Lisa
As a Filipino, I hate it when local vendors take advantage of the pricing specially when they know the person is totally unaware about the pricing in our local market. The price of that "TAHO" is ridiculous. You could have gotten 2 and a half cups for that price. I still believe in honest work.
That's so awesome! This is why I love Street food in general. You interact with the people who owns the business and you can see the passion from them. They're the to support their family in a very honest and pure way and not all about the money. You can see that when the lady got the 5,000 PHP she even paid for the people who were actually her customers. Sharing right away the money that she got! That's real love right there!
Thanks much for your being nice and generous to our fellow Filipinos. She was so happy and grateful for having the money in the box that she offered her waiting customers free food. Kudos for your gentle and kind heart. You are a good friend.
Nope. I believe if you actually go around, ganun na yung presyuhan niya due to inflation hehe especially in my area! I’m from Manila lol mostly nang nagtitinda, ganun na kamahal.
I luv ate Weng even shes not rich she is wealthy with kindness especially when she shared the 5K blessing you gave her Maxxxx with her costumers or buyers...thats the Filipino spirit of love and kindness in sharing even though we have less or nothing in life at all...🙏🙏🙏😔😔😔❤️❤️❤️🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭👍👌👏👏👏
Max, this is such a well-made, FUN video! Your reactions, personality, and your genuineness when you interact with locals are perfect for this kind of video. More of this! 🥂
As he should. This guy straight up said the siomai in cebu is better than the one he was eating in front of them. A bit disrespectful to me. Lots of Filipinos in the Philippines can understand English, fyi. I’ll pass on this RU-vidr. His humor isn’t my thing, a bit too much.
For context: Those girls were yelling at 15:50 because of a similar Game Show during the 1990-2000s Called "Pera o Bayong" (Cash or Mystery Bag) and the girls in bikinis usually yell as scream when the host increase the offer.
as a Filipino, seeing foreigners try or eat Filipino food warms my heart, as they appreciate some of it, some might not be but good job trying to eat the food;>
This was so fun to watch! Best bit: you've been calling the siomai lady Lisa the whole time and her name was Weng all along. "I'm Weng 🙂". That cracked me up! 😂 New subscriber here. Looking forward to more Filipino food content. 😊
Taho samin noon lima maliit na cup sampu malaki, ngayon sampu maliit bente malaki, pero singkwenta? Ulol HAHAHAHAH Back then for a small cup of taho it costed 5 peso and for the large one 10 peso, now its cost 10 for the small 20 for the large, but 50 for that cup? Hell no.
My new favourite food vlogger, bro got a sense of humour which is so much different to majority of other vloggers, who are quite serious whereas max is more humorous, kudos mate, got yourself a new subscriber
I really love your vlog , it kinda witty and have fun to watch , as a filipino, you really nailed the heart of each and every one of us, keep vlogging sir
I like your witty Scoring and edits :) Glad you enjoy this foodtrip and we apologize for that ripoff taho guy (shame) Kudos to ate lisa, you deserve your following.
I used to walk around Quiapo (the side streets you went to) and all the way to CM Recto, then the length of Sta Cruz and Carriedo back to Quiapo. This was late 90s to early 00s. I loved seeing all the stuff for sale, like bootleg jeans and cheap 2nd-hand books. Then I'd finish off with a massive food trip. There were a lot of choices, from food stalls to amazing small restaurants! I would even walk all the way to Binondo and eat at the best Chinese authentic restos. I miss it! 😫😫😫 Someday, I'll come home and roam those streets again. Lol. Enjoy your stay in Manila.
Simply Max is the alter ego of Max McFarlin. You are cooler in your filipino videos than your Vietnam series. I always ask myself is this the same MAX? commending your videographer on this one. you freely vlog on this one. but of course seeing your face so close with the screen in vietnam series is a bonus for me. haha! You actually captured a lot and summarizes the Manila streetfood and gave a high review. that’s impressive!
Wow! Taho for 50 bucks? Too steep! But Lisa deserves the prize. She is a charitable soul and her business will definitely prosper! God Bless her! By the way, next time, you need to try the sago gulaman, pansit and pares!
Nilupak is made of cassava, a type of root crop. And the purple part is made of ube, a purple yam. Nilupak literally means "mashed", it is usually mashed in a big mortar and pestle and shaped into a disc, I believe they put condensed milk, and bucayo (coconut cooked in caramelized brown sugar) aside from the margarine. 😊
Aww, this was awesome, man (and hilarious lol). Great to see you do different styles of videos on each of your channels. This was so fun, well-edited, and just a nice, feel-good video that still highlights what you do best: talking about the food and interacting with the locals. Great stuff, brother!
100 dollars is like 5000 pesos You can buy a pretty decent smart phone in Philippines with that On street foods that's pretty much a kings budget I think even our president don't carry around that much for street food
Watched 14 minutes of the video only to realize it's a different channel!😂 awesome! Im from MONTREAL but the video's from India are the best! Keep it up 👍🇮🇳 much love to you and Chris.🏅
As a certified Filipino, The amount of courage this guy gives/shows is unbelievable, i cant emagine reviewing foods while people stare at me weirdly, literally embarrassing for me❤️
I got curious because the title has "Food" and "Philippines" (which I both love obviously 🤷) but after 16+ mins. of his humor I'm definitely subscribing 🤣
Good content like the other channels. I'm new to your channels, a little confused why you have three, but ... Anyway, I like this video. $100 goes very far in terms of street food. PHP50 for taho ... wow ... growing up in the 70s we used to buy that for 25 Philippine cents. In the 80s it was like 1 or 2 pesos. I now miss my Philippine street food. And that mini-turon allusion was just hilarious. And just to clarify coconuts -- there are different terms for it. 'Niyog' is old coconut (brown), usually shaved or shredded and used as a topping for other desserts. 'Buko' is young coconut (green) and is usually eaten from the shell, or shaved and shredded to be mixed into drinks and other foods. So, you put niyog on a rice cake, but you drink buko juice after eating that. And Lisa was playing 'Kwarta o Kahon' with you -- a reference to an old Philippine prize show in which contestants choose either money or a mystery box to win prizes. People would yell 'kwarta' (money) or 'kahon' (box). Good show man!
I was shock on the price of TAHO so expensive. The rate of price of TAHO is about P10.00-15.00 for small to medium cups P20.00 for large cup. But P50.00 for that cup too expensive.
Well, we love you & love your content. But here is my honest review of this video. You tried something new, the editing & planning of this content is different. I appreciate the effort but basic food tasting & reviewing is the heart of the content which I personally feel, looks better in your raw daily vlogs style. We connect more in your regular style videos. I know you are trying to explore different things in your profession. The podcast is one thing which is very different, informative, funny & connecting audiance. I personally feel podcast is the best thing you tried apart from your regular content. Don't get discouraged by the response to podcast. It will grow in its own pace with different niche of audience.❤much respect ❤
I feel sorry for myself for the 'Taho' vendor purely taking advantage just because a foreigner bought a taho. It's so embarrassing. We all know that the taho Max bought is only 10 or 20 pesos. Taking advantage of the situation. Hindi mo ikayayaman yan kuya 😩😤 So sorry Max 😢
Awesome food content. I moght go to Quiapo tom for some food trip as well. That taho vendor charged higher than a normal one. Usually it only costa P20-30 in that cup size.
