The thing no one talks about is ease of play. Someone like Ichika can make anything sound great and it's good to aspire to that level. But for an intermediate or even a seasoned guitar player there is a difference in, not the sound but the music, because you are concentrating more in playing right and make that cheap guitar "work" instead of concentrating on the music. This is rehearsed, but I bet you if you get Ichika to improv for 10 mins in both guitars, he is going to make a lot more risky decisions and interesting choices with the expensive guitar because of the level of comfort it brings. You can't know that by watching a video.

@@TheNumbuh121 fair enough for the cleans but the dirties sounded horrible imo. The single coils could have been nicer. Would have been good to see them compared to some expensive single coils. And the humbuckers middle position cleans had some punch to them. Sounded kind of like a piano.

The tone of the guitar with the beautiful wood is sweeter than the strat. You can definitely tell the difference with the resonance cus of the wood type and the tone cus of the pick up selection.

The more expensive guitar has humbuckers, so yeah.

Honestly, I prefer the single coils.

Jon Lord ran his B3 output into guitar amps for his sound with Derp Purple instead of the typical Lesley speakers setup. I suppose it’s a matter of perspective, likes and intention....

The cheap guitar has single coils, and the expensive one has humbuckers... Of course the expensive one will sound deeper.

It’s not even about the price, that’s just how humbuckers are. They’re darker and fuller than single coils.

Im guessing hes playing a hand crafted guitar. An electric guitars sound comes 90% from the pickups so the better sound likily comes from that. What you don't experience from this video is how much smoother the expensive guitar is. The price difference is likily because a lot more labor went into making the expensive guitar.

@@miuletzmitzu6641 You definitely can get amazing guitars for way cheaper. Things that are handmade are simply more expensive though. Its uncommon to see handmade instruments under 2,000. If a luthier is particularly well known and reputable their guitars can definitely sell for 10,000. Thing is if enough people buy it for that price then thats what it will sell for.

A video with different amp sim settings is good? This does not show an accurate representation at all... It just makes poor people feel bad about themselves when they can't get this sound from a shit guitar. He's using a trash guitar through $1000s of processing software lmao. You can make any guitar sound good on a good amp or a good sim. Not to mention all the post-processing in these vids outside of the actual amps.

I don't think Ichika has any reason to put with guitars that aren't set up right. It's relatively inexpensive work to have done on a guitar.

@@martinkrauser4029 Well, a beginner might not understand or even know the importance of a good setup. Aren't these bought mostly by complete beginners? And the price of a setup depends on where you live, here it can easily come half of the price or more of such guitar, so then it might feel expensive if the whole thing cost $100 but the "damn guitar tech" is asking "unbelievable" $50-70 to set up the guitar. And that doesn't cover if there's something else wrong with the guitar.

There's no way that the quality of a guitar can equal 1 million dollars. It's pure markup at that level. And I'd challenge you to find a playable guitar with a msrp of $20. Price and quality aren't the same thing, and this test proved absolutely nothing. It was a flex video.

i guess it also depends what you expect him to be able to play on guitars at certain price points, sure he can make a $20 guitar sound sweet as long as it can remotely hold tune, so can i, but i doubt you'll see much tapping or anything happening on a guitar that has action 2cm high, we could both do some cool finger picking chord stuff and make it sound nice, him better than me, but there's limits to what you can do based on your hardware, sorta like trying to run gta 5 on a 15 year old computer, you might get it to work, and it might look pretty, but its not gonna run well.

Price of the guitar, not so much. Price of the amplifier? Yeah

Price of guitar does matter, it doesn’t matter because of tone, that’s from the amp mostly but it matters for quality of the instrument itself. If you want that instrument to last you years and not have any problems, you should go for a higher priced one. Often times when you buy $100 guitars the quality of the wood and pickups is horrible. Btw pro tip from a guitarist who’s been playing a while: if you want a cheaper guitar, never buy a squier guitar, there basses are fine but there guitars are horrible. Epiphones are way better and around the same price.

Acoustics sound way better when expensive. Electric do too but it’s harder for the novice to really pick up on the difference. It also can just be subjective.

to be fair, those cheap ones hold tune pretty well now days as long as you string them properly, and almost any guitar can feel nice to play if you know how to/take it to someone to have a full fret job and setup done on it, the pickups are where you notice it most, you can hear the mids and lows so much more clearly on the expensive guitar, but that being said, you could also spend a few thousand on pickups alone and jam those into the cheap guitar and then get awesome tones out of it too, cheap guitars are still cheap guitars, but they've come a long way and they're a whole lot better than the cheap guitars that were around when i was a kid.

Any real musician can. On a sound standpoint I prefer the 100$ strat but what’s to be considered is the playability.

Definitely to a certain point. But neck feel is different, and definitely pick up quality is noticeable. But your point is right that a great guitar player will sound better on a cheap guitar than a crap guitar player sounds on an expensive one.

Amp definitely makes a difference in sound quality but a good guitar player can adjust. Too much twang? (which you get with cheap guitar/amp) use the neck pick-up and don't pick so hard.

But also bear in mind a lot of the difference in what you're hearing is the pickups. The 100$ has single coils so its gonna have nice chime like clean tones, the 10,000$ is going to come off a little more refined and 'muddy'. Still gorgeous sound, but slightly apples to oranges on that front.

Really? I thought the 10k brought out those lower frequencies way better than the 100. The 100 almost sounded nasally in that sense. But I do agree with the other commenter here that it's a difference in the pickups in that case.

@@132wrere Yeah was gonna say, single coils sound very nice, even shitty ones. On the flipside I have really good pickups and electronics in my cheapo Squire and it doesn't sound that good. But it's a super cheap model 100 bucks range. Gonna try putting the fancy pickups in a 250 Affinity Squire. And get a Fender soon. I'm tired of all my cheap guitars, the one that sounds by far the best also cost the most. But not 10k... But I love my Korean made Epis, one has Gibson PU's and sounds amazing. Still more like a 600 dollar guitar, that probably the sweet spot 500-1500 bucks.
