I built several solar arrays on wheels in my backyard. I use nylon cord and tent stakes to secure them to my lawn. They’ve survived every wind storm so far.

Good good. But would you value any potential to 'Slip' the wind by leaving maybe as much as a 3" gap between those panels? I have very strong winds and wind gusts and I'm interested reduce even 15%
@billbradley2480
@billbradley2480 3 дня назад
@@crackerjack6075 it might help to leave a gap. I haven’t tried that. I’ve learned through trial and error how to strap my arrays to the ground. 3 nylon cords in back and one in front. Last couple years they haven’t blown over. We get 40 or 50 mph winds a couple times per year. I always place my arrays so if they do get blown over they land on grass. No damaged panels so far.

I replaced the two horizontal channels with unistrut - it's a lot more sturdier now and does not sag.

The biggest concern with solar racks isn't weight and supporting it, its wind uplift and making sure it doesn't take off in a breeze.

I built 6 separate PG solar arrays on wheels. They’re in my backyard and I used nylon cord and tent stakes to secure them to the lawn. 3 in back and one in front. They’ve survived every wind storm so far. I move two of the arrays daily for morning and evening sun. The big array I move every 6 months for winter then summer sun. The big array is 3 of the small arrays connected in series.

@dieseldawg7132 how did your setup do with the recent storms? Did you lose power? I'm looking into a setup like this, but dealing with Centerpoint will probably be the worst (I don't wanna go to the grid, but I DO want to run from panels to generator to meter).
@dieseldawg7132
@dieseldawg7132 Месяц назад
@@ninjabuck2576 I lost power for about 5 days I’m in the cypress area and man it did great. I have a delta pro with two extra batteries, didn’t have to run my huge 13000 duromax much at all only when we needed to flush the toilets or take showers I have a well pump so I need the 240 other than that we basically ran off the solar… a few times I did have to use my little Honda generator… recently sold it and went with a maxspeedingrods 5500watt generator as a back up to the solar…. I was able to run a portable a/c and use the coffeemaker and the air frier and micro wave…. It came in clutch and tell me about it center point freaking sucks… I been through so many grid failures I said I’ll go into solar and get a generator…. It’s expensive but at the end of the day you don’t have to struggle or loose sleep.

@@ninjabuck2576 ru-vid.com6tt7ShqOxMY?si=WKpP92_9DA4shHoM so this is one of my videos and man I did extremely well hardly had to use my big generator when I did it was just to flush toilets and take a shower… I have a smaller back up generator to supplement the delta pro and two batteries…. Most days I can charge everything to 100% with out haven’t to use the generator if there is extreme cloudiness or thunderstorms then I might have to use my small generator…. And yes centerpoint is a pain I’m located in cypress so I have had to get into solar and generators it’s some what expensive but it’s definitely worth having….. and honestly I use the solar daily to wash clothes…. Power some portable a/c use the microwave and air frier….

Buy 3 of them and then make 2 stands so you have 3 sets of support legs on each of them. Since they are cheap it’s still a good savings that way. Also I’ve seen them much cheaper on eBay
@preppingforprophecy7680
@preppingforprophecy7680 4 месяца назад
If you are making multiple solar arrays, then buy three kits to make two arrays. Use the third kit to add the middle support that is lacking in their design. Two well built solar arrays from three $100 kits still is a good price.

great little review, I'm renting in TX so i cant do anything permanent but was looking for something to power a solar generator. If you find any other semi-permanent mounts like this, I'd be very interested in recommendations.

Thanks for sharing. I was trying to avoid fence post digging for something that i would only use when there is an extended power outage since i live in hurricane alley USA. Wheel it out during the outage and wheel it out of sight once power is back.

Thanks for the cool video, I purchased mine on Amazon for $118 last week! How long are the 4x4s you mounted your stand on and did you go with the 2-inch or 3-inch wheels?

This looks awesome for the price, but is there a big advantage over just building the whole thing yourself out of wood and/or something like Unistrut?
@737smartin
@737smartin 2 месяца назад
“Big advantage?” Suppose it would vary user to user. This kit is delivered to your door in a reasonably small package. No truck required. Unistrut is far from free. This kit at $88 would be cheaper than I could get materials and hardware for commercially. It’s a kit with a plan and instructions. Low, low requirement for invention and building tools / skills.

You installed the two sets of support struts a little too far apart, which is why you get the sagging.

you could probably add something to stiffen(reinforce) the horizontal rails and lose the sag.
@wigenite

Mine don't sag like that, so not sure what's going on there. But I also got wider panels on by mounting them from the bottom and not using the included mounts, maybe the compressed fit helps? counter?
