We have Tonewinner, IOTAVX, and Emotiva processors each under $1500. Emotiva coming in at $999. Which one would you want to see a review on first? Michael had bad experiences with room correction from Emotiva, EMO-Q, have they upgraded it? Would the room correction from the other two be any better? You get a few less channels with the Emotiva, would that matter to you?

I think it’s a fantastic option at that price for someone to get into pre pros . We need more companies doing this to keep this awesome hobby alive .

It's Friday fellas and the first snow storm in my city. I live in New York City where the infamous shoot out was held in midtown Manhattan. Channa D was the star of the show lol along with FOMO and the rest of the great guys. So long for now enjoy your weekend fellas and be safe out there.

I disagree with Joe when he said a "fair test" would be to run them both in "direct" for comparison. Wouldn't you want to compare their processing (for theater)? Isn't that one of the hypothetical improvements when choosing separates; the processing? The processing is better because that is all the unit is designed to do. Maybe compare them in "direct" if you were performing a 2 speaker stereo test.?

A direct mode comparison will reveal which unit has higher quality power delivery and preamp sections.

@@wa2368 please explain "higher power quality delivery". I don't understand exactly what you mean, but want to.

How this had it all gotten out of control. $3000.00 to $5000.00 are not a reality for allot us any more. Not allot of receivers have the ability to switch off the amplifiers when in Preout mode. Also the HDMI arms race is just stupid anyway. If you have a legit reason for HDMI switching, well you get what you get. I fortunately consolidated most of my content view and listening that is not dependent on HDMI switching, as my TV does what I want. I can insert a blue Ray player if I want no problem. I use legacy products that have no HDMI switching at all. The Anthem AVM-30, and a Denon AVR-4802. Giving the big middle finger to HDMI for the most part. I don’t do Atmos, or need 8K UHD pass through or switching. The sound and the build of the two options I have are great. Been doing this a long time and frankly just tired of the BS HDMI is and all the bells and whistles that do nothing for me. I want things like a beefy linear power supply, no class D amps. Running Parasound HCA and classic on my towers, and Emotiva BAS-X all else. Easy! Except for the Emotiva, all of this is used gear. Denon was $350.00 and so was the Anthem. $480.00 for a used Parasound HCA-1500A and $380.00 for a 2125. Nothing here even approaches a cheap preamplifier processor money. They about cheap receiver money new. Options are all over the place if the latest and greatest are not your thing nor do you want it. I used to chase Home Theater for the latest but even at accommodation money and other connections, this is a rich man’s game. I helped many people who have the means and those who are more frugal. In either case I helped realize their dreams. Many are like me. Some want the $100,000.00 plus system. Sure been there done that. The most fun was the average system on the frugal side and how much fun the owners had with their gear versus the high rollers that spent the green and didn’t care what they got. Doctors and other professionals who wanted the very best and had no care what it meant. Exceptions though. A Bank President I knew had the finest you could get. All Krell and Bowers and Wilkins. And much more including a TEAC A-3340s reel to reel. I helped him restore that. He loves the system and the fun tape brings to him. His home theater, very modest. Still B&W and a Denon AVR-5800. He loves that too to this day too. So you can keep chasing it or settle down on something that is special for you. Me? I look for bargains that people cast away and I get them for Pennies on the dollar.

It makes no sense that manufacturers are charging so much for a trimmed down AVR. No, sound quality is purely subjective so that's not a good argument. There's no reason why they can't just produce pre-amp only versions of their powered AVRs. Pre-amplification isn't a new technology and every AVR is already doing it internally anyway.

same, Emotiva MC-1 is doing what we want, but base on it's performance, still overpriced. I will happy to pay 700usd for a pre-amp XLR only Denon X3700h

That's because AVR makers are spending more on licensing than amplifiers.

If you wanna go big !!!, I think way to go in 2022 is IOTAVX AVX17 AVR + DDRC-88A(x2) + Monoprice M8250x(x2) , this is gonna be the hit, key is pre-pro can be swapped…keep the rest intact! This is balanced setup as well. No measurements for any of these, Amps have since they are hypex ncore.

I recently grabbed a Denon 4700h for the pre out, knowing I'm going to add external amplification soon. After that, I'm interested in trying out multiple dedicated processors. I want to hear if there is a noticeable difference.

So I came from a long line of Sound United products and have been using MultiEQ-X for quite sometime now but recently picked up an Emo MC1. While the EMO Q is absolutely awful, I generate PEQ filters in REW and than manually input them into the Emo with solid results. For $870 out the door (military discount) there isn’t a cheaper way to go full 7.4.6. While there’s only 5 bands for the sub PEQ my MiniDSP HD takes care of that

I have an excess of 6,8, and 12 channel power amps. A cheap processor doing the basics is perfect for my master bedroom. My lanai / pool surround system. And maybe even my family room. And then get higher end for the theater/media room. For the good room you can get a nice 5-10k or more processor But the market doesn’t have any $1k-1500 entry level processors /separates. These fit nicely.

The Basx Mc1 has changed my life. I now have a 7.2.4 system. Two basx amps, a two channel Parasound for left right. Great atmos, but the surprise is the music. Don't know the Dac but most if my digital music goes through this thing now. A home run really. For 999$

Hey. 9.2.4 or 7.2.6? Which is better?
@musicman8270
@musicman8270 Год назад
@@josealfredfernandes The basics mc1 has provisions for two wide channels on the bed layer, making for 9.2.4 system. I just didn't see the need and really didn't have the space for them. Six channels for Atmos is probably better than four, but four serves me fine. I would get at least four Atmos channels. And I've had 7.1 or 7.2 bed channels for years. Don't see how people with 5 channel's and subs get by without those back channels

@@musicman8270 so, for 30ft x 17 ft x 9 ft ceiling, should I got for 9.2.4 or 7.2.6?

@@josealfredfernandes I would rather have six Atmos channels myself. Never tried the wide channels so I really don't understand their purpose

My IOTAVX AVX17 is on the way. I have no experience with separates or room correction. I have other products from IOTAVX, so I'm confident that it's going to be an enjoyable and exciting journey. I doubt my "theater" will make use of all 17 channels, but we'll see.

Where did you order from if I may know?

Cancel it! get the ToneWinner instead from Summit HiFi - ToneWinner is the OEM of all of them - they designed it. the only difference is a 4th sub channel - and zones. the ToneWinner AT-300 is $1400 and you get all but sub 2&3 XLR outputs. the extra $600 for the IOTAVX isn't worth it IMHO. I have the Emotiva and I bought the TW AT-300 for $400 more and will be returning the Emotiva.

Also wouldn’t there be difference between connecting via XLR and RCA?
