I did purchase a few other lots of stuff so the shipping wasn't too bad for this single lot. I'm really happy with the condition of the JC Penny car and to my surprise I am really liking the Conrail boxcar.

I have that same engine I put a different motor in mine that has a larger armature, #8040-128, and a rubber traction tire. It runs superbly and pulls well too!! Thank you for sharing!!

Nice work modding your engine. I thought the armature seemed a bit tiny :)

Nice addition to your collection, and a terrific price too! I think that engine is going to be a pretty good runner after you do a full clean/lubrication on the motor and axels. I share your sentiment toward your JC Penney car. My first train set was purchased by my parents at the Sears store in Waukegan, Illinois. We would make a trip as a family to the store every other month or so and I would disappear to the toy department. Thanks for the video!

Very nice! That 8602 had many iterations, depending on the year. It came as a 2-4-0, a 2-4-2 and a 4-4-2 arrangement. It's a cool, little locomotive. It doesn't have too much pulling power, but it will do fine with those cars that you got with it. An excellent video, as always.

It's been a while since I've grilled anything, although a working grill helps. Nice set of cars there.

Haha Yes indeed. Hard to break an old style Webber kettle grill I'm really liking my growing collection of cheap tiny boxcars.

Thanks! I gotta work on my chicken thigh cooking (turned out only - ok). But that pork tenderloin turned out awesome! (Smithfield pre marinated Teriyaki)

@@TooManyHobbiesJeremy You might try pre-cooking the chicken thigh in the microwave before putting it on the grill. That’s worked for me.

Excellent idea. My issue is with seasoning. Just not getting it flavorful enough. I'll have to work on marinating and or brining.

The JC Penny car is a gem. I like the Conrail car, But since I model the mid fifties the Conrail car wouldn’t work. I have two videos on the 8.5” box cars. Explains the post war cars and body types. And a second for the more modern ones. I enjoy your videos.

What a great purchase! Be very wary of the hydrogen peroxide method. I know of many circumstances where that ends up with the plastic getting even worse.

Thank you for the warning So far the tank car is looking much better. A follow up video will be coming when I get the loco finished. I'm super happy with how well every car has cleaned up.

Old lionel conventional stuff is nearly immortal, seems like. Less stress over repairs without all the new-fangled electronics.
