We're back from our Summer break with the absolutely wonderful Genesis G90! Expect weekly videos from now on, with quite a few really cool videos on the way! But would you take a G90 over an S-Class? Or would you rather spend $30,000+ more for the Mercedes?
I have a 2017 Genesis G90 and love it. I've owned a couple of S-Class Mercedes and really like the Genesis better. Every little feature in a S580 is an additional cost: Heads-up display, rear seat packages, etc., whereas in the Genesis, virtually every option is standard equipment. If you're shopping for an S Class, seriously take a look at these. The parking attendants at snazzy restaurants will still be impressed. No one else really cares...
First let me be clear, I am not a professional car reviewer, but only a car collector who is excellent at knowing value and how to make money! I happen to own a 2021 G90 5.0 24k miles and I use it several times a week locally. Also, I just took delivery of a new 2024 G90 e supercharged Makalu Gray with white interior. This is now my wife's daily driver. Of course she gets the new one just because I like her. Plus we are married 39 years with seven adult children and 5 grandchildren. So she deserves it. WARNING BEFORE YOU CONTINUE READING and you are a Genesis basher, or a S Class or 7 Series koolaid drinker no need to read on. Only trying to assist some one seriously considering purchasing a G90 for the first time. Firstly, may I disclose that I did not buy them to try and impress people. Buying to show off Badging is for those who have an inferior complex. I didn’t buy them for speed. I simply bought them for comfortability at a great value. Unless you own one its impossible to have a valued assessment. An opinion of course, as everyone is entitled to one. I laugh when I read the comments regarding it's not fast enough. The car is not designed to be a super car. Let's be for real as it's a $101k luxury car, yes luxury car. It may be at the lower tier of luxury cars, but still is one in my opinion. I am fortunate to have purchased so many cars I have lost count. Not bad for a Non-High School grad and homeless at 17. I didn’t let that hold me back. I am so fortunate to now own several exotic cars, which is still hard to believe when I am driving them. To go from 0-60 in under 3 seconds is an amazing experience. When we track them (Yes my wife included) its simply exhilarating to say the least! I've had one S Class 2020 560 AWD 463 hp/516 lbs torque with about every upgrade available. It was in no question a beautiful car. It is an amazing and all about luxury. So its 4 years older then the 2024 G90, but cost 32k more out the door. For me the 2024 G90 is as good as the 2020 S 560. To be fair the 2024 G90 is 4 years newer than the 2020 S560 which was loaded. It was also $138k. We are more then pleased with the G 90's. We have had an excellent experience with them. We buy them out of state and they are delivered to us directly. The Genesis dealership we deal with is in Danbury Connecticut. They are a first class operation great to deal with. Honestly, not that we care but we get more looks/comments in the G 90's than the S Class ever got. Many times people ask if its a Bentley, and I always say its actually a Korean Bentley! Again, this is solely my opinion as it cost me alot of money to form it!
I’m pretty sure you know but the Bentley designer, is also the designer for Genesis. I believe he’s also designed for BMW. So it’s definitely 💯 percent the Korean Bentley
This car is amazing in almost every aspect! It's just missing the 8 cylinder. I recently took delivery of a 2024 E Supercharged in Makalu Gray with the all white interior. This is my 5th Genesis vehicle and my 2nd G90, which is a 2021 5.0. In silver with the taupe interior and the crazy Maybach looking wheels. Although my wife says the 2024 is quick enough for her. That because she knows if she wants more acceleration, she just jumps in her 2022 C8 Corvette LT2 with the Z51 package. 0-60 2.9 seconds. I am an exotic guy myself, but must admit Chevrolet took the Corvette from a American Sports car into an exotic class, and for a lot less money. Wait until I take delivery on the 2024 C8 Z06 I ordered. She does have access to my cars too! Remember a happy wife makes for a happy life!😊 I must admit that the 2024 G90 ride, comfort and tech is amazing!!! She also has a 2020 G80 and ŵe put one of our sons in a G70 (He is an employee and its a perk). I have become a big Genesis fan since 2017. I am no longer drinking the S Class and 7 Series koolaid. My wife actually says enjoys the Genesis G90's over any of the S Class or 7 Series we previously owned! I am happy to use the savings towards the inheritance of our 7 adult children and our grandchildren. My best friend has an 2022 LS 500, and he is blown away at our G90s, but he really loves the exotics.
Glad you're enjoying your G90, it really is fantastic! On Monday we're picking up an S-Class for a week... very curious how they compare! We'll certainly mention the G90 in our upcoming S-Class review!
Unfortunately we missed that feature in our review - it does in fact have front AND rear massage as you have pointed out. It really is a fantastic vehicle.
We quite love the G90! Not sure how you got the impression that we don't, but as journalists it's our job to point out what's good and what's bad about a vehicle. And while the G90 does have some minor flaws, it is an amazing vehicle overall.
Amazing review you guys! A small thing that you guys were dissapointed about, the rear *massage seats* , as far as i can remenber, the other G90s' i saw have massage seats on basically all of their seats!
Thanks for the kind words! And you're the second person to mention that the G90 does, in fact, have rear massage seats. We thought we looked quite thoroughly but must've somehow missed the obvious. That makes the G90 even more fantastic!
It looks great and seems to have good reviews. Are the reviews paid for, probably. The main issue for me is the dealership service dept. Very very bad reviews everywhere online about service dept, no loaners, no time frame on service, very bad communication. Service is a very big part of owning an expensive car like this! Especially if you’re in a city with only 1 dealership.
Oh trust me, if these reviews would be paid for my bank account would be looking *a lot* different 😂 Genesis makes genuinely fantastic products, but as you have pointed out the service around them is their biggest issue.
