@@jxstobi859 Everyone has a different perspective and I do think he's a bit harsh on the Razer keyboard. Of course it's over priced, that comes with the territory with Razer, but I feel like at times he's not really considering the target demographics of each board and how well they do satisfying those demos. I have an RK84 as my work keyboard and I'll say it's great for productivity and things like that. A lot of the same positives he mentioned carry to my board. But for gaming, I have a separate Logitech keyboard (G915 TKL) that I use instead and this is where I think Rom is missing the mark. For the gamer that isn't a typing/keyboard enthusiast and mostly configures things through software (especially if they're trying to match other peripherals), I think the Razer stomps on the RK board. Wearing headphones with a lot of game audio will mostly nullify his sound complaints about the Razer board and the brighter RGB is a big plus for dark room gaming (as he pointed out). In addition to the physical product, you're also paying for what I assume is a more robust warranty and customer service experience from Razer, which I doubt RK can replicate. So my point is that other than the form factor, I think this is a somewhat unfair comparison since to me, they don't exactly target the same demographics and I think each board looks much better when you take their target demos into consideration. That said, I think his assessment holds up well if you're considering the Hunstman Mini as work/productivity keyboard. As a comparison, it's like comparing a pick up truck to a van and complaining that the truck doesn't have the seating capacity of the van or that it's not easy to get into as the van. Just my opinion though ad it's important to keep in mind that Rom is also catering to his demographic, which are probably keyboard enthusiasts.

Ive been an RK61 user for a year now, and i was thinking of switching to the Huntsman but this video has made me appreciate my KB a lot more, GREAT JOB, new sub!

ping is the metalic sound that is made when you press a key, and the more it has, the worse it is soundwise. doesn’t really matter how hard he presses it
FUN FACT: The Red Linear switch version of the Huntsman mini is the V2, which has dampeners, and is ALLEDGEDLY factory lubed (but there is no real evidence of this), which gives it a better typing experience and sound. But does that make the keyboard any more worth it? I don't know about that one, chief. Also, RK61 has ABS keycaps not PBT. I'm an idiot sandwich. P.S. Quite a few peeps can't wrap their small head around the fact that arrows keys aren't just for gaming but also or navigation through documents/daily usage - such disappoint
One thing I think is very overlooked with the huntsman mini is how good it is when modded. The razer red switches have a rubber damper inside that makes the keys amazing with some lube. Throw some foam in the bottom and it sounds super deep and overall great.

Quick side note: If you're looking to buy a RK61 make sure you get the newer upgraded version you can tell if it's the newer one if it says this : "Red/blue/brown Hotswapable switches" and you can also tell if it has Bluetooth make sure you get this one
That was pretty a pretty cool video. Somehow the outcome was expected though 🙃 I've used Royal Kludge keyboards on a couple of budget builds so far and I've always been really pleased with the results. With lubed switches and stabilizers along with added rigidity, fill and wight to the casing and they sound and feel great for the price! - plus they support bluetooth which on occasions is pretty handy!
Wow the huntsman mini has built in rgb tech as well you just have to click FN and Ctrl at the same time the click 1,2,3,4,5,6 and it has great rgb patters. The noise isn’t bad honestly it’s pretty satisfying I think the huntsman mini is the winner in my book. This dude completely makes it look like the huntsman mini suck and it’s a really good keyboard
As a lefty gamer, the huntsman arrow key placement is better. Also the rk keys are not fully customizable A big feature you need for a small factor keyboards. Thats why Anne pro dominates. Great detailed review man. Keep up the good work

Just get the RK61 and do a bunch of mods to it. Swap the switches with some nice lubed (and maybe filmed) ones to your taste, lube and band-aid mod the stabilizers (and make sure they're leveled), grab some nice looking keycaps, and add some toolbox liner as padding under the PCB. Boom, super high quality keyboard even with a plastic case!
I know this is old, but I feel like you got the switch that's loud on purpose and then you complained that its loud. I have the one with the red switches and they come pre lubed from the factory and are insanely silent. I was able to get some lube on my stabs as well and they're now nice and smooth and quiet. The real feature of the Razer is the optical switches. For gaming its incredible and the small form factor of the 60% gives you lots of extra room for mouse movements on your deskmat. Also, a year later the Huntsman Mini is regularly priced around $100 and can regularly be found on sale for about $70. Was it worth $120 last year? No, probably not, but its gone down in price where the RK61 is now more expensive. Also... if you're gaming with arrow keys, you shouldn't get a 60% keyboard... you also shouldn't be gaming with arrow keys...
Here is a detail, the 40 dollar keyboard using the 80 dollar price difference can be converted into a keyboard superior to the Razer, I did it and it did not reach 100 dollars.
I recommend the linear reds for the Razer huntsman mini not only are they WAY better for gaming and pretty good typing experience the huntsman mini is my favorite keyboard of all time (And before people say yes I am aware of custom mechanical keyboards but am I going to buy one......NO)
Im using the RK and its really the best ive used so far. Have tried major brands and enthusiast brands. Im not on a budget but it has all the features i need (bluetooth, mac compatibility and german layout). I game on pc and work on mac, so the quick switch to pc/mac layout is the clear winner for me. Also its got the mac symbol markings on the keys which is a plus.
Nice video! I actually returned my Rk61 a couple weeks ago because a month or two after I had it some of the keys stopped working randomly. I tried everything to try to get them to function again. So overall I think I’m going to get the huntsman mini because it’s a big trusted brand not like all the k61s which are from random Chinese brands!
So, i actually have my own experience with this. I got a razor huntsman mini about a year ago, sounded mediocre but I didn’t care and felt alright after use for one year my g key, v key, and p key all were getting sticky and not responsive, worst thing is the key switches aren’t replaceable.. so i decided to throw it out and get the rk61. All i can say is it feels better, sounds better, and the rbg is so much brighter. Worth the 40$ and is one of the best 60% keyboards on the market. The huntsman mini one of the worst feeling and doesn’t last more than a year, its maybe worth 25$
I have both and for me personally I think the rk61 is better in some aspects because 1:it has lasted so long and with the price that is listed I thought it wouldn’t last more than a month and I’ve had it for almost a year now 2:the options of keys that are listed before purchasing is way more than the huntsman which only has 2 And even though it’s not better than the rk “in my opinion” I still am happy I got it and even since I like how it feels I know people are going to have mixed feeling about this comment so please no mean comments I’m just expressing my thought
I built an rk61 with blue clear rgb gateron switches and custom keycaps and its sooo perfect and clicky. I always used razer board with green tactile switches but blues are even more clicky and the press registers at the exact moment of the click where as my 3 razer keyboards didnt activate or release at the exact position of the click. Just my observation. Also all my razer boards had wire stabalizers on the longer keys like tab shift and spacebar but RK doesnt need them.
I've got the RK61. It's an amazing little keyboard. Took me a while to get used to since I come from using TKL keyboards, but it's well worth it since I needed the space on my table.
although the rk61 software is a bit hard to find it has a lot of helpful features such as : lighting, macro keys, and changing each keys to what you want. you can also hold function key and enter key at the same time for a bit to change the arrow keys to arrow keys without having to hold the function key
The clucky version of the huntsmen is horrible but definitely the linear version would take the win in this one because there isent any ping nor rattle and the keys barely move doesn’t sound the best but great if you just wanna be a competitive gamer because it is currently the fastest manufactured keyboard in the world
why haven't you shown them the typing sound of red linear switch of huntsmen mini? it could have been the most soothing sound in comparison to other switches here. And for competitive gaming linear huntsmen mini is 100 times better than rk. Fast movement, dodging snipers etc are key factors in competitive gaming that you cant do in rk keyboards as fast as razer huntsmen mini linear ! If you are not a competitive gamer then u can get the rk maybe.
I have the huntsman mini and it’s actually really good the linear opticals feels super good and responsive but the case itself should’ve been made out of Aluminium or how quality it is super light
Managed to cop a Razer Huntsman TE in like new condition on amazon for 75 bucks after tax and I'm happy with it especially the ultra low latency optical switches
Linear huntsman has no ping and not rattle and I’ve been using it since linear version came out. And also pressing fn and then press numbers 1-7 to have various different styles
You should really talk about the macro options and whether they fav be stored on boards. No one gives them enough thought and just focuses on appearance factors…
I've used both of these keyboards. The RK61 was 70€ for me, while the Huntsman Mini cost me 68€. I much prefer the Huntsman Mini tbh, and that's because of three aspects: 1. I love the V2 Optical Linear switch Razer used in the board. It's really silent and feels satisfying to use, before I used Gateron Silent Reds and Cherry MX Pinks (also silent) which both felt mushy and scratchy. Because the Razer V2 Optical switch is, well, optical, it is super smooth and doesn't scratch. 2. PBT keycaps right from the start. I think ABS keycaps can sound much better than PBT sometimes but I disagree with that on the Optical Switches. Tried swapping them out and the PBT was just superior. Not to mention the longevity of it. 3. The last reason is a glaring issue with the RK61. While I agree the Fn+Arrow functionality on it is perfect, it randomly started to write in Capslock while typing fast. It would happen after I actuated 3-4 switches in rapid succession. Extremely annoying, no idea how to fix it so I sold the board for around 50€ on Ebay Classifieds. All in all, if you use the Arrowkeys a lot, then why even get a 60%? If you still want a 60% but need the arrow keys, you should get the RK61 or any other chinese knockoff of it. But really, the Huntsman Mini can be really cheap sometimes and is like 10 times better in sound and functionality
