Based on your earlier tests of Rockville amps I bought a 5 channel version. It did a great job for the little money I paid for it. Glad to see that Rockville is still making decent gear for a great price! My Rockville subs are still kicking arse!
I've had the DB14 driving 2 x 1KW Ground Zero subs for around 5 years and no complaints so far. I also just got the DB45, but not yet installed. I'm gonna look for your DB45 review now. Thanks for sharing.
@@foreoscartautalagia4731 I never used it I'm afraid. Had to sell it because it was longer than I wanted for the box I wanted to mount it on. Must check dimensions in future. I've had no complaints come back so assume it's doing great!
Boss, Planet Audio, Sound Storm Labs, and a few other's are all owned by Boss Audio, Lanzar is owned by Sound Around who takes their lessons from Boss Audio. Basically they live by "Lets put totally false power ratings on our equipment and tell everyone we're the best."
I have been using this Rockville db14 in my 2013 Ram in a custom fiberglass box with 2, 12s @ 2ohm for about a year and zero issues. I still need to open it up and do the silicone for extra peace of mind, but this Amp stats cool, bass knob is well made, never blown a fuse and I use it a lot at max. Never bought anything Rockville. I got a package with Amp, install kit, and 2 Rockville k6 subs, but my truck box needs more space for the k6s. So not using them. I tested them for awhile in box, but needed more space.
i bought this amp cuz of this video, and its been pretty good to me for 8 months now @ 2 ohm.. didnt have the money for a better amp but wishing i did now, its not pushing my subs hard enough for me. will probably sell it soon and get a wolfram 2400, thanks for the tip on that btw
WeirdJerz3y I was gonna say the same but you beat me to it he showed his face with a video about hisarm anda surgery and he showed off his work shop I think
Hey Ryan Blankenship. love the videos you and BigDWiz put up, you guys are honest and clearly not influenced by any big named brands. i ordered this amp for my single 15 kicker l7 in a ported box tuned to 33hz. wished u would have done the next amp dyno on the DB25 instead, because i plan to order it for two selenium 8mb4p......i know it will b good power for them but just for the bragging rights.....lol. continue the great job OK
Love the channel. Could you go more in depth about what to look for in the guts of an amp. Like what caps, resistors, etc. That makes certain amps work better or out last another amp. Thanks
Couldnt find this amp anywhere, so based on this review and the great reviews of the the DB15 on Amazon I bought the DB15. The DB15 is 1500 watts rms and my dvc4 sub only handles 1000 watts rms , but im gonna get a multimeter and hook it up to my amp without the sub attached and adjust the gain to try to get around 44.7 volts from the terminals and that should give me around 1K watts from the amp. And I think it will be better running a bigger amp at 3/4th power than running a smaller amp at max power all the time. Great vid
@@descolero1 I have the DB15 now hooked up to a K9D4 and it pushes hard, its nice having reserve power for the future, I'm only at 3/4 on the amp and it hammers.
@@tooshmart6669 nice do you have any videos of it on your channel? I might get it soon i have a 12 in. type R only pushing 600 watts it hits but it should hit harder than it does. Hopefully that amp helps. Thought it was weird it didnt have a fuse only an external fuse.
Although somewhat of a petty complaint, I don't like the name "Rockville". I recall when they first came out, they were on the same level as Boss, and seemed to try to deceive people by sounding like "Rockford" . I'll have to submit that they cleaned up their act somewhat. I say 'somewhat' because there is no excuse to put extravagant peak power ratings on something. I addition, their rep was soured more by the recent debacle with the K9 subwoofers which were burning up on rated power because they basically used copper windings which were seemingly adhered to a toilet paper roll using Elmer's glue.
@@bigblank69 Formers are typically made of kapton, alminum or even more exotically titanium like in Morel. Yeah, it was a bit of a hyperbole/joke but on their description on the K9s they were adamantly describing how high quality it is which ended being a real disappointment. Anyhow, I digress... As far as the name goes, you are right, I did mix that up with Rockwood however my stance still remains the same, anybody that uses "Rock" is there name is simply alluding to RF for strategic reasons.
I still have my 10 inch Rockville K9 and if you broke the sub in on about half the CEA rating (which was 800 watts for my 10) until the spiders loosened up you could then turn your amp up to the 800 watt CEA rating with no problems.
@@misterhat5823 ahh yes kenford and rockwood. My friend in the early 90's had a rockwood detonator 300 watts was pretty big heat sink with a board about the size of a cigarette pack inside.
Heck yea !!Dude cool video and a giveaway too cant beat that!!! Hope u could get an mtx amp like a thunder or one of their others to see what they can actually do!!Anyways thank you for all u do bro!!
I have 2 Rockville RC10CA's that overheat and go into protect in minutes if you have the gain set at anything more than the minimum. I even setup 4 80mm computer fans, 1 fan on the left & right sides of each unit, to blow air on them to keep them from going into protect after only a few minutes of use. I replaced them with a different brand of amp and dual shallow 12's and I can play that newer setup literally for hours w/o any heat issues. So I'm NOT a fan of Rockville. I'd sell the RC10CA's but I don't want to burden anyone else with something that constantly wants to overheat!!!
My name is Larry baynum and I love the women of the rock bills because I'm a Rockville fan I love all their products big d wiz love your show Duda awesome I love watching your dinos I learned a lot and but the right stuff to get by watching your videos thumbs up in a five-star for you
This is awesome! I have been looking at rockville for a while trying to figure out a good budget brand and so far the products are looking ok. shipping might take a while, I'm in Chicago and ordered a few things from Rockville and some shipped from Texas and another from Florida. plastic parts might be cracked but overall I think you get what you pay for. I'm thinking of getting a RXD-T2 mini amp to power a sub but not sure yet.
too bad i'm in Canada. costs way more for us, but it's still cheaper than any 1000W rms 2ohm amp i can buy in any store here. might have to scoop one of these up next paycheque LOL
I have the RXH-F5 (8 months) and the RXD-M3 (3 months) and both of them are fantastic. Even in this Arizona heat they haven't once gone into protect. Especially the A/B. Solid company. Anyone who says they're garbage, obviously hasn't bought one or they fried it due to a shit install which is more the likey the case. (99% of the dweebs that don't know how to use an oscilloscope or dmm blame it on the company. It's a shame.)
@budget gems or bust. They test every amp individually in house twice once for just the board then the completed amp and also send the amps to a non officiated 3rd party company to I guess do the cea rating test so before a Rockville amp goes out to a customer it's tested a minimum of atleast 3 times.
It’s one reason why I don’t trust buying a cheap amplifier even if it does rated because they can fail within the month and / or, parts can come loose.
Do you ever test an amp for longevity? Thats what I'm worried about, when buying an amp that you feature in some of you videos. Also, do you ever test sound quality? I'm looking for a good amp for a 600rms sound quality build. Not very concerned about SPL, more about excellent, tight bass reproduction.
My dad's always held to Kenwood for long lasting I've had luck running a amp i got for $5 $25 including the subs im using a jvc 500watt i think my mono was discontinued but 4 channel are a easy find around $60 i think but it goes in a small tub behind my seats in my hatchback was used before i bought it great sound but I'd find a newer duel amp he's showed them my friends got one in his leaky convertible its still kicking they're really compact and not bad punch he's running a 12
I just bought a kicker 43dc122 with this amp and the wires for $400. was skeptical but the subs retail for $300 and amp for $130 and after watching reviews on both sub and amp i purchased the combo
Whatever happened to the Rockville subs that were 100 bucks? They were supposed to be amazing then they had coil problems. Did they ever fix the coil problems?
The fact that they show fairly accurate numbers (other two b.s. numbers is kinda crappy although they do seem to spell out what they are if you're intelligent enough to read between the lines) I would rock this amp proudly and even let it be known to friends lol.. I mean I feel like I have to appreciate them going as far as to state the truth when so very many others just blatantly lie on their numbers, and in print... Large block lettering on a shiny box for every poor 16 year old to drool over. I was that kid once, and luckily I met a guy at the local high end car audio store that helped me see the way. Where I easily could have spent a few months worth of (hard to come by) 30 after school hours a week @ minimum wage ($4.25/hr. @ the time) paychecks on a Sparcomatic or Pyramid amplifier & subwoofer just going on what I thought had to be truth in advertising... I could have easily fallen for that trick but I was shown the difference & that you actually DO get what you pay for. I ended up friends with a couple of guys who were better off than myself & that had more connections or were employed in the mobile audio business so I was lucky that I could befriend just about anyone that was a decent person & didn't think just way too much of themselves, which there is a lot of in the mobile electronics world. I'm actually going to try to get in on the running for this thing! Thanks to halfway decent companies & super awesome videos from guys like this the next generation of kids getting their first taste of "you get what you pay for" actually have a chance if they are smart enough to do some homework. Thanks RB for doing these! You put lots of time and money into this & in my opinion it's a way way way overdue public service that you honestly SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DO!!! WHERE ARE THE TRUTH IN ADVERTISING POLICE?!!? LOL
I wish you would be a little less conservative with testing amps at lower loads.i understand you're not making much off RU-vid yet but what you do is incredibly important in the car audio scene you and BigD are saving people thousands. For example I really want to know how the audiopipe 2k (apmi?) Runs at half ohm plenty of people swear it works great but can only trust you or big D. And I bet many people need to know if this amp runs at 1ohm because with box rise most people want to wire lower then need to compensate. Either way thank you very much for doing these videos.
i like rockville but good luck returning them if something happens ever to them. I had a rxd-m4 was a damn nice amp but i had 2 caps just self destruct. I called and they wanted to inform me i was the first ever to have an issue but was a lie cause other on the car audio page was experiencing same issues. After trying to return it for 2 days under a 30 day warranty, they said best they could do was make me pay a 20% restocking fee and charge me for the shipping and id get what's left. I was furious and i was going to be out 74 bucks!! Took it to a buddy he fixed it for me then worked fine till i sold it. Don't mount these on box's either the caps will vibrate off as well. Not from experience but from others i have seen lol but other then the issue i had i bought 2 more and never had the same issues.
I have a 2ohm kicker 12" compRT 500rms and was wondering what amp can be used to wire 4ohm as I can't find any 1ohm amps that aren't 1200w plus? I was wondering if Rockville db12 or db13 2ohm amps would work wired to 4ohm load? Please help thanks in advance
Currently running a Db15 with a power accoustic bamf-154 and love it. Just ordered a second to strap. Planning on ordering a db45 for 6x9s and 6.5s but would like to see a dyno. Any idea on when you'll be dynoing the DB45?
Looking to get good low bass for my truck. F150 extra cab. What is a good combo using a single 12" woofer? Also looking for highs and miss to get a good all around sound. Any suggestions?
Help me please. I have the mtx terminator 12s package. Nothing special but I'm almost positive they are under powered with the terminator 250 watt amp that came with it. Would the Skar 750 push them good. They are wired at 2Ω at the end. Thanks in advanced for the help.
When are you going to be doing the db45 i have the db16 and planning on buying the db45 next week and would really like to know how it performs on the dyno
hey i have a reg cab colorado with just a single 12" pioneer 500rms dvc 4ohm and had to temporary put a dual 522 and its horrible no power...what would be a good 500rms or more for $100??
I have the db12, note you have to run a separate ground as in any audio application the ground is MOST important. When I had the db12 grounded with a splitter it would go into protect. I'm absolutely loving Rockville
I got all my power and ground and everything hooked up right but, I'm not registering power to the amp, why is that? It's brand new just out of the box
I forget but is that a single Chanel with two outputs or a dual channel? My sub shop said two channels but I think that confusion is what led me to miss wire and blow my first sub. On subs 3 and 4 now that I learned my lesson’s
Hey Ryan I know this doesn't pertain to this video. I have a chance to pick up a Rockford Fosgate T 1500.1BD in like new condition. I have the opportunity to pick it up for $175. Is that a good price for that amp?
when will the db 45 be tested? I just got one my self and did a bench test with four ds18 6,5 mids and 4 tw820s and it fucking screamed and sounded amazing for a 119 4ch!!!
Hey blank can you do a couple 1.33 ohm tests sometime? Different higher powered amp please. Some people run dual 2 ohm speakers in sets of 3 at 1.33 Ohms. I would really like to see what my Wolfram 4.5 K does at 1.33. would like to see what my Orion XTR 2500.1dz does also. Thank you
I almost bought one of these just to play around with.. I'm actually looking for a nice 4ch amp, any suggestions? gm-8604 is my 1st Choice but I don't like the angled power inputs, that's my only beef.. any 2nd choice I should think about? I'm ready to pull the trigger right now.. 8604 is on rollback at Walmart. com $121 I believe, free shipping to store pickup
Another Great video, sir.. good power but no need to out blowed up ## on the boxes and what's the deal with the three different ratings.. Rockville is decent for the $$ .. great review, this is a good deal.. Question is, how would this compare to the Ignite amp you just tested?
