I think microphone boom arms are a great investment to any desk setup. And you don't have to spend a whole lot to get a decent one. Or you could... Like I just did.

Jesus Christ saved my life he can save yours to. No body is perfect except Jesus Christ. So he was the perfect sacrifice for the world and he became that sacrifice. So that we can be perfect in God’s eyes all we need to do is. Repent from our sinful wicked ways and surrender our life’s to him. Jesus Christ. Repent meaning acknowledge and forsake your sins. Know you have sinned and know you are not good in God’s eyes. Forsake meaning as in try your absolute best to not sin. We have to be clean and filled with the Holy Spirit. Jesus Christ said we must be born again to enter The Kingdom of Heaven. God bless you all. I love you all may you all find Jesus Christ as your Lord Savior . God bless brothas and sisters ❤❤! Great video, I have something to say about the 69$ boom arm tho. I was using this exact model but with another branding on it for the last like 2 years and I loved it... untill the metal cable inside the arm snapped and made the arm completely unusable. When I went back to the amazon page to see if anybody else had these problems it seems that I was pretty lucky that the metal cable didn't break earlier. So I wouldn't recommend this to anyone. I feel more comfortable having a cheap springloaded arm where I could even change out the springs if they ever show signs of wear.

Rode also have the PSA1+ these days which is an improved model but very similar. It's able to do VERY light mics (95g+) but also supports heavy ones. It does cost some more and the original is still good. Just FYI for everyone.

The best value would be Samsons boom arms. I just recently got the 48 inch one. The build quality is on par with the PSA1. The best part is the overall value considering the price. If you have a huge desk and need to run your mic over a wall of monitors, give their 48 inch one a look.

The $14.00 Neewer Boom Arm can be easily strengthened with slightly stronger springs, or adding an additional spring, and maybe some better screws if needed. (I enjoy improving good products to make them better). I have 3 of them. One is supporting a double set of SM-58 mics on a 7" cross bar, and when extended, it supports them just fine after a slight modification. For the money the Neewer Boom arm works just fine for my set ups.

The neewer arm is alright. Hard to complain for $14. It's much noisier than the premium options and the rotation is a bit janky. But its light springs actually work better for light dynamic mics, such as sm58. I upgraded to the Rode arm and it's much better with heavier mics.

I've had that Neewer arm for 5 years, and it's still going! Now using an Aston Spirit on it. BUT, it's a nightmare to use. Makes loud clanky noises, and mics with a shock mount will 'droop' very easily. Thanks for the comparison!

ive had the same mic arm for less than a month and its already broken. The bottom part that slots into the clamp cant support the weight of the neewer nw7000 that I use with the mic arm and because of that the metal at that part bends under the weight and after i bent it back into place a few times the metal split and now if i bend it back too far the metal will completely rip off. Also the thing that tightens the shock mount is broken and constantly untightens if i even slightly nudge the mic
@adamgreenhill110
@adamgreenhill110 2 года назад
@@Radicaldude Wow. Mine isn't by Neewer, but it's an identical model. The QC is probably awful. Mine loosened over time, the metal mic screw turns infinitely/doesn't tighten fully, and it droops easily. I got the $40 option and it's fantastic. Holds my heavy Aston Spirit, grips the desk well, very stable and easy to position the mic anywhere. And no loud springs :)

I personally recommend the 14 dollar stand for anyone who has a temporary setup. I have a samson q9u, a decently heavy mic, and the stand is handling the mic pretty well(had it for over 2 years). The reason why is bc I know at any moment I need to move to new house to live in, so I don't want to bring a stand with me everywhere i go. So the 14 dollar stand is literally good enough to hold my mic and if I move to a new place, I won't feel too bad to throw it away or give it away. And if I move to a new place I can just buy a better stand or buy the same stand base on how long I know I'm staying at the new place.

About the Blue Compass. If the microphone you use is within the weight range of the arm, you can adjust the spring inside to handle it _(the spring is adjust with a screw inside the part that goes into the base),_ so you don't need to tighten the joints when you move it into position. Just move it around as you wish, _(except for completely collapsed or completely extended so it's flat or straight),_ and it will stay where you leave it. I've used mine since 2019 and the spring system works just like it did when I got it, and I move it around several times a day.

I sometimes use the blue compass for streaming dj sets, and i have to say, its terrible or anything that isnt a mic mounted to it. The adjustments dont hold well unless theres weight on it, and one of them just straight up broke on me today. Gonna try the gator to see if itll be better for my needs.

I've watched a whole load of these comparison videos now and not one has addressed the single most important factor for me! How well does the boom arm isolate against mechanical noise transmission from the desk? I tried the Neewer and my mic was picking up my keyboard, mouse clicks and even my arm resting on the desk! I'd like reviewers to cover this aspect. I want a boom arm, and don't mind paying for one that works, but I can't afford to pay over a hundred bucks if it has the same problem!

When I was looking for my first boom arm I was looking for one without springs can hold up the blue yeti up to the maybe the sm7b and then look for one that was smaller than the average boom arm as I'm actually using a small table as my actual desk isn't useable which is what the Samson 28 boom arm does for me. Not only is it steady it can hold up not only the isolation shield but also the blue yeti which is impressive for a 45 dollar boom arm.

Some good ones I've seen around Amazon Donner Boom Arm $55 (Reviews are hit or miss but it seems solid at a glance, for the price!) Samson MBA38 $41 to 50 bucks. A competitor to the Rode Boom arm. Only holds up to around 2.5kg though. That's the thing. Rode can hold 4.4 but again. It's double or more than double the price. Elgato High/Low Profile boom arm. $100. This one is really unique because it has a "Riser" which can elevates the arm by another 150 mm / 5.9 inches so for some people, they will attach that and can put it over their monitor from the back of the desk.

Do you know of an adapter that will convert that "pin" to a std 1/4" or 3/8" threaded post? Or even a 5/8" baby pin fitting? ive had a total of 3 or 4 mic arms in total. idk what brands, or what kind they were, but ik two of them were the same brand, and the last one that i still have is a good bit more expensive, but not over 50 or 60 bucks. i had one where the metal part straight up snapped at the part that slots into the table clamp. then, the two that were the same kind both snapped at the base where the mic arm slots in, and the last one i bought ive had for well over a year and never had a single problem with it.

I used to use one, they I realized that it just takes up space and isn't really needed. All you need is a mic stand. Boom arms are more for people that are don't podcasts, professional audio, and so on. But even then, a lot of them don't use them anymore because they don't really do much. And, if you don't have a desk with open sides, you can't even use 90% of them. You have to drill a hole in your desk to use it. I found no difference from using the regular stand and a boom arm. I use a "dead cat" wind filter for my fan, an a shock mount on the simple tripod stand. It works great and is out of the way. I can move it to the side of me and and works just fine.

One bit of advice - whatever you get, don’t get the blue compass boom arm. The built quality is not on par with the price tag and the tension is just too much for sm7b even making it very hard to adjust or requiring you to put more weight on it. And if you try to tighten the joints you will break them.
@maxgraham2030

Can you suggest one with the smoothest extension and retraction? I only use the mic in short periods every day or two then I want it out of the way. So looking for something that will do that smoothly without having to tighten and loosen the joints manually which is tedious. Thanks :)

I made the mistake of going cheap at first, thinking, like, it doesn't affect the audio, but... it can still break. Røde worked well.

Lower case 'i', upper case everything else? CAPSLOCK strikes again! Very relatable. (Not mocking you, laughing because we've all been there)

the $14 arm cost $3 in my place lmao, i just bought 2, one for me and one for my brother, im using it to hold up the Maono Pm461TR RGB, which is quite light and not heavy at all but it does the job and it's pretty cheap, i recommend running both of them

Thanks for the video, Question: can you put the Melon Audio Boom Arm in a (near) 180 degrees in upright position? I am looking for a desk mic stand that I can use while seating or while standing besides the desk. Cheers!

Hi Edward, What arm do you recommend for the Neumann Tlm102 and do you recommend using the shock mount also? Your videos are great, really practical and well shot. Thank you 🙏

Hi Kim, Thanks for watching!! I would go for the the gator frameworks arm. It’s a good investment. I would also get the shock mount 💪🏻

Just one question, do those without springs need to be tightened every time you move them, or there is a mechanism that allows you to move it around freely without need to screw it every time?

bruh all I want is a mic arm that allows for 360 degree movement on the end joint. That would make my life so much easier.... One that bendsand twists 360 degrees on that final joint

one of the major limitations to mic boom arms are there are types of desk that will not for clops. the desk with very thin to no trim on the side and back. this usually with desk with a hutch and another down factors is that most clamp are vertical. so, you don't have a anywhere to clamp it vertically. you're screwed.

4:20 Seems all the ones with Cable management built in aren't going to cost less than $50 then. I found one called the Donner Boom arm and it was $55 yesterday. Today it's $56 (Thanks Joe B.) Lmao. It looks a lot like the Blue Yeti compass boom arm.

I've had a 20$ boom arm for nearly 4 years now. The metal is corroding, but it hasn't broken yet.

Have a question about the rode podmic, does it require a cloudlifter, or will a Behringer UMC204Hd be enough. Or is there another mic In the same price range you might suggest to pair with the bringer( looking some something budget orientated without shortchanged things too much so to speak)

Was yours creaky? Mine came out of the box pretty creaky and I ordered a new clamp because the creaking for me might come from either there or from the middle area.

I have a support bar running along the bottom of my desk near the edge that's a little bit less than 1 inch wide, do you think a mic arm would stay secure on the support bar?
