We bought a self setting fishing rod from the wish app. This fishing rod has a spring in the middle and acts as an automatic hook setter. Simple set the trap and wait for a fish to be on your fishing rod! So easy. Let me show you how it works.
We are fresh water fishing here in West Virginia's "Guyses Run Fishing Park", this place is loaded with catfish, hybrid striped bass, largemouth bass, bluegill and small mouth bass. It is a great day to be targeting catfish! We are using the Senko Skipper Squidy Bits dyed with hot pink bait dye.

Not every fisherman is there for the recreational sport of it. Casuals, socially drinking nearby or people that survive night to night on their daily catch by the river's edge would probably be interested though if it's a really good design.

Brandon Matthew if your surviving day by day on your daily catch I’d suggest not using this rod then. Why take the chance of missing food on a gimmick? They will hook themselves in a set and forget atmosphere. At the most he would need a .50 cent bell and if the food was that important I doubt he is walking away from the pole itself. You would definitely lose more fish with an automatic set like this.(a lot of bottom feeders will “dry bite” or “drive by” and test the edge of a meal before coming back and inhaling. If the rod sets during that initial testing you will deter him from taking the full bite) If food is your priority then I would not buy this.

I use circle hooks, no need to set the hook. just reel slack line and proceed to reel in the fish. circle hooks automatically hook fish in the corner of the fishes mouth..

circle hooks are the way to go. setting the hook with other hooks just gives you more of a chance of ripping the bait from the fishes mouth.

circle hooks doesnt always fit the fish mouth. sometime you just want to catch all size. i used smaller hooks most of the time and able to catch bigger fish with it. circle hook when the fish swallow, there's no way to get it out. i hate to cut the line off or rip their throat out.

This isnt for a want to be outdoors man. In america practically nobody fishes to eat but its very common in asia to NEED to fish to eat. A pole like this allows them to do something else nearby while getting food for the day.

Thats pretty neat. Obviously wouldnt trust it to set all bites but it seems perfect to reduce the chance of losing a fish until you set it yourself

I just got the same rod, I *think* it's the same one, anyway. I bought it on eBay, and it arrived today. "Weiting" brand, so I'll be "Weiting" to see if I catch a catfish. Thanks for this vid including instructions! No instructions came with my "Weiting" rod. ( o ;

It should come with multiple springs with different strengths. So u can adjust how hard it sets based on the size fish you're catching. Maybe we can buy our own springs st a hardware store or somewhere online. I will probably buy a few of these rods for family fishing trips with the kids, perfect for us to set them and not have to keep an eye on them all the time

You miss the purpose of fishing if you do that who wants to go fishing and not learn how to catch the fish you're supposed to be a fisherman or fishing woman so you wait for the bite and then you set the hook this is a lazy way of learning how to fish

what you need to do is go spend a few dollars on a better spring.. its cheap enough that putting a better spring on it is still cheap. but will improve it a lot.. I know they make higher end ones..i seen some vid cant remember but they were going after big fish in ocean that have a super light bite and basically those poles helped them catch some of the big ones. though they also missed a few bites also.. and im sure his poles were very high end.. when they set hook they went straight up fast you could tell those things were machined nicely.. but ya change the spring. im sure you could also just make something similar that you plant into the ground and then you clamp in any pole you have. and can do the same thing.. in California we can pay for 2 pole license but that's it.. sometimes I throw a weightless for largemouth and then ill do a drop shot at same time.. this could be handy for that type of fishing also.. since usually I just put the one pole in rocks or something and if I see line move then I grab it.. since I catch and release and not really in tournaments ect.. I just use circle hooks.. then you don't really have to worry about setting the hook.. if the fish get the hook in its mouth usually it sets In the corner. get less throat hooks ect.

People love the Jaw Jacker for ice fishing and that's the same kind of concept so I don't see a problem with it. Or a tip-up you walk away from. Very cool video man! You still need to set the hook harder yourself and reel the fish in to complete the catch. It's pretty cool.

I think the rod sets the hook so fast that the fish hasn't had time to really eat the bait, although I think you'd have a better hook up ratio with a softer bait, like worms or hot dogs. Love you guys and thanks for all you do for the fishing world.

I love fishing bro is my favorite drug i find it so relaxing and fun with the family, and i do have a trick that it works as that rod , what i do is i put the rod in a angle that created force up and or to the sides it works 99% i get a strike and it will set the hook hard you will get any size of fish not the little ones they need to be big enough.

The more common version in the states is the spring loaded reel you attach to a tree or pole. They're designed to automatically reel in the fish when it takes the bait and releases the spring catch. There is nothing sporting about them; they are solely for gathering food in a set it and forget it style.

With Catfish setting the hook isn't really a problem but I could see this useful for other types of fish if you don't want to sit there and hold your pole all day.. I personally like fishing the old fashion way

I'm wondering if you could change out the cheap rod for a nicer one and just keep the mechanism. Maybe upgrade the spring to set harder also. So much you could do with it.
