$150 Icon - Seagull 1963 Chrono from China. Red Star Original and Mysterious Code Titanium! 

I own two of these. A 40mm Chrono Heritage M1963/X - SEA-GULL ST1901 bought directly from Sugess Watch in China and a 40mm limited edition Red Star bronze Seagull 1963 that came from the official Seagull 1963 store in Belgium. The Seagull is a watch that is hard to fault and I‘m quite fond of both of mine but my customer experience with both companies was hardly satisfactory. In sum I was swindled twice. The Sugess was supposed to come with the Swan Neck movement but didn‘t and unfortunately too much time had elapsed before I found out for me to be able to do anything about it. As for the Belgian Seagull 1963, it was only after I had received it that I found out that they do not individually number their limited edition watches (instead all 300 are numbered 1/300) and that it was missing it‘s tag, manual and registration QR code. It was also shipped about two months past it‘s preassigned shipping date. The company in Belgium casually dismissed my concerns and when I asked to return it they informed me that the 14 day return policy had expired. Be very careful who you buy from. The Seagull 1963 company in Belgium seems rotten to the core. I wouldn’t deal with them again if they paid me. BEWARE.

This is a watch that looks so much better in the flesh, on camera it didn't move me to buy , until i see my friends 63 and of course fell in love with that dial that pops with those gold markers and the blue hands really do go with the look of this little beauty.

I picked one up off of eBay a few years back, really cool piece but the only thing I wasn't crazy about is the polished case. They just came out w/ a bronze model that I ordered. WAY more expensive but I like the watch so much I know I'll love it in bronze and how it will patina.

My Chinese wife kept telling me about the one watch brand that has been super famous in China for years - the "Hai-O". Only later did I find out that the translation is Seagull. I wonder if it's part of the same company that made the Seagull SLR camera that I once used back in school in the 80s (essentially a license-built Minolta design). I'm looking to get the 42mm one as I have a soft spot for large-dialed field watches. Although based on the same design, Seagull itself doesn't make it this large - Sugess does.

The movement for the price is a bargain for a chronograph. The champagne dial and different colored hands makes this watch distinguishable. Nice piece.

I have had a 38mm with Sapphire on a Rios strap for 5 years now. I love it . Great dress watch.

I absolutely love my little 38mm, I put mine on a beautiful green leather strap because the watch came on a dreadful NATO, but easily swapped over and now it looks awesome

Proud owner of a HKED black/gold 1963 here. I always show the column wheel chrono movement to friends when it's on my wrist. It's just too beautiful not to.

Incoming Pedant Alert!! '21 Zuan' on the dial means '21 Jewels'. I've had 2 of the 38mm versions, they're just beautiful - I only parted with them as I found them too small. I was always blown away by how insanely legible those skinny little blue hands are! There's a Seiko VK powered version just appeared on Alix that really has my attention.

I have eyeing this for awhile. I am not big on chronographs , but this has more character than most others. Another great review, best of season to you.

A great introduction for people learning about watches

Got the 42mm w mineral glass from Long Island watches. Champagne dial w mineral looks a little warmer and more classic. On a brown leather strap it’s pretty classy looking plus straps make the reverse more accessible when you show it to your in-laws that don’t care about watches 😅

Well said, swiss-type movement for the masses. I'm not a fan of polished cases, so the mysterious code titanium seems way better, but the brand name 🤦‍♂️. Thanks for sharing!

I had begun wondering why the version on the Seagull website is so much more expensive. But good to know it's the same movement.

The front says "Made in China" (Actually "China Manufacture") the back is hard to catch, but the first part is "China Air Force" on the section you are holding at the bottom inside down at 5:58. I believe the rest refer to "null" / reset, start/time and adjust.

Yours does not have the Gooseneck/Swan neck that you’ve mentioned. It is mounted on the balance top that should be pinching the regulators
