@kristinotto102
@kristinotto102 2 года назад
I was so worried about this before I had my first but you really don’t know until you know. Start with the bare minimum (maybe 7 outfits or so?) and add more per size as needed. Also you don’t know how quickly/slowly your baby will go through sizes, so you might be planning ahead for your baby to wear a certain size in a certain season and that might not be the case at all. You also will probably find certain types of clothes you prefer to dress them in (rompers vs separates vs onesies vs footie pajamas etc). It’s really all just easier to get just what you need to start and buy as you go :)

Literally makes zero sense. If a woman transitioning wants to be male, then why would they get pregnant at all? Lol it goes against the entire logic and train of thought to do something that specifically women can do, when these people want to become men. Makes zero sense unless it's entirely for attention and woke points. It's also scary that this man is a dad and doesn't understand biological differences like that. Love this channel but disappointed you are saying "chestfeeding". Don't let the "inclusive" police get to you. As a breastfeeding mother, to suggest that anyone else can breastfeed is offensive. Women give birth. Women breastfeed. Haters gonna hate.
@ashleynoble2880
@ashleynoble2880 2 года назад
Trans men and nonbinary people with wombs can also give birth. It's not difficult to change a few words in your vocabulary. I use "birthing person" instead of mother because who knows if the person that is pregnant is actually going to be the mother? Maybe they're a surrogate or plan on giving their child up for adoption. It's worth the extra effort to be kind to people, but maybe that's just me.
@sarahhelmers7929
@sarahhelmers7929 2 года назад
@@ashleynoble2880 There's many women out there who preferred to be called "woman" and "mother". Why should they have to give up their preferred language terms for the extremely small percent of the population who are trans and non-binary parents? Why not the other way around? Unfortunately, it's not just about being nice. It's an attack on women.
@ashleynoble2880
@ashleynoble2880 2 года назад
@@sarahhelmers7929 This channel and other channels like it are addressing a large population and should be inclusive. When having conversations between individuals it is perfectly acceptable to say that there is a preference for "mother" or "breast feeding". It would be like referring to a group of people at a presentation as men when there are clearly others present. Using a wider term is just more correct.
@jessatlife
@jessatlife 2 года назад
@@sarahhelmers7929 it’s your personal choice if you want to be called “mother” or “woman.” Just don’t choose for others, and when we are speaking in general terms, it’s fair to use inclusive language. Once you know the individual’s preference, just adjust the language. This harms absolutely no one, on the contrary. People who give birth or breastfeed come in all shapes, sizes, genders, abilities, etc.

I wouldn’t say a bottle warmer was necessary. We just dunked the bottle in a half full jug of boiling water and swirled it around for 30 seconds. Our baby wasn’t fussed about warm milk so eventually we just took milk straight from the fridge. Better to save the money and invest in a formula prep machine (Tomme Tippee prep machine) when you use formula.

I wish you would spend a bit more time researching cloth diapers as a modern option instead of disregarding it entirely because there is not many voices out there directed at dads, and in cloth diaper circles there is a lot of "I want to do cloth diapers but my husband is on the fence/ is grossed out" etc. It is usually the women concerned about environmental impact, while men are usually convinced by the financial aspects of it. We're raising children whose children will die of old age before their disposable diapers decompose...

Exclusively formula fed baby since the get go over here. She goes through a full tin a week at 8 months old, however we were doing a tin a week/week and a half by a month or two. However my kiddo was on the small side and her overall intake has always been on the lower end. Like you said, every kids appetite is so different and if you're combo feeding, then formula will last a lot longer (and an open tin is good for a month).
@dadverb
@dadverb 2 года назад
May I ask how much that costs per month for your scenario? Also, where do you typically get formula and has the Similac recall affected you?
@sb5653
@sb5653 2 года назад
@@dadverb Hopefully this doesn't send twice. Typed out a reply and then I think I accidentally deleted it. I initially bought most of my formula through Costco (Similac Pro Advance, tubs sold via Costco had more total oz than the cylindrical tins elsewhere, so it was a better deal). Each was about $35 and so I'd spend approximately $140 a month. My daughter was given Pro Advance the first week during an ER visit and so we stuck with it. Costco was the most reliable for stock up until the recall (there were formula shortages before that too, so it certainly didn't help). I just burnt through the last of what I had on hand (we always kept a months worth on hand at a time) and haven't been able to find anymore Similac Pro Advance in maybe 4 weeks now. The recall has meant a lot of people choosing to or being forced to switch, which means a lot of formula is out of stock and it's slim pickings. My Targets formula aisle has been nearly empty for months now. Up until this week, my daughter has been on Similac Pro Advance but we're having to switch due to the shortages, I ended up picking up a tub of Kirkland ProCare to try (fingers crossed the transition goes fine). Similac does paper coupons so occasionally I'd get $5-$15 off a transaction depending on what coupons I had. I've heard great things about the Target generics (and that most generics are produced by the same manufacturer, except for Kirkland ProCare which is made by Perrigo), but with the recall, even those generics can be hard to find now. It's certainly expensive and costs can add up (additional bottles, frequent washing/sterilizing, sizing up in nipples, more formula needed as intake goes up, going through different formulas if your child has dietary issues etc).
@dadverb

@R.M.3.14
@R.M.3.14 2 года назад
@@dh5549 It is, covering the basics like in the video and buying with your budget in mind. Infant car seats can be found for under $75 (even under $50 if you can catch a sale or coupon but of course YMMV)-travel systems can be found for $150 or under. Crib, mattress, and bedding under $150 (or skip the crib and get a pack n play instead, which can be $50-$100 for a basic model). Remaining $200-$300 can be used for other needs-diapers and wipes ($20-$60 depending on brand), toiletries (under $10 for lotion and shampoo), grooming kit ($5-$20), NB-3m clothing ($8-$15 for sleepers and onesies from target or walmart), baby carrier ($25-$50), some sort of storage container ($5+ depending what you already have at home and the type of storage you have on your other baby gear like a crib/changer combo or pack n play storage), etc. Where people get caught up is they think more money=better safety or superiority. The baby gear industry is built on peoples insecurities and fear 🤷🏻‍♀ all baby products that are safety tested (cribs, mattress, car seats, etc) all have to pass the same requirements and testing. Spending more money won't guarantee more safety or protection. Car seats for instance-ive tested and touched hundreds of infant car seats over the decade ive had kids. Want to guess how many use the same plastic shell but put a different branded cover and price tag on them?
