to be fair they're talking about people who wear their halloween costume once, whereas when you put effort and money into a cosplay you usually know you're gonna wear it a lot more right?
Budget costume (No Face from spirited away) 1. Black cloak 2. Mask painted to look like his face 3. Now you are ready to give small children nightmares.
Witches are in fact real people that are not just cartoon characters. But most people don’t go accurate towards what we wear science we all don’t wear a specific attire. But the colors are pretty accurate due to the colors black and purple attract good energy so the outfit that she got is somewhat accurate.
Idk why but I just didn’t like the “expensive” pirate costume, I think it was the tops chosen especially the shimmery one and I liked the arm pieces a lot for the cheap one so I guess I just felt like the red over shirt just felt like a downgrade :/
The MOMENT jazz saw herself- the way she lit up like a christmas tree was so visible. Plus size shopping SUCKS and having someone make you look and feel that good is so special
I'm going to go exercise instead of complaining about being fat. No one should be "plus sized" (unless you're super tall), the clothes cost more and its just a testament to the fact that you can't wear normal clothes you have to wear "plus sized". No, I refuse to let my body get like that, its damn hard losing weight with pcos but I will NEVER EVER LET myself become plus sized. Adipose tissue is disgusting.
Lol @Buster. Even if I was at the "healtiest" size I could be. Which is around 180-190. I would still be in "plus sized" clothing. I hope you realize that straight sizes end at size 12. And size 12 in some cases is even considered +. I'd have to starve myself to even get near a 12.
@@keira4346 I mean the online one came closer to it than the expensive version. If you're going to put that much money into it I'd want it to be closer to accurate but then again that's me.
Coming from someone whos a ren faire worker, im dissapointed that the pirate costume is so underdone but so over priced. No corset skirt ive ever seen even better quality then the one she has on is that expensive. Same with the belts and they so completely failed on the shoes part. They couldve had such a better looking costume for the same price.
I know when jaz put on the “cheap” version I was expecting something extravagant for the price but my aunt was the same and payed £7 for everything jaz got but from the charity store
They should done actually cheap like Cloe under 20 dollars, then another mid range for 150 dollars for people who love Halloween and then the high fashion one.
No kidding! As kids, we all pretty much looked sloppy at school party, bc costumes had to be big enuf to get coats & layers underneath for Trick-or-treating!
Jessica Howard exactly! I did a similar pirate costume two years ago with thrifted items and only spent $45. I really didn’t care for the “jacket” it looks like a cardigan sweater from a older lady fashion store
Kill. I was a flapper last year and most of my costume was thrifted, with most of the accessories being from Party City. The accessories accounted for almost half of the entire costume price alone (not including makeup), just because they're new, but the cigarette holder and the boa (both from Party City) were useless by the end of the night. I'd estimate my costume costed $5-$10 more than Jasmine's cheap one, but it looked amazing AND it was accurate to the times. As for the expensive costume, I feel like the only thing there that was better than mine was the turban, but it also was historically inaccurate, even worse than the cheap one in some ways.
jokero08 she’s not obese and You can tell. You can tell that she actually has a lot of muscle on her also and she is also very tall so it matches her height
i mean there's a difference between a cosplay and a costume though :P costumes are honestly meant to be cheaper and just worn for things like halloween. cosplay is meant to be more expensive and detailed and can be reused for several comicons and such
Exactly. But nobody seems to know this. Also, the possibility for being raped is lesser when completely covered (sadly they had to think about that too. Same nowadays though.. :/)
I'm proud I already knew this 😊 also the flapper costumes were inaccurate, if you look at real flapper outfit you would see that they are much longer and way less form fitting, and don't have fringe.
The stylist did an incredible job dressing Nina for her body type. She looks insanely good. She picked an excellent dress for Jazz, too. She clearly took their shapes into mind, which is awesome.
@@lauraberg6272 wait you know what ,yours is a wedding dress so it doesn't matter if it's expensive because you love your husband and it's a special day for you and that might be the cheapest wedddin dress I have known *Just saying ,no hate .it's my opinion*
@@pamela6479 Just thought that money would have bought her something nicer. Just a little disappointed at the stylist pics. I want them to have the best stuff. It wasn't meant to be shade.
@@lauraberg6272 I paid about $200 for my wedding dress, not a flapper dress, but it still looked better than the $300, it was also a older looking dress
Just because it's from the 20s doesn't mean it's supposed to be ultra conservative. Flappers, by definition, threw off what was considered acceptable behavior for young women at the time. They wore short skirts, sleeveless dresses, danced to reproachable music, and kept their hair short in defiance of oppressive feminine roles and expectations. Flappers are sexy, in look and in personality. If someone feels too covered in a flapper dress, than it's a poorly designed flapper dress.
Please actually look into the fashion of the day. The dresses were short to them which means that they are not short to today's standards. They typically hit at mid calf length and only dancers and prostitutes wore dresses that hit at or above the knee. Which given previous fashions was considered liberating. So, given the way that clothes are made and styled today if you are dressing accurately as a flapper you might feel more covered up. Also, it is so annoying that the cheap costumes have fringe on them. No one really wore fringe!!
Gabby DeYoe just because flappers existed in the 20s doesn’t mean everyone was a flapper. For one thing, flappers dresses usually still covered the knee a bit. For another, flappers were basically considered prostitutes. Flappers were by far the minority of women, though aspects of their style did get into the general public (like shorter hair and less shaping in dresses)
@@eileenhall44 The cheap witch costume without accessories was $17. Still, they should either have compared cheap to expensive either with or without accessories for both. They may not have technically lied, but they weren't completely honest either.
I get really annoyed that every time they do one of these videos they go waaaay over the top with prices for the other two but when it comes to Jazz her’s is always the cheapest. It’d be nice if for once they gave her the priciest outfit.
Keebler Studios ikr but it’s kind of unfortunate that like those “expensive brands” dont make plus size clothes that much so the stylist needs to choose probably just middle high price ranged clothes for Jazz. I mean the stylist must not had many choices but still it’s sad that the expensive brands dont make plus size clothes
Gather ‘round, children, to hear some piping hot tea: not one of the “expensive” outfits is worth more than $100 and none of the “cheap” outfits are any working person’s definition of cheap
Silke She actually got her number wrongs for Nina’s high end outfit, check the screen at like 11:44. For the 17 I think they considered Chloe’s outfit without what she added on top to actually make it “good”
they added the accessories and the actual clothing pieces as one, they just showed them as separate prices. ninas outfit and accessories were each 1k+ prices, making her whole outfit 2k+
For how well-made that dress looks, $300 isn't unreasonable. It's a lot to wear it one time, yes, but if you can get multiple wears out of it (and you have the cash to spend), go for it!
Joyce Teal fun fact, it’ll be warm in Southern California and Raining in Northern California on halloween. Like it has been for 10 million years in a row
Are you upset about the price or the outfit itself? Because if you are saying the outfit wasnt worth the price I totally agree. But as far as the actual style goes, I genuinely liked it.
@@polysteveshusbandandboyfri644 & @Soy Bean, right but if you're going to be spending $1500 on a costume, it better be beyond showstopping. One thing that elevates a costume like nothing else is authenticity. Sewstine could use traditional 18th century hand sewing methods to replicate a historically accurate pirate costume for $1500, but here they just added some tacky belts and expensive skull rings and called it good. For the price, it is a terrible pirate costume. For a $30 pirate costume that you compiled from thrift store elements? Great, it gets the job done.
Yeah. These outfits are really lame for the amount of money they're saying they are worth. Like come on. That pirate jacket looks like a cheap blouse sewn to some rags. It's over $1000, give it some detail, add some leather! Same with the witch, it's so bland. When you see movie quality costume, it's all in the detail. These have almost no detail.
@@LCJS_8 I agree those are just some regular clothes, like in my goth fase, the witch costume was my day to day outfit (but without the hat, the cape and the broom) These "costumes" have nothing to do with cosplaying.
The costume itself, (the dress and the hat,) was $17. They were of course going to compare the lowest price with the highest one to show the most contrast, it’s marketing, not clickbait. I’m not trying to tell anyone what to think or trying to change anyone’s opinions, just sharing mine.
What? Are you joking? Is my calculator broken? 30 bucks are 276 kroner in my country And thats like what i pay for a nice lunch everyday?! I would spend at least 40-70 dollars on each clothing item and thats only at h&m nothing fancy
Martine there must be something not converted correctly. While in the US (I’m Canadian by the way) coats/jackets from H&M can be 50-70, most items are 20-30$ USD
Shannon Collins i recently bought a sweater which was 499 = 54 dollars And the really cheap stuff on sale which i go for alot also is 17 dollars, but thats like its winter now and we want to get out all the summer stuff price
I actually know someone who once was gonna be a zombie and wore light grey sweat pants and A matching shirt while doing his bloody makeup, but then the blood failed and spilled over his clothes and stained his face red, so he ended up going as a tampon instead 😂
@@skeetulrich6988 Hers was more authentic I think. The partial corset and many pieces look like you can find on ebay or Amazon in clothes or goth or Victorian. I go to a lot of Rennaisance Fairs and have many costumes pieced together over time. The witch hat is not authentic but just somthing that was made up at some point.
I felt bad for Jazmine when she said “ well my arms are apparently fatter than everyone else’s” She needs to know that she is perfect just the way she is♡︎
@@dejahall3500Her weight is 330lbs (it's in the fitness makeover video she did with Michelle. *That puts her bmi at 46!!* Insanely unhealthy! Anything over 30 is obese, over 35 is moderate risk and *a bmi over over 40 means you're level 3 HIGH RISK.* Her healthy weight range for her age and height is 133lbs - 179lbs - so she's basically double what she should be. We need to stop normalising and celebrating obesity - it's literally killing people and it will kill Jazz eventually if she doesn't change her habits. It might be easy now while she's young, but she is going to suffer, badly. If she lost weight it could seriously inspire some subscribers to get healthy and avoid future health complications.
@@Hazeydaze92 while thats true, fatshaming its unaceptable and people should be able to love them selfs Whatever size. You can't make people be healthy, its a choice not a obligation.
Look guys as a bigger girl myself I’m telling you this. You need to STOP using the words “unhealthy and obese” nobody wants to hear that especially when she is willingly putting this type of content on the internet where she shows off her body. She loves her body, and she should I can guarantee that if you were the same size as her you would feel terrible about people like you in the comments saying that she is unhealthy. That just makes me sad. If someone said this to me I would break down because I extremely self conscious about my body and just now starting to learn to love it, I don’t have to change my shape for rude and selfish people like you and neither does Jazz
Cyanide Eyes Same girl, Same! But there is a difference. A Halloween costume you wear only once or twice and we, as cosplayers, wear our outfit A LOT. But that doesn’t mean I don’t relate.
Okay I'm hella impressed with all the stylist costumes! After each girl came out I was like "nothing can top this one" but they all were soooo good looking!
$50 is pretty cheap for a costume depending on what you are also Nina wanted accessories so it costed more also plus size things are always marked up which is unfair.
"you're gonna find that a lot of flapper dresses that are very long" yea..... lmao bc 1920's dresses weren't above the knee.... they were covering the knee...
Literally! My Halloween costume is just a selection of clothes from my wardrobe and a modern/honestly really cool witches hat I made myself with maybe $4 worth of felt!
The expensive costumes were just regular clothes... but when they were buying the cheap costumes they were saying they didn’t want the costumes to look like they were trying to make regular outfits into costumes. If you looked at the prices of the pieces that made the expensive outfits “costumes”, they were all under $20. This video was basically just “look at how many expensive items we can put on at once”. I was expecting intricate cosplay costumes, or costumes from a professional costumer. Buzzfeed’s inconsistency strikes again.
Jazz flapper dresses are shapeless. They aren't meant to show curves. All those costumes are historically inaccurate, but at least they got shape correct.
Crystal Ling I was a garbage can once. It had a built-in trash can, and I went around my neighborhood in it and picked up all those little plastic candy wrappers, bc they are bad for the environment. DUH. (This year I’m going to be Billie Eilish.)
I don't think she was done dirty at all. Yes, her designer costume was the least expensive of the three, but I thought it was the most beautiful. With Nina's costume, get rid of the $600 belt (that doesn't even go with the costume, imo), and her outfit cost about the same as Jazzmyne's.
Jazzmyne's costume was beautiful and had so many gorgeous accessories! The turban, the sparkly tights, the purse...She even had a cute blond 1920s style wig!! I thought she looked the best. The stylist took her body type, complexion and hair color into account and created a flattering look. Just because it cost less than the other costumes doesn't mean she was somehow "done dirty"
I swear to god jazzmyne’s entire personality revolves around being plus size. I’m fat too but that doesn’t mean I need to go around complaining about clothes shopping and sizes.
Jazz the flapper costume was amazing on you!!! Maybe try finding a higher quality/ but still good value dress and headpiece. The boa didnt bother me! And I... oop! Just got to the high end flapper dress!!!! Omg! Worth every penny! Hahaha
@@brizagranadeno no because the main features of the fashion of that period are kinda lost. Like the length of the hem (it was mostly bellow the knees and above the ankles), the fit of the dress (they were actually very loose because the goal was to have the most flat figure possible). The shoes are off too because heels were not that tall or thin and the shape of the shoe was round, something like professional salsa dancing shoes, and other things like the turbant. But because its a costume I understand that it will not be accurate
