I'm glad that you don't try to actively wreck or break the vehicles you try out. It gives me better information on how the truck runs and for me, deliberately wrecking a cool r/c truck just isn't entertaining.
Back in 1987, an airborne Tamiya Blackfoot to the noggen left me in a coma. 37 years later, I'm awake, and while everything else has gotten weird, I'm glad that Ramblin' Ron is alive and well, now driving the Arrma. The spirit of bashing is alive and well. I'm gonna make up for lost time, blasting, with my Gorgon. I'll be the guy in a helmet.
These things are stupidly tough, I'm not a monster truck guy but after driving a couple of friends gorgons and seeing the sheer abuse they just brush off, I'm sold 👌 they're also absolute animals with a brushless. If you're on the fence about buying one, just do it, you will NOT be disappointed.
I love this platform. The Kit version is perfect for newbies. It will help build their confidence as far as tinkering on the RC. Great truck at a great price!
The chassis design reminds me of the original Arrma 2WD vehicles they had when the company first started out. Looks pretty nice for a beginner vehicle.
Thanks so much bud! Solid rig for sure. Going to hand these over to my boys to drive and I won’t have to worry about what happens to them. It’ll handle a lot.
I bought the kit version, and it went together super quick. partially assembled, so i did not have to build shocks, or the differential. 2 packs through it so far and nothing has broken, it seems tough and is fun to drive. The diff could use thicker fluid, and the front shocks could use an extra spacer i think.
I bought two after watching this video. One for the kids…and one for me. Just took mine out for a short spin (RTA black) on a 2S Lipo at half-speed to break-in the motor. This thing is AMAZING for the money.
I am an advanced rc enthisiest, and even i am considering getting one of these🤣. I am relly digging the black one, and for the price, you cant beat it!
There really should be more incentive for the kit version. $10-$20 savings, or upgraded shocks/steering/a arms. I get the premise , but this only appeals to like 5% of buyers who are buying for a beginner and are making them assemble. They will still learn with the RTR as they upgrade and break it.
Great review as always . I'm a bit old school so I would recommend first timers get the kit . The 1 hr build is not a long and you become more familiar and BOND with it before driving . Even if you are not mechanically inclined , if you want to do RC you will have to be at least a little bit and this is the best way . I like the new chassis design to more pure monster truck look . We needed it , Proof being . I did a Grave Digger conversion to my Arrma Big Rock .
Gorgans very fun truck .Handles pretty well even in dirt for rear wheel drive. On nimh stock does 25mph on 2s does 26mph . It jumps well too. Only gripe is battery compartment a bit cramped and hard to connect and put battery in and the bodys kinda thin
Absolutely, even though it’s partially assembled, it still allows people to get their feet wet with building. This will be perfect for this year’s holidays.
Looks like a great intro or beginner truck at a good price. My son always wanted to use my rigs, but some parts are hard to come by and he breaks everything. This seems like a good solution.
The Arrma ARA320613 wheelie bar fits the Gorgon. Those extra holes along the top of the chassis, I think they might be there for a future caged style buggy ?
You did an excellent review. The truck looks great and performs very well. It seems to jump well most of the time. I have ordered one. The one criticism I saw in two other reviews is the charger that's included. It takes hours to charge the NIMH battery. That would be a big disappointment on Christmas morning. There are cheap chargers out there. I've only seen one reviewer who broke anything and that was the servo saver, and it's different from other Arrma servo savers. I think this will be a big seller.
Great review! I ordered the kit version last Friday because I really want the black one. Then, went to my local hobby shop Sunday and they had them in stock. Sooooo, I bought the RTR Green and yellow one 😂 I bought a better charger and upgraded to a 2s lipo. Other than that I just bought and installed a cooling fan. My hobby shop kept insisting I didn’t need it, but I’m super cautious and bought it anyway and glad I did. Ran the first few times with the cooling fan. Then figured maybe I was losing battery time with the fan plugged in. So I unplugged the fan to see if my battery lasted longer. After just 10-15 minutes into my bash I picked it up to clean leaves and pine needles out of the rear arms and shocks area and my pinky finger touched the bottom edge of the motor and I burned my finger! Plugged the cooling fan back in and within 30-45 seconds the motor was cool to the touch again! I’m glad I didn’t listen to the hobby shop guys and still bought the cooling fan! I won’t be running it without the fan again! 😂 I love this thing. Instantly my favorite RC I own now. And I’m not a beginner, I’ve been in the hobby on and off about 40 years now! Arrma built one heck of a truck I believe everyone will love! From first time hobbyists to grisled old veterans like me. 😂 Thank you Arrma for giving us something SO fun and retro looking and feeling. This thing is cheap, stable, durable, reliable, and a ton of fun to drive. I have a traxxas XRT that sits on the shelf now in favor of the Gorgon! Can’t wait for my RTA kit to arrive in a few days, then I’ll have 2 of these awesome bad boys! Keep these awesome videos coming, brother! 🤘🏼
I will admit that I have never been an Arrma or Traxxas fan due to their pricing for what you get. Yeah, I am a cheap China Junk RC guy. However this truck has hooked me. I believe, I will give it a try. Great review
Great looking truck, very nice for beginners, RYR or kit. Guess the benefit of no foams is getting the water out on those wet runs. Out of curiosity, does it say how long the battery takes to charge with the out of box USB setup? Thanks Greg!
Oh yeah, got the water out of the tires super quick lol! Unfortunately a little under 3hrs with the included charger. But it technically gets ya going.
@@rcdriver My son is already stuck on my Maxx v2, drives it great after learning on the Rustler. If this came out before all that, it would have been perfect. Especially the kit to get him learning. Somehow I fix everything, haha. I'll pass this to my buddies with younger kids. Thank you!
Yeah, maybe a lockout plate would have been cool. But that was a hard hit and after cranking down on the screws it didn’t happen again. And there were a ton of lawn darts at the dirt lot. 😀
Best intro video on the Gorgon by far on RU-vid, very informative and well described as far as what the truck has to offer, the breakdown, the features and the different model types that are available, you always described in depth about the models you are showcasing for the first time . I switched all my electrics to the Traxxas Nitro model line , but the Gorgon has a lot to offer for the price points !
Arrma did a good job beefing up their gears , it’s nice they did that, most companies use a lesser grade material so in time you have your upgrade your gear. 👍
Little hello from France, wanting to start at 63 yens Old , I ended up ordering a black rta despite being a poor handyman, but I read a lot that it was better to know a little how it's done Worried about the construction, I'm waiting for your editing help video Thank you for the advice and videos, this Gorgon seems a good choice finally
Thank you very much for sharing all this information on the Arrma Gorgon. I'm hoping to run one of these on the homemade outdoor RC car race track that my dad and I plan to build after we move to the new house. We're trying to decide if we want to build a dirt oval track or a concrete Nascar style oval track. Personally, I am hoping to build both as well an RC Monster Truck dirt freestyle arena. We're going out to the new place sometime tomorrow to have a look at some areas of the property where we can build the RC car track. If all goes well in the near future we may have our very own backyard homemade RC car racing park. I can't wait to get the Arrma Gorgon and build our first RC car race track. I have big plans for it.
Fantastic video. Very informative. I wish it was 4wd. And the red was a kit so i could do with my daughter. But i think i might get the red one for her.
I’ve had more fun with a 2wd stampede than I have any other rc truck, but it requires a lot of ROM upgrades to be durable, and I’d like something with a more mid-mounted motor. And also screw traxxas. This one looks like a hopeful replacement, but it’s gotta be able to withstand a brushless setup and some serious beating.
Big fan of your channel. May I ask the reference for your plastic kicker? I am looking for some light bashing but everything I find for jumps is so expensive.
Something so cool about a 2wd MT, especially a brushless one.. Thought these trucks looked awesome but didnt want one...Now I might get one for my son and I.. lol
For what you’re getting with these, there’s lots of value for the price. Sure the charger is slow, but it is there for the total entry level guy to get going.
Amazing what you get for the money! A proper 1:10 scale machine that is rugged, with decent performance, looks good and seems to be built to a high-quality standard. On top of that it is readily upgradeable, but it still looks like great fun exactly as it comes.
Lets try different tiers ....i believe they are 14mm hex. That means BigRock, granite and probably they coolest senton wheels should be awesome to try out
I got one for my son the other day and some cheap lipo 5AH batteries but for got the adapter but my only complaint is that the factory batter will only run for 5 mins if that before it is dead. I didnt expect to much out of it but it is really pathetic to be honest. the total 15 mins that it has ran has been fun though. anyone else noticed this?
The gear and chassis design is similar to the voltage. But everything is actually completely different. I can do more with this . With the slipper clutch, better axles and rear carrier design. This should work way better brushless then the voltage.
Glad that I wasn't the only one that saw this was a refresh of the previous Voltage model. Good call out! This is ARRMA's "Stampede" ... but better. That pains me to say because I do love my Stampede, but it has to be said: Traxxas is slacking and showing no love to their best 2WD legacy model. It sorely needs an update and they could certainly learn a great many things to ARRMA's approach with the Gorgon.
Very good video liked that you showed it stock and brushless! Ive never done a car brushless. Thinking of buying a gorgon and make it brushless. What parts would i need? Do you have any to recommend which is also waterproof? :)
I have a list in the video description. The only thing is I don’t believe the receiver I have listed is waterproof. The BL combo is. The BL listed there is what I wanted to try but couldn’t get it in time. should be the easiest drop in with the IC3 connector and 1/8 motor shaft. Although you can go bigger on the pinion.
Great review. I just don't see any reason to spend the same on a kit when the RTR is... well... RTR. I thought a kit would be cool because yeah you do learn but I'm not paying that extra for that when it shoudl cost less than the RTR.
Hi. I just pre-ordered the Gorgon, and wanted to know the size of the battery compartment; Would you be able to give me the measurements please. Thanks mate. Jack
I’ll give them this: the plastic gears do look way more durable than the garbage they gave us in the blx85 trucks. Still wouldn’t feel comfortable with a 3s in it but it could probably handle a decent brushless system on 2s.
With the included USB charger and your own 20W power adapter, they say under 3hr. Kinda a long charge time for many people. They have some inexpensive charger options that will cut that time down to under an hour.
the suspension arms F/R are the same parts for arrma fury, raider, raider xl, vorteks(original st) fazon, voltage and the 2wd granite... rpm makes these arms too ...
I love your content ! By my experiences in the hobby i can tell a genuin review and yours are always on point. Shame you lost your bash spot hopefully you find another soon
