Very cool deal, If I have that cash, I'll buy that YJM Strat with a "free" 1983" Ferrari 308 GTS? Why?? Here's a few good reasons. 1) Reverb is full of way overpriced guitars that are more expensive than that. (ex. Gibson LP Gold Top 1957 at $192,773 and Fender Strat ReVised at $384, 294.84) those guitar looks worn and brittle, and they are owned by nobodies, yet they have the guts to sell a 2nd hand guitar for that price.🤭 Also most $2,000 plus guitars at Sweetwater plays and looks better than those guitars sold by scalpers. 2) You are buying a bundle of two iconic vintage items (Strat) and (Ferarri) that are both collectors edition and will someday be museum artifacts which are priceless.👌 3) It is owned by a living legend, the shred king himself, Yngwie J. Malmsteen.🤘

If I remember correctly. The car was also in the movie Rockstar. On the directors commentary, they said it was the car used for Magnum P.I. They said that the car barely ran and it only had 2nd gear. I doubt they fixed everything that was wrong with the car. I didn't read anything about the Transmission being fixed and that was one the biggest problems it had. It probably would cost more to fix the car than what the car would be worth. He's just passing the problem on to somebody else. I guess if you have the money to pay that price for the guitar, you probably have the money to fix the car.

A 308 or 328 is a 60-100k car so you’re paying about 75k for the strat

I remember sitting in my college library in the mid-90s, reading an article in American Cinematographer magazine where Francis Ford Coppola said he envisioned a day where film & video arts were so accessible to everyone that a 12-year old with a camcorder could make a movie without studio backing and sponsors. I'm not sure if RU-vid is what he had in mind, but it seems like that's where we're at. Also, your condo comment exemplifies the real estate motto "location, location, location." In my rustbelt Midwest city, $175k will buy an old but really nice 4000 sqr ft. Home in a nice urban university neighborhood.

The ‘83 308 GTS has a balky transmission & YM’s Strats would be almost unplayable to traditional players.

I can get the same guitar for FAR cheaper by having it custom made by Warmoth, especially when I'm not interested in the car in the first place. In fact, probably cheaper than what Fender themselves usually charge for just the guitar.

I’m not trying to call Yngwie a liar or anything, but unless that Ferrari was altered at some point in its life, it was definitely NOT featured in either “Magnum P.I.” or “National Lampoon’s Vacation.” I’d still like to have it, though! Maybe he meant that TYPE of car was featured. 🤔

As both a massive Yngwie fan and a fan of all 3 programs/films this Ferrari was featured in, this is like a dream to me, it makes my heart ache with both gear-lust and historical reverence ❤️‍🔥💔😫 I think it's actually a great deal overall, and whoever gets this could make an absolutely killer Malmsteen costume for Halloween next month🥰 🎃 🎸

It really needs to be auctioned with that same package, right? That's a good business deal, and the seller is making out better than the buyer. The guitar will list as "sold" for a high price, and the car could be considered a gift. That car, if it's clean, is worth apx 50k at most imo. Was the 308 really used in those movies/shows? The way the article is written doesn't confirm it imo, (which would add value). Either way, if I bought the guitar as an investor it would show that number as the sales price but would be a hard flip in the future. It's a novice collector or fan who takes that offer and buys the guitar. That's a rock star way to pitch it though 😊

I've always found hilarious how insistent he was in being attributed to as Yngwie J. Malmsteen for a while, as if he'd get confused with all the other Yngwie Malmsteens out there. Well, I guess with the J. it makes it sound like it's your real name and that no one would suspect that your real name is Lars Johan Yngve Lannerbäck instead. Well played, Lars. Well played. Not that I can come even close enough to afford it in the first place, but I think the biggest concern past the sticker price that not everyone will consider is the cost of maintenance for that Ferrari. Which is bound to be ungodly. And that's not even factoring in the fact that it seems like he's already asking for double the price of what that Ferrari seems to be going for, from a quick google search that I did just now. Honestly, this sale feels more like Yngwie is just doing some housecleaning (with a large financial bonus) to me than anything else, lol

so why is it if you go to the reverb link and copy the listing title and put it in the a reverb search nothing comes up. without using the link I can't seem to find the listing on reverb. Punch in stratocaster with the price range set to 175,000.... and you get nothing.

It seems he is out of money, an old car and an old guitar it would be one of the worst purchase ever.

This is too expensive for the average musician.

I love my 1982 C3 Corvette's pop-up headlights. Dirty aerodynamics with the light panels up, but the cool factor is undeniable. BTW: I toured the Corvette factory in Bowling Green, KY 2 years in a row back in the early '80's. The first year they were still making the C3's; the next year they had moved on to C4's. BUT.......they had a few C4 "mule" cars way off by themselves on the first tour, and one of them had glassed-in non-pop-up headlights (no photos were allowed). Chevy was playing with a new nose look back then. And by the time the C5's came out, I was New Car Manager at one of the largest volume Corvette dealers on the East Coast. We got to drive/thrash the Alpha, Beta, Pre-Production and early Production C5 ahead of public release back in December 1996. A whole weekend with the brand-new C5's at Homestead Speedway !!!

I used to own a 1988 MAZDA RX-7 with pop-up headlights. The front end looked so cool and smooth with them down, that I did not want to ruin the line of the car with an ugly license plate. So, I never even installed the plate bracket on the front of the car. When the police are pulling one over, they are looking at the rear plate, so they never noticed that I did NOT have a front one! 😂
