Showing the new Marbles MR374 machete. This machete was only around $20, see the link in the text description box for where to pick one up! I sharpened this machete with my Work Sharp.

Can you do a tutorial on how you sharpen large blades with a worksharp

One question WAJK. Why would someone get an expensive sword if we can get this performance from such a cheap item?
@WeAllJuggleKnives
@WeAllJuggleKnives 8 лет назад
+PowerMadHeadBanger The sword would be a bit heavier, thicker, more rigid, but it is true that it's not strictly needed for just messing around in the yard

Im sorry if this is a bad question, but how do you manage to cut through the bottles? when i try the same thing with my katana most of the time they just fly away.
@WeAllJuggleKnives
@WeAllJuggleKnives 8 лет назад
+mackan6851 It's a good question, most people have never tried it, so they don't realize it's hard. In order to cut them and leave the bottom standing, the blade has to be moving extremely fast. Also, it depends what kind of blade you are using. Most people who use a katana to cut bottles use an extra light and thin model, so it can be accelerated faster and have less friction through the bottle. Also, holding the katana with two hands tends to limit how fast you can swing it. So basically it is difficult. It's easier to do with a smaller blade, like one of the XL Cold Steel folders, maybe start with one of those to get the hang of it.

Just curious how the steel is. I had one of the Marbles machetes and the steel rolled and pitted after cutting a few tree limbs, but I really want this one, haha.
@WeAllJuggleKnives
@WeAllJuggleKnives 7 лет назад
I think it depends how hard and weathered the wood is, I'm sure I could f*ck up the edge if I tried hard enough LOL
@punchdrunkatheist

Just found that the cutlass uses 1075 carbon steel, and the machete I was using was made with 1035, so I guess the cutlass is a bit hardier anyway. Thanks for the response, going to get, because with the price why not? Edit: Also good cutting style. Your edge is on point!

+WeAllJuggleKnives in Germany they have some models but fakes here are a common day by day.I've seen originals and copies from coldsteel and spyderco you could swear they were the same but materials and in some cases even the shape varies.Sold on Amazon, try comparing a Spyderco from Spain to one from the USA ,just for the laugh.

Wow, I love your machete videos! You not only make them super sharp, but you have loads of skill for the cutting as well. I have to disagree with you on something, though: Machetes are a type of sword indeed, because they developed from the medieval Falchions. Machetes are not as stylish or prestigious as other, more expensive blades, but they are swords anyway. What is the name of that song?
@WeAllJuggleKnives

That Marbles MR374 in this video is very similar to cavalry sabers from the 1860's, which I have seen in some museums. I love how you demonstrate what one of these rough and cheap blades can do, in contrast with some people that claim that only the most expensive swords can cut well. Would you please make a cutting video with a Truper machete?

It is not a machete based on a cutlass, That was a quite common shape for machetes in Latin America from the XVIII to the mid XX centuries. Though most of them had a better guard. Also many central Assian, Mongolian and Chinesse sword followed that pattern.
@WeAllJuggleKnives
@WeAllJuggleKnives 8 лет назад
+Condottier I have heard those machetes were based on swords they saw when the Spanish conquistadors showed up.
@Condottier
@Condottier 8 лет назад
+WeAllJuggleKnives Hard to say, there is a big gap between the arrival of the Conquistadors (early 1500’s) and the time I know for sure that machetes were a common thing in Latin America (mid 1700’s). Some people (especially from Mexico and the Spanish North America) have suggested that Latin Machetes evolved from the Espada Ancha, but the Espada Ancha appeared around the late 1600’s-early 1700’s. However, I believe that by this time they had already came out with a cheaper variant of swords that could serve as a tool for country people; but I have never seen an example of these. Moreover, Espadas Anchas were not popular in South America where other patterns of machetes appeared and are still common today. Another complication is the fact that the most common sword in Spain at that time were rapiers, which does not resemble machetes at all and can’t be used as tools in the countryside. While other types of swords more similar to machetes like dussacks and the broadswords were not common for the Spanish. What I know for sure is that by the mid 1800's machetes, similar to that of the video, were common everyday tools (and occasional weapons) in Latin America. I think I will need to look more into other Spanish and Portuguese colonies like the Philippines and Ceylon to find out about this.
@Condottier
@Condottier 8 лет назад
+WeAllJuggleKnives Also this one is not the typical, so called "Latin Machete" (actually a traditional Mexican pattern) but through Latin America a huge variety of patterns were developed and used; in Venezuela there are around 3 traditional blade patterns, and in Mexico at least 5. Here more information on the Espada Ancha and the Mexican machete. www.vikingsword.com/ethsword/espadaan/ images.mexicoarmado.com/images-articulos/espada%20ancha_6.jpg
