Excellent review. I've got the same sort of outlook on lenses as you. I wanted a Leica forever, eventually got one second-hand and had decided a bag full of non-Leica lenses would be more interesting to get used to a rangefinder again (last time I used one was back in the 1970's!) than trucking about with a single rather expensive used Summicron for £1700? I'm happy but probably have too many lenses now! My own fault - turns out the Paradox of Choice (great book by Barry Schwartz) really does mean 'less is more' and I must sell some of them (do I really need the 35mm 7Artisans AND 40mm Voigtlander AND a 45mm Contax Zeiss in a Funleader helicoid, AND two surprisingly sharp Jupiter 8's (1957 and 1977) AND a 7Artisan 50m f1.1? ) all of which cost me - with a bit of luck and trading - around £800 or half the price of one used Summicron. 🤔
Im currently using a Ttartisan 25/f on an old Fuji XE2s as a poor man's Leica street rig. I love the vintage feel on photos taken with some of these "cheap" Chinese lenses. Incredible bang for the buck!
i was about to spend my money on the Voigty 40mm Toneh/1.4 then i saw your video. the images are actually really nice and cozy. also love your images and your deadpan delivery lmao.
First time watching your video, I like how you make those jokes without any emotion going 😂 I’d say we need more lens like this, low key, good build quality with characterised optics.
