I paid $110 for a broken Xbox One X and $110 for a broken PS4 Slim to see if I can fix them. Also, I want to see what kind of money I can potentially make on them of they're fixable so I'll do a breakdown of costs and see what similar consoles are selling for to find out the minimum amount of profit I could probably earn on these.

It never ceases to amaze me what people will throw away. I am glad there are people like you finding new life in these consoles and electronics. Saving the planet one fix at a time.

You can't blame them, When one doesn't know better, they can't imagine things are fixable especially nowadays with the throwaway mentality that has been embedded in people's brains.

@@patprop74 In many cases, the cost of repair is about the same or close to the cost of a new product. This is especially true with home theater products. So people don't want to waste the time and money on repairs when they can get a new one instead with better features.

@@feebsii7009 I was gonna say the same, selling is far better than just tossing in the trash can. There's always someone put there willing and able to fix things instead of tossing a plethora of perfectly good components into a landfill somewhere :)

Not from the point of video but I'm always surprised while watching repairs from you, my mate Vince or even Northridge fix or cod3r The fact that surprises me is that how sometimes a single cap which might cost less than $1 can ruin whole thing (a laptop; a mother board, a console, a gpu- anything!)
@Tronicsfix

Yep, all it takes is that one little component sometimes.

@@Tronicsfix it is too bad there is not enough focus on STEM in schools. Plenty of consumers could at least test capacitors and other basic tests before creating ewaste. Thanks for doing your part to teach the world. Your videos have given me tons of knowledge. You rock sir!

90's electronics I've seen SMD caps leak this nasty cap juice (smells like fish) and it can actually destroy the whole PCB. The most interesting one I've seen was a Mac II LC make a really strange whining noise. They replaced the caps and the noise went away, but they had to repair the board. There was cap juice all over the place. The board was getting coroded. I've seen another one with a Commodore Amiga that wouldn't turn on because of faulty caps. In more recent repairs I saw MattKC repair a $3 WII with a dark display. Only thing wrong with it was a single cap. Interestingly enough in spite of it being newer, there was still cap juice, it was still damaging the board. It shouldn't be as bad these days. 90's and 00's SMD caps were trash. The modern ones are a lot better. Through hole caps don't seem to have this problem as much.

It sucks that people just throw stuff away instead of fixing it. I actually tried fixing my old iPhone 5 I got in 2019 when I was 13 and I bought a new screen and battery, the old screen was obliterated, and the battery was 9 years old at the time, this was in September 2021 when I tried to fix it, but unfortunately, the screen I bought was a cheap piece of junk that fried the iPhone. I use that experience to buy quality parts, not cheap aftermarket parts, because it can kill phones the way it did to my iPhone 5. RIP James’s iPhone 5 2012-2021

I’ve been having a blast buying used consoles, my favorite one and easiest was a white ps4 slim just like this video, picked it up on offer up as is with a broken disc drive, ended up finding Peter piper pizza tickets in the disc drive, easiest fix and flip I’ve had, you gave me that confidence boost to try and check out broken consoles and it’s a blast I must say, keep up the hard work
