We have a 83 and 84 Big Red. Both are 200ccs. In 85 they went to full suspension and to 250ccs. I’m not trying to be negative or anything but I don’t think you have a Big Red. Bid Reds had electric start on them and a hi lo transmission selector. In 84 they went to shaft drive and also added reverse. You may have a 185 or a 200. There should be the actual cc number on the cylinder towards the bottom where it mates to the cases. That will tell you what it actually is. I love your videos and channel, I’m just trying to be helpful. I’m a bit of a Honda Atc nut, I have four at the moment and I’ve had six at once in the past before.

sleepy brian not everyone has the same experience. I don’t go out flooding mine in deep ass water or covering it in mud. If you ride it the way it was made for they’ll last forever.

i remember a old 2 wheel tractor we used to have with a kickstart. it was famous for kicking back when you tried starting it, and it pushed your knee up into a metal bar

Work on a lot of em here, farmers love em. I got an 84 fourtrax 250L with same airbox, and electric start, battery behind airbox. thinking that 3 wheeler might be an 84. Great find yes all down shifting. My 250 has a shaft drive with an auxiliary transmission mounted to the drive link for front sprocket.

@@2vintage gotta admit tho, sometimes its impossible to get a start with the decompressor on..so :P I miss my old Honda and Yam :-P So far I've rebuilt 2 hondas, 3 yams, 1 kawa. All 1990 and under :-D its a lot of fun

Those trail boss250 s are good rides, I had a couple, the rear axle bearings & front struts are always worn out, really hard to get fresh parts. If someone could make & sell a cheap front strut for these units, they would sell zillions of them, & get a lot of those 250s going again

Just gonna say thats 200S not a big red, I have owned a few big reds only the 82 and 83 are chain drive with hi and low, the 84 is shaft with hi low and reverse, and 85 to 88 is 250es with shaft drive and reverse. Also 200s had no key, no e-start, and the headlight had just the 2 mounts yours has.

@@MrFireline55 that's exactly what it is 200s I'm 52 years old I have a 1982 Big Red first year no reverse chain drive and I have an 86 200x and then 86 250R which I bought both together brand new $4,400 back in 1985 and I still got them my Honda Big Red Hill still running on the original piston never touched it tighten up the tighten up the timing chain here and there it probably needs new seals no biggie runs like a champ so does my other ones I love my three wheeler

That's a 200m motor, the 83 chain driven big red which was the only chain drive big red there was had hi an lo, then in 84 they had the 200 shaft with hi lo and reverse then 250's from 85-86

That old oil was so filthy inside the engine that even after you changed it the new oil looked dirty! That's when I would run it to clean out the engine then change it again.

Nice pull cord and in case you didn't know that's a aftermarket gas tank. Definitely not a big red 200 it's chain drive my guess is 200s with the overhanging rear rack and one piece rear fenders.

Thats a 1984 or 1985 Honda 200s or 185s not a honda big red AKA 200es ..however there is two versions of honda big red 200cc one version being chain driven and the other version being shaft driven but on both versions of the big red 200cc there is electric start with a battery hence the 200cc big red model being called the 200ES .also there is another big red that honda made called the 250es but it was shaft drive with electric start and a backup kickstarter
